There are 4 directions so there's also southern Europe which includes Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, a lot of the Balkan region countries, etc. And then there's northern Europe with Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, UK, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (my country 😊)
Northen is counted as western in the vid though
@@GdzieJestNemo at 2:29 in the video it's not though
@@indreduobaite13 eeee on the time stamp you got Iceland, Sweden, Norway & Dennmark as western, only Finland is left out for whatever reason. Separation used in the vid is really weird Just noticed only 1/3rd of France is marked- that' super weird

”to be at home and pray” no one prays more than Americans.😂 Has anyone seen czech people praying?😂
I remember the whole Americans praying before dinner was used as a gag on Polish TV and we're supposed to be this conservative Catholic country (the scene was, if I remember correctly, American girl eating dinner with Polish family and she made them hold hands and pray while the Poles were looking at each other like wtf is this)

Czech isnt even Eastern Europe more like central europe such as Austria, Switzerland and slovenia.
If I recall PL have far more egalitatian workforce than "west", including women in STEM fields.
ofc not, czechia is like one of the most atheist countries in europe after like estonia.
Yes and Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary are central european states. It isn't eastern Europe. CZ, SK, PL and HU are using central european time zone, they are members of the European Union, OECD, Slovakia of Eurozone, standard democratic states with free market economy like the U.S. or western Europe. And of course, central european states has double higher standard of living then Russia or Belarus. Exception is Czech Republic (geography central europe), standard of living 90% of France (western Europe). So this young lady is talking true. "How do they compare?"
Germany is also technically at least partially *Central Europe* and only *European* Russia should count in this because Asian Russia had a naval border with *Japan* of all places...

I have lived and travelled extensively in both East & West Europe. Your opening statement is about as far removed from the truth as it's possible.
at 04:25 map of France. That's not how France looks like in the northeast in 2022. It's a feaking napoleonic map or so.
Alot of military equipment in Eastern European nations like Belarus and Russia are still using Soviet Era Equipment, but in the west, typically older models are replaced with new models, take the UK for example, our current MBT (Main Battle Tank) the Challenge MK2, the majority of its fleet will be upgraded to the new Challenger mk3 in 2027, rather than simply scrapping and replacing
4:30 can anyone explain that outline of France? Why did it kinda include all of Belgium
Mistake by the video creator, probably not a European.
Funny how Portugal and Spain are the most western countries on Europe yet is included on southern
We all know that Portugal is Balkan. r/PortugalCYKABLYAT
Portugal is NOT western believe me, we don't have nothing to do with the UK or Germany
Spain and Portugal have more in common with Italy or Greece, is more about south culture, we are nothing like the UK

Great video, finally discovering other prts of Europe too. Keep these videos coming!
P.S. I think this video counted only the European speakers of the languages, there’s 60 million English speaker in Europe (and 1 billion world wide), while 90-100 million German speakers in Europe.
The video compares WEST EUROPE VS EAST EUROPE!!!!! So its LOGICAL-GERMAN (germany, austria, suisse, elsass) VS RUSSIAN!
Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary are Central Europe, not Eastern Europe.
I come from the Federal Republic of Germany and I would really like it if you would make a few videos about our beautiful republic: our culture, politics, system, language

I guess they left out southern Europe? Western Europe is one of the richest regions in the entire world. That’s mainly due to the energy and services sectors. But countries like Germany & the Netherlands also produce a lot of high end machines. In Germany it’s mainly cars of course. The Netherlands produces some of the greatest high tech machines in the world, a great example is the tech company ASML. All this combined let’s The Netherlands, Belgium & Luxembourg alone have the same economic power as Russia. We simply invest our money more into the people, like healthcare, infrastructure & education. Our armies in the west are smaller, but more advanced, and you can see this in the Ukrainian battlefield. The Ukrainian army started using western weapons, and are now obliterating the Russian army. Sometimes size isn’t everything.
West is also rich cuz of colonization
Well Russia is the biggest country in the world so that’s why... Wish it wasn’t though

To comment on military budget vs. military size: It is not just about quantity. The weapons and equipment of the western countries are way more advanced and so more cost intense. One cannot just compare numbers.
With Nato including most of Eastern Europe, comparing military is no longer relevant.
FYI: geographical places not only have an east and a west. They also have a north and a south. And when it's big enough they even have a middle/{centre | center}). Yeah yeah, I know, both poles... ;-)
Germany has quite a few diaspora communities, Turks being a very notable group. Since the 60s and 70s many Turks settled into Germany (and other parts of Europe) because of economic issues and Germany's economy was booming after WWII.
Another part of Europe that's VERY interesting is the Balkans, dubbed Europe's most dysfunctional family.
Who said Italy isn't part of western Europe?
US military spending mainly goes on technology. Look how much your jets and drones cost.
Today u dont need large military staff to have best army. Its all about technology.
Girl you know that Italy is smaller than Poland?!
well, i suggest you to gather some more information about germany. UK is nothing compared to this country.
greetings
p.s. about the military. the eastern countrys are using very old stuff thats why they have so much stuff. but quantity does not compare to quality. and please, dont be offendet now but you really need to educate yourself about europe very much more. the EU is beaten almost all countrys in the world in every topic (yes, also the USA). i suggest you to start with "America Compared: Why Other Countries Treat Their People So Much Better" a shocking begin for your journey
The western Europe countries are former colonial empires, so naturally are richer than the east.
Just because the US has a large military budget doesn't necessarily mean it could win a war, just means it's got a budget.
Also as a Hungarian, I would really like you to check out Hungary’s capital, Budapest or even other countries capital, they are just as beautiful as London or Paris!

As a German it’s funny to see you that surprised. To me it was always pretty clear that Germany is the most powerful Western European country 😅 Russia is dominating Eastern Europe because of the Soviet Union and its fall which lead to poverty in nearly all of its members
@tomuscranius not anymore
Germany is not even close to most powerful western europe country bro
@@lumpek4149 they are only powerful with economy from what i hear their military is just abysmal
Germany is the most powerful country in Europe although its population is declining.
Germany Geography Now reaction would be great.
German because of Germany+Austria+Switzerland
Germany just don’t have the strongest military because we are still under regulations after both world wars. Our military is not allowed to have a total of 370.000 personal (active and reserve). If you consider the fact that Germany have the best weapons, tanks, Jets, etc. In the world, Best Ingenieurs, high quality manufacturing and many other factors, Germany could easily have the best Military in the world. But like I say, Tank manufacturing, weapon manufacturing, military buildup, everything is restricted by the „Zwei plus vier“ Regulations. It’s a regulation between the Winner nations of WW2 ( USA, UK, French and Russia) to make sure that the German military don’t get powerful again, we all know what happens when Germany have a powerful army..
Just as a note in terms of military budget - just as a simplified way of looking at it between East and West…it’s quality over quantity.
You dint know how the Economy works obviously. to produce one tank in Eastern Europe cost 3-times less than in the West. Resources working power ect...
@@hte9405 They dont build tanks there, they buy them, 90% of the polish tanks where build in germany.
You don't "have" more money... you PRINT more money... that't is the difference between west and east...
Cry about it
How about making more reactions to history stuff?I recommend any oversimplified's video.
Western Europe did partake and still does partake in neo colonialism. Here is the origin of their affluence.
I can, kind of, answer your question of the western vs eastern europe military numbers. Like the budget thing.
As we can see this comparison list includes Russia as part of Eastern Europe (even if majority of RF territory is in asia...most of its population lives in the european part & most wealth is also there)
The thing is a big chunk of the numbers for east europe (number of tanks, war planes, and other equipment) are russias. For example 10,000 tanks of the 30,000 & around 2,500 of the 4,500 aircraft are theirs on this list All other countries together have about 20,000 tanks & 2,000 planes.
But...as anyone who has been keeping an eye on the current war in Ukraine knows (those who did not know it before)...in russia the numbers include even the scrap metal. So though they have a large number of military equipment, a large chunk of it is very old, and quite a lot of it is not really functional, cause it is not maintained. Hence (partly) the huge "inflated" numbers for eastern part of Europe on this list.
I also assume this list was created before this years war. The numbers have changed, and are changing now. Many countries in Europe have increassed their military spending...cause things have changed. But Europe is still "one team"... their armies are all still "flexible" and all those both is east and west who are part of NATO are basically part of one big miitary (like currently a lot more american and west european troops stationed in the easten member countries...due to the situation with that one big neigbour)
Whole of Europe spends so little on military budget compared to US, because their armies are so much smaller compared to US. Their armies are also set up different, and they do not have big, expensive "toys" (aircraft carriers) either And so far Eastern Europe (due to having been behind iron curtain/under russian occupation for 50 years, while the western countries developed) has been "poorer" (smaller GDP, smaller in many ways), but that has been changing over past 30 years...they are slowly catching up to the west, and by now, for example Poland has become one of the big players. But there are many small countries, so smaller militaries, so smaller budgets. Also...nuclear powers have to have bigger budget, cause maintaining them is expensive. Only Eastern European country who has them is russia (their budget makes up most of eastern parts total budget). You will notice that the nuclear powers (UK, France) have the highest budgets from the western european countries (but not for this reason alone, it just also plays a role).
There are many reasons for all this, and it is all multi-layared topic. But those are some of the "reasons"
And of course Germany is on the list so often cause it is a highy developed state/economy, and they owe it all a lot to also their industry and export (cars, electronics, etc...a lot of world famous brans are made/created in Germany). Though yes, service sector is still the biggest contributor to their GDP (wealth) ;)
PS. Also..MOST of European countries, especially northern and eastern are quite NON religious. According to polls both France & Germany in west & Sweden & Estonia in north & east have the most people in EU who consider themselves to be atheists. So, in general, not a lot of people in Europe go to church & pray (compared to USA for example). And if we exclude Russia (a huge country by land area, and hence also large population) from the eastern parts population then 297 million minus 145 million leaves us with 147 million for the rest of eastern part...which is a bit less than western parts populaton. Cause more smaller countries here. Cause I suspect that though on the map only european part of rus is coloured they count the whole countries population in this list.
I have 2 problems with that comparision,
1. Russia is only 1/3 on "continental europe", 2/3 are asian; yes most Russian living in the european regions (west of ural mountains) but i wouldn't call russia european, especially since it's behave the last years (same with turkey, only has 1/10 of territory on "continental europe")
2. US and West-Europe military spendings are more in quality and not in quantity like russia ... and consider to cut down the russ numbers by loses in the ukraine right now
Russian are European no matter what they do that's like saying south korea wouldn't be asian if they became more western
be careful comparing budgets, pensions are included in the budget in USA where as pensions doesn't fall in under most other countries budgets because that belongs under social budgets. I believe I've heard that around a third of the US military budgets is used for pensions and so forth.
Merry Christmas and I hope can get to the UK in 2023. Cheers.
There is also southern Europe. That's where Italy is. :D
I guess Finland is the only North-European country according to this video :D this video is pretty unuseful in many ways
russian is the biggest country in europe. Germany is doing good because of emigration population. If you spent less on the military in the US you would have no homeless and better health care.
they didn’t count the whole western europe in the video

Soviet Union was almost all of Eastern Europe for 50 years....

English is the most spoken language in Europe… this fact video is competing, also they missed out Portugal/Spain and Italy as Western Europe lol
It should have said native language, these vids need to be taken with a pinch of salt
The comparison as presented doesn't make any sense whatsoever. There is, at the moment, almost zero contact between the eastern part of the EU and Russia, so putting these countries into the same block with Russia doesn't make any sense, not to mention that it is insulting to do so from the author of the video you are reacting to. Americans should REALLY figure out what the European Union is and that the iron curtain they were used to has shifted way more to the east compared to where it used to be. When you say "westernised", it applies to the eastern flank of the EU/NATO countries as well.

Trillion, not million. ;-)
Don't have to have a bigger military to be better than the US, legends in your own minds.
czech republick, poland, slovakia and hungary is central europe
The criteria of what is considered Western and Eastern Europe often get muddled up. Reducing it this way only makes sense from the historical perspective of the former Western and Eastern blocks in times of the division of Europe. Grographically, you would have to add Northern, Central and Southern Europe. Countries like Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia ate largely more Central or Central/East than Eastern European. Most of these are Slavic countries but they are in the heartland of Europe and have close cultural links with their Western neighbours,, even more nowadays.
A lot less homeless people in Europe than the US
Also also also, UK has nukes to equal France to keep Europe balanced 😅
You only count Western Europe for military but you also forget the North end the south..;
Jim Morrison said it "the West is the best.." Yeah man. "The West is the best." "Get here and will do the rest 😆!"
Most countries around Russia are Slavic nations and they all speak similar languages

The military comparison between west and east europe mures no sense. In the nato there are north south, west and even some east europe nations.

interesting. who would win if Russia spent its resources correctly?
Technically, most of Europe is united vs Russia. So Russia accounts for a lot of military personnel and firepower. There's no such thing as Western Europe vs Eastern Europe. It's Europe vs Russia.
You need to exclude Russia from the comparison as West and East Europe (mostly with little exceptions) are in NATO. Adding Russia as an 'Eastern European' comparison vs West makes absolutely no sense at all.
Eastern Europe has low budget, but they have more weapons because since the SSSR breakup, Russia had inherited all the weapons, including all nuclear weapons.
It's France and not Germany at Strongest Military because Germany has no Nuclear Weapons but France has
Okay, english is only spoken by the English, the Scottish and the Irish. French is spoken by the French, in parts of Belgium and parts of Switzerland.
