AtomicMuffin I don't know man, the venom went from a dead stop to 270+ in about 3 miles, the agera had almost 11 miles to get to 280+ along with assist from downhill and a tailwind. If the venom got the same the venom would definitely win, the agera may accelerate faster tho.
That's why they went both ways. even with the headwind and going uphill they hit 277. And they used 11 miles because they wanted the space. The One:1 with the same power but more drag (aero adds drag, duh) did 240mph in 1.4 miles (including braking) at VMAX 200 last year, so yeah, the 'Segg wins on paper. Hennessey could've put all this to bed had he done the same and gone out to a highway like that (like what 'Segg did AND what SSC did with the Aero) but no, he decided to use the biggeest runway in the world and only go one way.
And yeah, if it accelerates quicker, then yes, it'll win. That's kind of the point.

H&P Customs because its an engine swap, the standard Agera RS wouldn't hit those speeds, basically its the one:1 engine, inside the RS shell for less drag and down force. Ask yourself if the have two supposedly faster cars (Regera, one:1) why use an RS? Either way this isn't the standard RS, so the record shouldn't stand...as its not a standard car, so let Bugatti tune a Chiron, and find tyres that will stand the g-force 300mph+ will put on them , and Bugatti will thrash anything Christian van kroninberg! Has. The Refers can't break 240, although it has acceleration to match almost anything
Fake!!!! Use a standard Agera RS....not a tuned car with the power of the one:1 and the aero of an RS. Pointless using a tuned car...as lots on manufacturers can do this using the same rules
This is a stock Agera RS, it's the same one they used for the 0-400km-0 run earlier this year: www.koenigsegg.com/koenigsegg-agera-rs-completes-0-400-0-kmh-run-in-36-44-seconds/ The owner was interested in verifying it's speed against other production exotics. It's noted in that article that "It features our 1MW engine upgrade, providing 1,360hp and 1,371Nm of torque (1,011 ft lbs)."... you could say that's an engine swap, but really that's like saying that a Camaro with the LT4 V8 is just an engine swap. It's a factory option, so it counts as a fully production version.
Not to say they're not all a bit custom at that price point, but the inner workings are all the same within that platform, including the engine.

James Thom Dude, you can configure one for yourself. It is a production and completely street legal car. Its like calling a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport a 'non-standard' car as compared to the original Veyron. Also, the chiron and agera rs use the same type of michelin tyres.
If you passed a cop at 284 MPH, and it took him 2 seconds to check your speed, then start accelerating, then takes the cop 5.7 seconds to get to 60 MPH; you would be .6 miles away already

We were incorrectly led to believe that the Tuatara beat this record, when in fact nobody has gone this fast on an actual road to date, yet alone in both directions. Koenigsegg engineering continues to be a favorite of mine.

It's required that the run is made in both directions for it to be recorded. On the other hand, the Tuatara did beat the Koenigsegg in a two way world record run. Something like 2MPH faster average two way.

The car doesn't have a transmission it pretty much is a hybrid car jacked up on a shit ton of steroids. It pretty much has all the power to the wheels at all times it is said to have seven "gears" but the first 6 are assisted by the car's electric motors that give the car about 600 horses by itself the V8 Engine twin turbo is over 1100 horses. That is why the car doesn't show signs of shift shock like other cars do and its massive acceleration once it hit 180 mph. Just watched a episode of Jay Leno's Garage where he talked with Koenigsegg himself who explained the car. I may not have got all the detail correct but what they achieved with the car is extraordinary.

The bugatti that set the 304.77 mph is a modified chiron called the super sport it has 1577 hp compared to the 1479 hp in the normal chiron. it also has a longer tail different wheels and tires vents on the fenders and different splitter the interior was stripped only one seat and roll cage.The Koensignegg that set the record only had 1360 hp 217 hp less than the chiron ss so imagine if the agera rs had the same hp would it go faster probably.

That may be one reason, but I imagine it was a mainly to keep heat out of the intercoolers and radiators for best power when he really needs it at higher speeds

100mph is slow compared to what most cars can do. speed limits are broken they need to be higher everywhere especially on roads like these.

@@tonycarpenter1226 it's not just about hp. It's also about other things like drag downforce rolling resistance air turbulence , balance , grip etc. At such crazy speeds every factor needs to be taken into consideration.

The way it pulled to 284 mph indicates this car has more left in it if gearing is altered. This is a 300 mph car!!
If they ever get a set of tires that will survive 300+. That is the limiting factor at this point.
I don't think it has 300 mph in it. The difference between 284 and 300 is pretty big.
I honestly think 290 at the least is in it.
Bob And more importantly, this car was running downhill plus tail wind speed , there fore 284.6mph, but in opposite direction, it only tops at 271.2 mph. so on average it's 277.9mph
BTW, Venom GT can easily beat it if running in the same track at same distance.
Quite fun when they do the first run and sort of lets off before a steady speed. Run 2 is more of an atempt with a couple of seconds at full oumpf. Gearing I do not know, but I find it funny they did not do "run 1" again. The car clearly has 280+ in it average. Future will tell I'm sure! Chiron must have a go too :-)

I got my Reliant Robin up to a verified 63.486mph averaged over 2 runs, as per the Guinness book of record rules, once in each direction.
I didn't hear anything back from Guinness though which really annoyed me, especially after I went to all that effort.
I mean, what more can they want? Even the moped rider, that overtook me during the run, congratulated me when I arrived at the other end of the run where he was waiting.
He said to me, "What took you so long? .. I've just been into McDonald's and had a burger and fries whilst waiting for you to get here."

Yeah it's actually called something... I completely forget. It's the "something" effect. on the episode of top gear when they drove the Bugatti Veyron close to 250mph he said he opened the door while still going 30 because he thought he was going like 5. It's a trippy effect for sure but should show just how freaking fast this car is moving.
