Kevin Durant fires back at Charles Barkley's 'bus rider' critique | NBA | FIRST THINGS FIRST

  • Charles Barkley didn't mince words after the Brooklyn Nets were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in a Boston Celtics sweep. Barkley called Nets' player Kevin Durant a 'bus rider', going on to say " If you ain't driving the bus, don't walk around talking about you a champion." Durant, or course, didn't take that lying down. With plenty of time on his hands now that the Nets' season is over, KD took to social media to post all of the times in his career Barkley had been a 'bus rider' himself. Nick Wright and Chris Broussard share their thoughts on this feud, and decide who has proven to be the real 'bus rider' over the years.

The reason why some people dismiss (I don’t think they dismiss it, more just don’t give it as much credit) the KD finals MVP’s is because teams were unable to double KD, because you were giving up 3’s to the best shooters ever. So essentially KD, who is one of the best scorers of all time, got to play 1on1 on the offensive end almost entirely.

Agreed with Charles Barkley, KD wasn't the bus driver at Warriors team & that's one of the reasons why KD left Warriors (he wanted to be a bus driver). Everything built around Curry & that including the way Warriors basketball created/ball movements (Bay area fans know & want Curry to be our bus driver). Klay, Dray and KD were the co-pilot. Curry is/was the face of Warrior's organization/team.
KD came along for the ride with 73 winning team, and he wouldn't have any ring today if he didn't join the Warriors. KD even jealous of how much the Bay area fans love & respect Curry and so he left. KD, tried to build a new bus and 3 years later, the bus he is driving today (overlooked by Kyrie), still has NO ring. He is 34 years old & will NEVER win another ring with this dysfunctional organization/team. KD is lucky to get his two rings & two FMVP with Warriors and that is!!! The truth always hurt & that's why KD fired back at Charles Berkley who has a very good assessment of who was/is a bus driver at Warriors.

I always felt that he left the Warriors because of that whole situation with Draymond. Steph and Klay are Draymond's brothers. Period. They will never fall out. Everybody else can get it from Draymond.(aka Justin Poole) Now that's what I believe the real deal was...and will always be! The last thing nobody wants to give some serious thought to, is that KD joining the Warriors just doesn't impact he's career, but Draymond's, Steph and Klay's as well. If KD gets an asterisk by his name for those championships, then so does everyone else, including the coach and organization. Now what say to that AMERICA??? Peace and blessings to ALL!!!

Steph Curry took Kevin Durant out against OKC and went on to win a championship 'FAX'! Kevin Durant has never taken Steph Curry out! the warriors was a championship caliber team before Kevin Durant came, because they won a championship before Kevin Durant, and stepped on Kevin Durant to go get it. Steph has proven that he can put the numbers up to win a championship, while Steph did not win MVP! none of the championships would have been won without Curry's 30+ points! Period!
the reason why Kevin Durant won MVP, is because Steph was double teamed at half court, and Kevin Durant had more opportunities to score! Steph Curry is The XFactor! Steph Curry won against LeBron James, and went back to the finals the next year without KD; KD would have never won a finals MVP on his own, because he didn't before Steph Curry and KD didn't do it after Steph Curry! The end! Curry 3 championships over KD's 2, and 5 Finals Warriors appearances; the constant in the scenario is Steph Curry not Kevin Durant! FAX!

And KD was finals MVP both times they won it together. I know you'll say it was because Steph got double-teamed. Go watch Thinking Basketball's analysis video on KD/Steph. KD's playoff numbers in Golden State fall off significantly with Steph on the bench. Steph's numbers are basically identical with KD on the bench. Which is exactly why defenses prioritized Steph. And people still want to act like KD was the best or most important player on those Warriors teams. Add any scoring superstar to a Steph/Klay backcourt, and of course their numbers will go way up. That's not the point. The point is Durant has never won anything as The Man. He wasn't The Man in Golden State. In OKC he couldn't close out the team he ended up joining. And now Durant is perceived as The Man in Brooklyn but he is deferring to another person (Irving) who thinks he is The Man but don't have a clue about being The Man.

Funny how they didn't mention KD taking the OKC thunder to the finals before his prime as the bus driver. KD's point was that at this exact same age that hes at, Charles had given up on leading his own team and went to a super team that he still didn't achieve a championship with. Not to mention KD has gone through a torn achilles which no one even thinks about. KD is still trying to lead a team and frankly was the Nets ONLY consistent player the entire season.

    • @jadynariana
      @jadynariana Před 2 lety

KD went to the finals as the “bus driver” and lost, same thing happened to Charles when he went to the finals as the bus driver, even tho okc had a three headed goal granted all before their primes but when you see suns photos from those 90s teams it’s a lot of only one guy that guy being Charles. Kd went to an established championship caliber team that just came off a 73-9 season and a chip to join 3 guys all in their primes where Charles grouped up with a bunch of guys outside of their prime. In all fairness to Kd recency bias is crazy and he was injured and he has been the most consistent nets player and he has two rings and finals mvps whether you say he was the bus driver or rider on the gsw but to react on social media is a cop out to the disappointment of his nets tenure so far and to negate Charles prime in his photos just gave the media more fire. Charles just said it’s hard to be the leader and take all the blame and to basketball fans have those titles with the warriors and leave to do it alone and not succeed but be widely considered the best player with the most skilled player.

Wildes is tripping Steph deserved the first finals MVP with Durant 26-8-9 at 6'3 while being doubled and tripled/game planned for and he was on his way to deserving the second year with Durant finals MVP before that god awful game 3 in which he just was off and it happens when you're being doubled and game planned for meanwhile KD saw single coverage all game long and was even being sagged off and given free lanes to the rim because they didn't want to give up a three to Steph or Klay.

How is 6 Finals losses… “Lebron always rising to the occasion in pressurized situations”???
He manufactured championships by gathering league-stars in their primes!!!
Durant manufactured his by joining GSW!!!
    They’re the same! Not different!
    They both get asterisks!!!***
Lebron being the best player in the world… loss 6 Finals series!!! As in… ya got 7 chances to be the best.

Kd blew a 3-1 lead to the gsw to get to the finals. Then joined gsw after they won 73-9. Lebron got beat by Celtics then went to a heat team that gutted their team then had to rebuild it from ground up. Kd joined gsw where he practically just replaced Harrison Barnes. The team mostly stayed the same. Dude went to the team that embarrassed him 😂😂😂
