BAND-MAID are to women empowerment what Maidiacs are to BAND-MAID....AWESOME!
Band-Maid is that band that we fans give everything we have! We tend to spend whatever it takes to have a part of them! This group has become very special in our hearts! It’s like a feeling that was dormant for many years and then this group come out! I’ve seen them five times and each time got better and better! We dubbed them the best rock group to ever grace us in many years! During their live shows they make us feel a part of them! They are super special!!
"Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic.
Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are, along with The Warning band, almost single-handedly bringing back the joys and soulfulness of rock for people from all places and ages to hear. They do write their own lyrics...at least now and for this song. Miku (rhythm guitarist with red rose, band founder and 810 year old pigeon) writes most of their lyrics, with occasional help from Saiki, lead singer. They were allowed to start releasing their own compositions after the last song on their 3rd LP.
This makes me happy :D
Next must be a live. Agree with PT that Real Existence live would be a good next choice but you really can't go wrong. Honestly you haven't seen anything yet. They are SO good 🤘🤘🐰🔥🔥🔥😎😎😎
Yeah, like some others have recommended, *Puzzle* is the current take on a 6-year-old song. It's pretty awesome in the same way that the interior of the sun is pretty hot... she sings _Your first "hello", the sound of a puzzle piece falling into place. I'm sure you don't recall. That's fine with me."_ but you get the feeling it's _not_ fine with her.

It is a hard rock song that many people consider to be BAND-MAID's masterpiece.
It has a great acoustic version which is completely different.

@@chlooeeeexo Puzzle from their 2017 Studio Coast performance USED to be on CZcams, but after they changed record labels, it got taken down. And Now the Ladies have brought us a NEW LIVE version of it that is even better in my opinion.

After their "Just Bring It" album 90% of their music are credited to Band-Maid. The rhythm guitarist writes most the lyrics and the rest of the band composes their own parts. If you compare albums, the music they compose and write themselves are much deeper and more intricate.
Imho, the three best MV's to demonstrate their brilliance are "YOLO", "Blooming", and "Daydreaming". Oh, wait. I forgot about...nah, just go with those three.

You can't go wrong with Band-Maid. Many many fantastic songs. You can go from early to latest stuff and it's all good in different ways. They have a new live video/old song that's awesome. Also check out Dice, Blooming, and Different.

@@chlooeeeexo It's going to be even more with them. I'm over 50 and have NEVER had a band where I love as many songs by one band as them. They beat out AC/DC, INXS, Beatles, and Jethro Tull put together!

I've listened to quite a bit of music (rock is my fav) over the past 40 years, and there are about half a dozen bands in my pantheon of all time favs. This band was the first one to enter that personal pantheon in the past 20+ years. Not only that, but also the first all-female one, and the first non-English singing one. To truly appreciate this band you have to spend some time in their massive catalog - it's quality and diversity are special. My recommendation for a song to react to: "Awkward" from their 2017 Studio Coast performance. If you're more of a metal head, then check out "From now on," their recent instrumental release. For more of a ballad style song, I'd recommend Anemone or Daydreaming. 👍
Hi! Nice reaction thumbs up. On the outfits: the band is the brain child of the back-up singer, Miku. She was working at a maid cafe at the time and came up with the idea of cute maid outfits with hard rock music. The lead guitarist seems down with the maid outfits. The drummer is about so-so, she wears a maid top but wears shorts so she can sit down. The lead singer and the bassist are like "nope." So yeah the outfits actually do represent their individual personalities.
Originally they all had maid outfits, if you find the video for their song "Thrill" they all have them there. However the lead singer and bass player dumped the outfits fast. For a long time the bassist wore a black Cheongsam, which she claimed is worn by maids in China. The lead singer has basically settled on a black dress with a maid-ish head piece, that's all she wears now.
Could have sworn I left a comment here yesterday, but yeah these ladies have helped to keep me (nominally) sane for the last 3 plus years. They somehow manage to combine great hooks with prog chops, plus impress the hell out of you for just being fantastic humans. The more you hear from them, and the more you know about them, the more you will love them and become addicted to them. Just a fact - thanks for the maid react!
Great introduction Chloe! You were in the zone there! Band Maid really reach out to their foreign fans, and produce consistently sophisticated Rock compositions. Love to hear your take on "From Now On"!
They have total control of their music. From creation to the song order on their albums. Kanami, lead guitar is the primary composer with Akane, drums and MISA, bass providing the bass/drum lines. Then it goes to Miku Kobato for the lyrics, now Saiki, main vocals now co-writing. Then they go into the studio to finish with Saiki having the "We're done'.
The maid costumes are to create "the Gap" meaning the difference in what you are seeing, demure maids vs what you are hearing Hard Rock. They refer to their maid costumes as their "Battle Armor"!!
When Kabato writes and Saiki sings “Oborete to me”, Oborete ne”, it translates to “drowning to me”, “drowning right?” I never read the translated lyrics while listening to Choose Me before they recently added cc’s. Is the MV translation accurate? Does she really want to take me prisoner with no hope of release? Where do I surrender?😔
If you didn't react to Domination LIVE or Play live yet, those are the first to suggest because those are two live staples. After that, Blooming, Don't You Tell Me, Rinne/Reincarnation, Secret My Lips, DICE. It's the best band this albeit short century and they have so much variety that the only way to be disappointed is expecting to know exactly what you're going to get. As long as your only expectation is "This will be the best new song I hear all day," you'll never be disappointed. 😉

BAND-MAID is the most popular in my sense.

Band-Maid’s calling card is Domination live. It’s not their best song or best performance but it showcases so much of who they are and what they do.
The other bad around today that is most analogous to Band-Maid would be Lonesome_Blue - look at “Face the Fear” to see a slightly different but equally high quality take on all-female J-Rock/Metal. There are literally another 100 bands or more in line from there, top ten is difficult as there are so many:

Valerie Solanas outlined what's needed in her "SCUM Manifesto" way back in 1967 here is the opening couple of paragraphs:
