@@VisualEducationStudio I agree - thank you!
Karl, thank you! Your videos opened my eyes to a lot of concepts related to lighting, which I had just not thought of before. Your tips already greatly helped me with a video I am working on. So thank you! I am going to check out your website. I am interested in product photography for the company I work for, but the product bottles are quite plain and white so it has been challenging to make them stand out. I am totally new to it all though and it is really fun to experiment. Your videos are helping a lot - so thank you!
Hi and thank you, I have lots more here on youtube but our best ones for product photography are on our site. We do also cover plain white products and pack-shots too. Thanks for stopping by and good luck with your channel.
Loff Fonseca, Lisbon. A superb video and good ideas to develop. My congrats.
thankyou sir
I’ll definitely be checking out the rim lighting on my membership
Cheers

Thank you so much!!!!!
You're welcome Ged!
Love it! 😍
Thank you! 😊
You can also take some self-portraits at your own home. Use one light, move it around, analyze the effect of light position on your face/body, try different modifiers if you have them. Or you can get yourself a portrait shoot by another photographer. You will experience what your models feel when the camera is pointed at them, and that can help you in making your subjects more comfortable.
👍 cheers for commenting Maciej
Superb information,thanks
Welcome
Awesome examples. I need to stay in more!
Ha Ha thanks

You are most welcome Mohapi!
Ive been shooting my fragrance collection for quite a while now, trying to match the theme with the scent notes for the specific perfumes combining most of your ideas. Im almost sad i didnt have to quarantine for longer. I got my best shots in my short amateur career during it.
So glad Momchil - Thanks for watching :-)
Amazing video 🙏🏾
Thank you Christopher 🙌
Do you have any education videos on how to shoot in a more cinematic way? I have lately become very interested in this style
Awesome video
Thanks!
I wish I found this video earlier in the lockdown , been massively unmotivated but now I'm going to buy a light and practice! Great Video Karl!
Glad it was helpful!
@@VisualEducationStudio It really was, and thank you for taking away some of the excuses about lighting (mine being that I just didn't know enough)
Nice tips! 💯
Thank you!
Challenge accepted. Will try to do my best in one of your suggested ideas. Many thanks for sharing with us.
Cheers from Mother Russia
Great Nikolai 👍 Good luck!
I am immensely grateful for your tutorials sir.
I only have one request to make sir, is it possible to get a detailed tutorial on retouching? Would be very grateful if u can touch on it.
Yes we have lots of them on our website
have been following you for quite a lot of time now, again a nice informative video. Can you please make a video on How to take great portrait with 1 or 2 speed lights.thank you...
Hi Raktim, we've actually got an entire section dedicated to one, two, three and four light setups reserved for our members here: www.karltayloreducation.com/portrait-photography/ Alternatively this may be of use: czcams.com/video/B2Mb6poDLvY/video.html The techniques and knowledge can be applied to SpeedLites or other studio lighting :-)
@@VisualEducationStudio hey thanks for replying.. I'll check those out..
The falling egg photo is one of the best i've ever seen and i wonder how did you do that.
Thanks, it was a series of two shots I took that you can see on my commerical site karl taylor dot com - the actual shoot was filmed as a live show and is on our education website.
About simulating sunlight or natural light: how good is an old-fashioned slide projector, still in working order, for a source of light? How does its quality of light compare with sunlight (or speedlight / studio lights), and are there ways of taking advantage of focusing its lens for photography?
Yes they work well.
Hi Karl, great channel by the way, very informative. I have a question on tripods. Any recommendations around the $600 mark aus dollars for rigging up a Mamiya RZ67?
Thanks. I used Manfrotto 058B with an RZ67 and a 410 manfrotto geared head and I still use the 058B today. Otherwise maybe something similar from Manfrotto or the Gitzo range.
@@VisualEducationStudio Thank you, much appreciated, I had that tripod in mind.
here from Brazil learning with Karl Taylor
Thank you Helder... all the best! 📸
sometimes when exporting from photoshop for web or instagram, even though i convert to srgb before the export and i click on "embed color profile" ,i get oversaturated colors on both web or my phone ,which is a bit of annoying..any advice on this Karl? It doesnt happen always but sometimes..and i dont get it..if i am convering to sgb why my image looks oversaturated ...
Thanks a lot for the videos and all the advices and nice work on this chanel!
Hi John, i'm not aware why that would be happening. If during the conversion to sRGB the preview of the conversion looked ok in PS then there shouldn't be a problem.
@@VisualEducationStudio ok thanks Carl. maybe is a bug in the photoshop version i am using i will try to update:)
nice t-shirt :)
Thanks! Pretty Green rules.
What did you spray on the bottle before the clycerine?
Hi Vincent, I'm afraid we don't give that out for free. It wasn't glycerine you can find out what it was as well as the pre application on Karl Taylor Education.
Bro when you find time to do all these things? I'm amazed by how much you produce
Thank you!! 🙏 We've got loads of ideas for the future too. Lots of overtime 😂 📷
Shhhh! He's actually identical triplets.
How do we click candid photos perfectly?
It comes down to patience and timing.
I guess we are having strawberries tomorrow then... :-D
😂 Excellent Thomas! Here's some further food photography inspiration - Flying Food Photography: czcams.com/video/chzS0X9gv-4/video.html&vl=en
Great tutorials, I'm stuck though, I need a stunning model and women wont talk to me because I'm old, fat, and ugly. Actually no one comes near me these days because I look sick even when I'm not. But I think I can work on the food, still life and products. Now where did I put my camera ?
Hi Karl, do you have a video about how unrealistic clients are about the process of having professional photography done?
The reason I ask is that I’ve recently had an enquiry to photograph a sleep mask on a white background (the product is being sent to me, easy and simple), but then they asked for “staged” images of the product (no other information at this point), and the deadline is within two weeks. I’m trying to send emails etc at the moment but they’re taking forever to get back to me. I don’t yet know want they mean by “staged”, a model (what demographic?), a bedroom (what style and mood?), who knows... Client sometimes have no idea what commercial photography services entail.
Honestly James if they were that crap I'd say 'thanks but no thanks'. One thing you need to learn in business is if you succumb to the most ridiculous requests and budgets then you will spend your life doing it.
👍👍👍🤗🇨🇭
Thank you 🇬🇬
I mean...the whole reason I can't do portraits is because I don't have anyone to model, so not sure about the fact half of these are 'xyz portrait'. Might give some of the foodie ideas a go though!
No worries... Ideas 3,4,6,9 and 10 should get your creative ideas flowing. There's a little video extra for photoshoot idea 10 on this page if that helps bit.ly/10-photoshoot-ideas :-)
Meno parole e più indicazioni si come realizzarle
Great I instructions what you failed to convey is that sence of oddness you'll feel when you are in the yard contorting yourself to get that great shot, then get the shot, look up to see the neighbors gawking at you with an odd look on their face! 😀
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Thank you Karl for your time , I am very confused about getting my first "light system" , I am a travel and landscape photographer , but due to covid-19 , I am starting with portraits , my budget is limited so I have to be careful with my first light gear, I would appreciate your comment. Thank you . Big Hug from Patagonia .
We have a video on that coming out end of this month
You´re always brilliant in how you teach this very useful knowledge.
Seems like yesterday that I came on youtube to find photography videos and you came up 1st.
Few months later I won a competion in London sponsored by Hasselblad back in 2013, so...haven´t missed a video since!
So big thank you for having your hand in the phototographer I am today.
