  • Steph Curry dropped 40 points in last night's win against the Cleveland Cavaliers. This follows a win against Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets. Dwayne Wade was asked whether he would build a team around Steph or Kevin Durant, saying quote: 'I'm going to go with Steph..he has revolutionized the sport. He is one of those Mt. Rushmores from a sense of changing the game...' Marcellus Wiley, Joy Taylor, and Ric Bucher discuss whether they would rather build a team around Curry or KD.

Many people aren’t even factoring in what curry’s presence does to defenses. Sure kd being the scorer that he is has a ton of gravity but steph has that same gravity at an extended range. They might double kd at the three or mid range but steph can hardly cross half court. Steph is also better to start a team with because his play-style is more team oriented. Almost every move he makes sets up a team mate and causes a chain reaction that engages every player in the same uniform as him which helps with morale and helps with their overall play. If I’m constantly involved vs standing around I’d want to be involved 10 times out of 10. Kd can be a better player and not the right first pick for a team why people try to equate the two concepts is weird to me

It is Sooo obvious if you're starting a team you go with the generational savant like Curry. It is not a knock against Durant, another extraordinary talent, but in their careers, Curry has had more success brining his teams to the championship series. That "should" be proof enough, but, here we are. Curry has leadership skills that are often overlooked but his team mates know them. He is much more than the greatest shooter the game has ever seen, as well. Lastly, it is much easier to build around the player who is the catalyst, the point guard, the distributor, than any other player. Durant, a phenom, a superb player. Curry, a magician, who has the ability to demoralize his opponents with his package of skills, heretofore never witnessed.

Steph hands down. It's not even close. As great as KD is as a basketball player, Curry is a better leader, more stable, and inspires his teammates to be great. He has a better understanding of team offense than iso-centric KD.

As someone who grew up a spurs fan, I'd go with steph curry all the way. Steph has this unique charisma about him like Tim Duncan. Steph, Draymond and Kay remind me of the big three in San antonio in a different way of course.
Let's also bring up KG. Was he a better player than Duncan? In some aspects yes, but Tim Duncan was a way better leader and thats one of the main reasons that the spurs had remained relevant for so long.
Steph has that same leadership quality about himself and thats why I see him as special.

Marcellus' argument was pretty ridiculous and incoherent. Oh, they only won one championship and were well on their way to two in a row until Draymond got suspended. All that without KD and beating KD and a team with two other future MVPs to do so. KD has a HUGE advantage over Steph with his size and length, which is so important in basketball, but still, Steph manages to make up for that with his quickness and work ethic.
