I’ve been running a DF150A Zuke for two years. It wasn’t my first choice. but it was the only motor available to me during the pandemic. I’m glad that I got this motor. Just over 300 hours. Absolutely zero issues. I love how quiet and fuel efficient it is. I have 100% confidence that it’s going to get me home every time.

Hey Waylon, Thanks for sharing this. I completely agree. I have had people come up to me at the ramp asking how I like mine. I tell them it's a smooth running engine. They tell me that everyone they talk too, loves their Susuki! Waylon, you're just one cast away...

We just placed our order for a twin engine 27' tritoon. The only power option we could pick from the dealer was either a Mercury or a Suzuki. At first, I REALLY REALLY wanted the Mercury 400R because of the top end performance. The highest-rated HP Suzuki made was 350. After much, much deliberation, I went with the twin Suzuki DF350. It ended up being $20,000 cheaper. After visiting a few mechanics who worked on both engines, they told me (off the record and quietly lol) "you made the right decision". 😀
What was also interesting was that a few experts told me that the reason why Mercury is more expensive was because they dominate the market and can command a high premium on their product. On the flip side, the reason why Suzuki is cheaper is because they are trying to gain market share.
So at the end of the day, I'd rather pay a discount for a quality engine than have to pay premium because of market dominance. I do wish Suzuki would come out with a 400 and 450 option.

Hey La Das, Thanks for the Awesome Comment. I don't think I could have written this any better. You are spot on when you write, "After visiting a few mechanics who worked on both engines, they told me (off the record and quietly lol) "you made the right decision". 😀 " I'm really glad you also went with the Suzuki, I have had no issues and even though it ain't a race horse, I still get to my spots and catch Big Fish! 😀 Remember, you're just one cast away...

Suzuki is renowned for its engine technology, particularly in the realm of small engines. Suzuki is also well-known for its reliable outboard engines, and they have made significant advancements in outboard engine technology². Here are some key features of Suzuki's outboard engines:
    - **Lean Burn Technology**: Central to Suzuki’s outboard motor prowess is its Lean Burn technology⁴⁵⁶. This pioneering innovation significantly enhances fuel efficiency by precisely controlling the air-fuel mixture⁴⁵⁶. This technology allows Suzuki engines to optimize combustion, delivering longer journeys and fewer trips to the fuel pump, thereby minimizing the environmental footprint⁴⁵⁶.
    - **Battery-less Electronic Fuel Injection System**: Suzuki also has a battery-less electronic fuel injection system, especially on newer models⁶. This technology allows for quick and easy starts as well as cleaner and economical fuel consumption⁶.
    - **Integrated Electric Steering**: The big news is the roll-out of integrated electric steering for its flagship V6 engines, the 300hp DF300BMD and the 350hp DF350AMD². Suzuki’s suite of 4.4-litre V6 four-stroke outboard engines is the first on the market equipped with contra-rotating propellers for improved directional stability and better low-speed manoeuvrability in single-engine installations².
    - **Microfilters**: Suzuki has started fitting its outboard engines with microfilters that catch small plastic particles that end up in the water as the source breaks down naturally². This is part of Suzuki's commitment to cleaning up the world's oceans².
    - **Digital Shift and Throttle Control**: Suzuki has recently introduced its version of a digital shift and throttle control, called Suzuki Precision Control².
These features demonstrate Suzuki's commitment to innovation and efficiency in outboard engine technology²⁴⁵⁶.

Interesting that Honda is seldom mentioned in these outboard comparisons anymore. I chose Suzuki as well. Suzuki is the smallest player here in the Pacific NW and western Canada. This is predominately Yamaha and Merc country. ( I had to be different) Good video.

      I rarely see Honda’s, strange
The other day I saw some rental boats with 75 - 150 Honda’s
They must be reliable of rental companies are choosing them

  • @AlexanderTheGrateful

I’ve never owned or ran a Suzuki outboard. I’ve only owned Yamaha evinrude and Mercury
Out of the three the most reliable and trustable motor was the Yamaha,
But my gosh the Mercury has a different kick
    However I still prefer Yamaha

    • @FishOutLoud
      @FishOutLoud  Před 9 měsíci

Hi AlexanderTheGrateful thanks for the comments. I also have owned all three and I can't agree with you more. This was a first Suzuki. Evinrude, I blew up more engines, than I'd like to admit. The Merc, does has a get up and Kick go. The Yamaha and Suzuki are the Trustables ones out of the whole bunch! Thanks again and remember, you're just one cast away...

Which hp is that ? Push the boat fine ? I am in South Florida and none available or they're asking too much. I'd be willing to drive up - the 140 would be perfect for my flats boat. Can you recommend who it was that rigged it? thanks,

Hey Ray O, I just saw this. Been in Palatka fishing the last 10 days. My HP is a 200 and it was rigged in out of Nashville. It may be a bit far for you. I do recommend the Suzuki. Remember, you're just one cast away...
