They start off speaking on the stereotype of autistic people being good at maths and computers, before diving into the controversial practice of type-casting Autistic people and women within the film industry.
Meditation isn't only a spiritual practice, but something backed up by science as being beneficial for mental health and wellness. Emily speaks on her own practices of Gongyo and how her meditative Buddist rituals helped improve her life.
Brought up in Tennessee (USA), in a highly conservative, Christian fundamentalist culture, full of homeschooling, homophobia, and church gatherings... Emily explains her negative experiences within the Religious groups she grew up in and when she first identified she was bisexual.
Thomas speaks on his very secular yet existentialist view on life, going into his history with Christianity and his attraction to Buddist tenants and Philosophies.
Since his youth, Thomas has always questioned the meaning of life and the experiences we have as humans... going through multiple existential crises before exploring Philosophy. Diving into his own perceptions and beliefs he entered a rabbit hole of Nihilistic despair, before realising the power and freedom it gave him for creating his own values and meaning through Positive Nihilism.
Emily and Thomas both arrived at similar conclusions about life and people, just from different angles. For Thomas it was purely theoretical and secular, for Emily it was spirituality and Buddhism.
Unconditional love for your 'enemies', healing familial relationships, Carl Jung archetypes, and the identity within passions were all explored in-depth.
Emily explains the ideas and utility behind Astrology and Tarot Cards for her own life, whilst the unconvinced host postures with position through the lens of science.
Ending on an interesting note, they look into the reasons why Autistic people may gravitate towards spirituality, Religion, and Philosophy... looking at pattern recognition or lateral thinking, influential philosophers, the need for certainty, rituals, and developing your own brand of approaching life.

I enjoy watching listening to your podcasts in the back.
I definitely can underline that autistics are creative since I'm as well. It always confused me when people told me autistics weren't creative.
To come along in this world I learned acting since I can remember.
I mean that's basically what everyone does. No baby invents how to eat for themselves being brilliantly new. They observe how the adults are doing it. Then they try it for themselves.
It's only not to confuse yourself with your act and to find ways bringing your being into the act.
    That's done by values.
I don't know. How do you guys see it?
And besides feel free contacting me, I'd like to talk to you in one of these podcasts :) in case you feel like.
    Best

The best Tarot card readers I've had were more like a good therapist than a fortune teller. A friend in college read my cards multiple times, she helped me focus what was going on in my life and talk about things. She also would never take money for it. It was part of her Wiccan faith. This episode is amazing! I'm glad it's my first. I'll tune in for more. Thank you both for sharing. I am an atheist who is fascinated by religion. Raised Roman Catholic, explored Celtic and Teutonic religions in college, and Buddhism, but landed in Atheism. Fascinating conversation. Thank you both.

I start my day knitting in the garden, generally listening to one of your podcasts. It is a great ritual and gets my head straight for the day ahead. Your work definitely makes a difference Thomas!

Countdown from any time to whatever time you need to be somewhere in seconds, rather than minutes. 10 minutes can feel like forever, but 600 seconds will fly by and you’ll be late if you don’t get moving.

I don't think OP in post 2 really understands sensory issues. I have a HUGE problem getting places on time and a lot of it has to do with getting dressed. Every single day clothes can feel completely different. I have described the feeling of the "wrong clothes" as "making me want to peel my skin off." I will find certain things that feel ok every time but society has decided we are not supposed to wear the same thing every day. Combining the feeling of wearing clothing that make me want to remove my literal skin with leaving my safe space for a full day of work with all of it's unpredictable bullshit is a nightmare. OP seems to think the outfit changes are either based on vanity or poor planning. If her partner is anything like me this is not the case. I can look great, I can have every item of clothing clean, folded and ready to wear. It. Is. A. Sensory. Issue. Why does she want her partner to be potentially incredibly uncomfortable for hours just so she can be slightly earlier or so that the random Uber driver doesn't judge them? This is ridiculous. I hope he can find a way to explain why he changes his clothes so much that will make her understand. If he is like me It's not "this tie isn't right or I look a bit wide in these pants" it's "this shirt is attacking me, these pants are tearing my skin, I wish I didn't have a body at all, *physical panic symptoms explode, so hot, so sweaty, rapid heart beat, shortness of breath, cannot focus mentally, overwhelming need to hurt myself to bring focus back to my physical body*, I wish I could just remove my skin and walk out the door." But sure, make him rush so your Uber driver doesn't think you're weird.

Though I'm atheist, I benefit a lot from Buddhistic values such as non attachment and non self which breaks my rigid thinkings.
