  • We gave our contractor grade bathroom vanity a much needed makeover with a new top, a little paint and new door and drawer fronts. This is an easy and budget-friendly way to upgrade and modernize your bathroom!
    Note about Cabinet Design/Paint Colors: Nieu has sixteen door designs to choose from and use Sherwin Williams colors so you can get the paint locally and try it out first if you’d like to see it in person. They also offer a variety of stock colors, OR you can select from ANY Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore color for just an extra fee!
    We chose the Shaker design in our own choice of color (aka a custom color) called Naval.
    ** This project is sponsored by Nieu Cabinet Doors. They are the perfect source for all the DIY refacing needs! Check out their website (nieucabinetdoors.com/) **

    Another helpful (fairly inexpensive) tool to assist with removing items is a flexible drill bit extender. It makes your drill easy to use to in tight situations.

    Quick tips.
    Number each door and drawer, so you can replace them and not have to do a lot of adjusting.
    If you are removing the top sometimes they are “glued” or “siliconed” use a putty knife or painters tool to break the seal.
    When using bondo, if you use less hardener it will harden slower. ( remember the tube is for the whole can of bondo.
    If you use squeeze clamps on fresh paint you can damage the finish or the paint can stick to the clamps.

    Tip: With Heirloom All-in-One paint or Beyond Paint [they're the same paint] no need to prime since primer is included in the paint. No need to sand. Just clean the cabinet and paint away. Two coats is sufficient.

    Fabulous! Did you remove the center vertical stile to make the doors meet? I have the same cabinet and want a more modern look. Thanks!

    • @TheKingstonHome
      @TheKingstonHome  Před 2 lety

      Thanks so much! We actually didn't have a vertical stile...if you can believe it one of our doors had a piece glued on to make it look like that! :) BUT - Nieu has directions for how to measure the cabinet openings if you have a half overlay which is essentially the same thing (here is the video - czcams.com/video/tmuP3wE2YV0/video.html) AND if you have questions before you order they were SO SO SO helpful when we reached out!

    Where did you get your mirrors with the LED lights? They look great too. Easy to install? Are they tied to your wall switch as well?

    • @TheKingstonHome
      @TheKingstonHome  Před rokem

      Hi David! I'm so sorry - for some reason I'm not getting notifications. We got them at Home Depot (and of course they have been discontinued) - but they were very similar to these: go.magik.ly/ml/1l1uu/ They were easy to install if you have basic knowledge of electrical work and they are hardwired in to the switch. We absolutely love them! Hope that helps!

    My bathroom vanity top with 1 sink is cultured marble and is 55" x 22" (late 90's style). As far as the vanity cabinet itself, It's a very smooth real Maple vanity, so it's nice but outdated maple color. Can I just paint them blue or black or white and use epoxy to re-do the top ? (the cultured top has the built in clamshell sink with a full width 55" built-in backsplash (It's all one molded cultured marble piece)). The cultured marble is that semi yellow-ish / white-ish , so yea, it's outdated. If you could recommend a company that makes the tops like what you've done, I've priced some at around 700 to 800 dollars and that's just the one sink, so that's why I was thinking maybe epoxy (stone-coat countertops) but if that's a nightmare, then I wouldn't want to do it. Any suggestions are appreciated. I will redo the linoleum floors with VINYL flooring tile (planks) that are waterproof after I level the subfloor with LATICRETE NXT Level Plus Grey 55LB, and I will paint the walls whatever is necessary to match or offset the vanity color. I really love what you did with your vanity, omg. just amazing!!!! I am in a quandary.

    The bathroom cabinet doors have this weird metal bit where the handles are (decorative, I guess) and the handle comes out but that metal bit does not. I could probably get it off with a bit of force, since I am ot having luxk with finding new doors that sre the correct size.
