- In August of 2017, Bugatti, using the 1500 hp Bugatti Chiron driven by race car driver Juan Pablo Montoya set a world record for the 0km/h to 400km/h (249mph) and back to 0km/h (0-400-0)
feat.

Love both cars but you pay a price for the extra 5 seconds because it's a lightweight hardcore race car. The Bugatti is much more quiet and comfortable adding weight. All depends on what's more important to you..

Bugatti is almost 50% heavier than Koenigsegg. According to wiki, Chiron's curb weight is 1,996 kg whereas Agera RS' is 1,395. With higher power to weight ratio its only logical that Koenigsegg trumps Chiron in this challenge.
Both cars are prime examples of state of the art engineering.

Lets do some basic math; Koenigsegg is 1395 kgs, Chiron weighs in at 1995. If i make a claim that Chiron weights 50% more than Koenigsegg, then Chiron must weigh 1.5 times as much. If you multiply 1395 by 1.5, then Chiron must weigh 2092 kgs. In reality, Chiron at 1996 kg, is 43% heavier than Koenigsegg, because it is what you get if you devide 1995 by 1396. Yes, i rounded 43% to 50%. My bad.
On the flip side, Koenigsegg weighs 70% percent of what Chiron does. because 1396 is roughly 70% of 1995.

My main take away is that the guy driving the Chiron was wearing business casual and looked calm as a cucumber and the guy in the Agera was in a fireproof racing suit and a helmet. Now all of us would probably rather have a white knuckle drive the Agera but The Bugatti is a beast and a comfy luxury car to boot and the amount of engineering that went into making that possible is freaking insane.
What amazes me is the amount of energy transformed into heat in less than 10seconds in the breaks.

It was indeed another Chiron. But unlike many say. "The only other car fast enough to film Chiron's 0-400-0 run, is another Chiron obviously!"... is wrong. It could have been a Koenigsegg, but that would've made filming harder, since on full throttle, the Egg will just outrun the chiron. So you would have to manage it perfectly.
Other options are ofc Supra, GT-R Nismo, and other sleeper cars.

Buggati makes people believe that they build the fastest cars in the world. Koenigsegg lets people know that they make the fastest cars in this world.
Bugatti doesn't make anyone believe anything. Bugatti makes luxury boats that go like hell. It's just they held the world record with the veyron for so long that people assume that the more powerful newer Chiron is now the fastest. However Koenigsegg comes along and uses what is closer to an F1 car with a second seat to dethrone Bugatti as they set world records. It's even pretty obvious in this video.

Bugatti: test driver is all dressed up no safety equipment. Luxurious experience l, looks fancy.
Koenigsegg: rest driver is in a race suit with a helmet. Race car style, with a serious attitude.

The underdog is Koenigsegg and they play by the rules. They show the evidence and follow the rules for official top speed runs.
Bugatti however doesn’t show everything. They glorify what they do without making it official. They never did an official top speed test by the rules so basically there 304mph run doesn’t count. It’s cool, but it really just seems like branding. Like here’s a “300mph” car, yet when you buy it it has a “limiter” similar to the top speed of previous models.
The beauty of the Chiron is that it's like the Concorde. Its on the very edge of technology and it just makes you feel normal. As evidenced by the dude driving it at 400km/h is just wearing a dress shirt and nice pants with some loafers. Koenigsegg on the other hand had to get the whole workshop squad in there with the guy wearing a racing suit and a crash helmet like some labrat. We're talking roadcars here. If I need to strap myself into a racing suit and have an entire roster of workshop people handy everytime I gotta go fast, that's not a roadcar anymore. That's a track only car. It's not normal.
right, road cars attempting to break speed records set by the likes of Hennessey, McLaren, Buggati, Koenigsegg, and SSC. anything over 200mph is serious shit and not many people understand what it's like to top these vehicles out, the developers themselves don't even know what the outcome will be at those speeds because of the unpredictability of certain environmental factors like wind shear, road temp, air temp, and humidity. differences in these factors aren't as important when traveling at normal speeds, but any small change in certain factors will have a more profound effect when traveling at the speeds a Buggati or a Koenigsegg are capable of. hell, even a small piece of debris in the road at 250mph would probably be enough to make Montoya's asshole pucker.
basically it's better to be safe than sorry. and it's not like wearing racing gear is mandatory in the real world, but intentionally pushing these cars to their limit for the sake of entertainment is a very good reason to protect yourself.
