Zoe Saldaña doesn’t get nearly enough hype for her acting. I swear when I watch her it’s hard to know where Zoe ends and the character begins. She’s incredible.
Neytiri's raw screaming at his death is, hands down, one of the best performances I've seen of a parent reacting to losing a child. So many films/TV undersell the pain. She just dove right into it and let it flow painfully. And the detachment, almost dissociation moment, where you can see she is swallowing her pain to get the job done, is also really wonderfully done. Zoe is a stunning actor.
This is one of the best death scenes ever. You don’t always just quickly go, so them surrounding him, their dialogue, it hits sssooooooo hard. And then Neytiri finding solace just long enough to end things. So good
Zoe can act her ASS OFF, I have yet to see a performance from her that I thought was just a phone-in, she really SHOWS UP and I appreciate that!!!!..

You can tell that even behind the scenes they are not acting on the emotions. Yes they have to act but if her mourning had to get them them to really cry for real it makes it more real than anything.

Spider and Neteyam may not have been as close as they are with Kiri and Lo'ak, but deep down they loved and cared for each other.
Tuk cried a lot for him as we saw after the battle, I think Kiri did too, we didn't see it, but her sadness was transformed into joy when she saw Spider leave the ship alive.
I didn't cry during the movie at the theatre, but now I that I watch this scene again and again with and without the CGI, I feel so sad
God these people are brilliant. I would be so distracted by the equipment and everything but actors man, they cut through all this bs and give such great performances!

As much as this scene is heartbreaking, it was crucial for the continuation of the movies. Think about it. Jake purposely left the Omaticaya clan in hopes to escape Quaritch, which ended up coming back. But this time, he had everything to lose : his family. He chose to flee, but it wasn't enough. The never ending war with the Sky People killed his oldest son. If it wasn't for his death, Jake would've still tried to flee and avoid conflict : leaving no purpose to continue the story. Jake needed this death as a wake up call. No matter what, Quaritch will never stop looking for him. Him and his team already got to Neteyam. That's why at the end of the movie, Jake realizes he needs to fight back again.
Fun fact: The whole entire 5 mins into the movie itself foreshadows the entirety of the whole movie plot. Neytiri singing about Neteyam’s death, Lo’ak’s constant misunderstood mistakes leading to his death, Neteyam’s killing a fish by the rocks, etc.
It's the dramatic framework for the film's entire finale, of course it was necessary... it's a story 😭

Передача эмоций на компьютерных версиях ни на йоту не утеряна, а даже и улучшена, за счет более выразительных лиц На'ви, этих больших глаз, прижатых ушей, которые тоже сильно передают эмоции. Сама сцена такая тяжёлая, потеря первенца, накал эмоций. Буквально на себе ощущаешь их чувства. Лоак винит себя и одновременно горюет, Джейк тоже винит себя, но ему еще надо думать о других детях, о дочерях, которые в плену, ну а Нейтири итак многое потеряла с приходом людей - родную сестру, отца, дом, мать оставила дома, икрана, с которыми у них духовная связь, кучу сородичей убили, теперь еще и сын😢. Шедевр и всё! Идите нахрен кто это отрицает, смотрите своих Марвелов и со своим псевдоумным мнением что зря ждали 12 лет, можно было лучше. Да никто в мире еще 100 лет не снимет лучше.

About this scene, prior to this I'm like there's no way Neteyam survives this movie or the next. A prodigal son who seems perfect and is basically Sully jr. Even though i had the feeling, this scene was still just as heartbreaking.
