  • This video will cover the upper 'DRL' 'Daytime Running Light' for your Infiniti JX35 and QX60. This is not the lower DRL that is in the fog light housing, but the upper bulb by the Front Turn Signal. This shows you the step by step process on how to change the bulb, and if you are interesting, it shows you the difference in adding an LED light instead.

      Thanks a lot! I very much appreciate those comments. Unfortunately, I can only recommend to you if you live in Canada, as most of my bulbs I actually bought off of Amazon.ca. The ones on Amazon.com or any other site may be different in quality.
      I had a lot of people ask me to do this, and even endorse some products (amazon has a payment system where I get paid if you buy off of one of my clicks, but that is not the point of it for me). I am thinking about doing that soon.
      If I do, I will keep you in mind and reach out on my recommended products. I would only recommend something I can stand behind, so I want to get quality recommendations. Stay tuned.

    Nice installation video. I have a question as to how you were able to run those bulbs without the headlights on? As far as I know those bulbs in the headlights only turn on when the actual headlight is on....one of my bulbs is burnt out so it could be that I never noticed them on during the day....but I don't think that's the case.
    Also, maybe include a portion of the video showing how the bulbs look together after swapping them out? During the day/night with and without the headlights. Would help us who are on the fence of doing such a mod.
    Nice work, keep the videos coming!

      @NexusAuto  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks Bik. As always, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Let me answer those inquiries for you.
      Those lights are only one with either the headlights being on, or if the auto starter is on. When the factory auto starter is used, only those lights turn on, and not the headlights. I used the auto starter for that video, which is why the headlights are off. However, you are 100% correct. Other than the starter, they have to be on with the headlight.
      I will definitely take note of trying different shots of the light and night for future videos. Maybe I will do a night video with all the LED upgrades at night. I have a before and after shot at in this video, at 5:18, but it looks amazing at night. I will look into it soon. With a good quality LED, this mod is definitely worth it.

    Hey man, been awhile since we last talked about our JX's. So I've been reading up on some preventative maintenance for our trucks and noticed that Infiniti continually states "inspect CVT fluid" well into the 100,000 mileage mark. However, I also noticed that Infiniti has separate tiers of maintenance recommendations/servicing. There is a 3rd tier which is considered premium servicing I believe (I forget the actual name), which actually recommends to change the CVT fluid at 96000 km. The same tier servicing states the same for about every 30,000 km. Anyways, I decided to book my JX in for the transmission flush through a Nissan Dealership (fluid has never been changed). I also learned a few things while shopping around for quotes.....The JX35 transmission fluid can only be changed in 2 ways. One, the regular way by draining from underneath the car (via drain bolt), and second by dropping the transmission lines and draining it that way. I called one Infiniti dealer and the rep there said he would require 10L for the fluid change and would charge 550 plus tax and use the second method. I then called a Nissan dealer and spoke to an advisor there, and he notified me that the fluid can only be drained about 6l or so at a time(unless it was overfilled to begin with). He also mentioned that dropping the lines would not mean having to replace 10l, since the lines should not be holding that much fluid in them (in his experience). He's going to be checking my lines prior to doing the job and if more fluid is warranted he will charge me a bit more (currently the job, including 6l is 320 plus tax through them). I'm interested in seeing how dirty my fluid is going to be, especially since someone online posted their fluid after many less miles than my vehicle and it was already considerably dirty. (I'm just crossing the 97000 km mark). How soon are you planning on doing your fluid change? IIRC your mileage was also in over the 100k mark.

      @NexusAuto  Před 5 lety

      Hey Bik, It has been a while, glad to hear from you again. This is true, I am around 104000 kms right now (good memory!). I checked my fluid last year, however, it is still had a good, if not slightly dark, hue to it. So I know there was some life left. Even though Infiniti says you will never need to be changed, and it would last the lifetime of the vehicle, as you see, that is definitely false. I still intend to change my fluid this year, but truth be told, it was not high up on my list of projects right now. I wanted to change the transfer case fluid and rear diff fluid first, as those supposedly does not last at long. I was also pursuing changing it from the drain bolt, but draining a CVT transmission from the bolt is different than draining a standard 'step' transmission, especially when refilling. I dont know if you want to wait it out a bit, because it will be done for sure, but havent gotten around to it yet.

      @@NexusAuto for me its more of a preventative maintenance item to get done for peace of mind. I havent experienced any real issues since taking ownership of the JX, but seeing as its my wife's truck and im not always driving, i want this taken care of so i dont need to worry for the next little bit. Also, general rule of thumb is usually at the 100k mark its time for transmission fluid anyways. I believe my case transfer and differential fluid has been done but ill double check. Looking forward to seeing your video!

    My 2013 QX60 (USA) doesn't have day time running lights. One of the parking lights is out. Before I replace it with the standard build, is there a way to easily convert the parking lights do a day time running light mode?

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  Před 4 lety +1

      Honestly, I cannot answer this with 100% confidence, but I don't believe it is an easy job. Physically, it is. You can wire in to where the Daytime Running Lights relay is (or would be), obtain the relay. Problem is, the DRL goes to the BCM, which is what monitors the conditions necessary for the DRL and tells it when to turn off and on. In non-DRL models, I am unsure if the BCM still sends out the signal.
      There would be other ways to rewire it and tap into systems, but that would be complex and could potentially create issues in the car.
      If there is an easy way to do it, I am unable to confirm that on my end. Sorry I could not help further on this.

    Hey! Just a quick question. My 2015 qx60 have these lights installed with the bulbs inside however they do not run. The bulbs are burned and the housing around the bulb is burned as well (the grey part the bulb goes into). Is it possible that I would need to buy a new housing for the bulbs and the bulbs themselves? Another thing, my side markers (the orange on the side of the light) do not run as well. Is it possible that something is unplugged for them to be not running?

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  Před 4 lety

      Unfortunately, without being there to test those front lights and seeing the burns in person, I couldn't definitively answer that. Depends on the condition. I have seen some that had scorch marks and they were fine, and I have seen others that were completely melted, and everything in between. Sometimes they could work, and sometimes not. The best advice I could give is to really visually inspect it. If anything looks like it could be an operational issue or a safety issue, replace it. If the housing looks usable, give it a try. But definitely look it over.
      For the side markers, when I bought my 2013 JX, it was the same thing. Not only is it fairly common on these cars, I have actually encountered many cars from many manufacturers that have blown side marker bulbs...don't know why this is a thing lol. I have replaced the bulbs with LEDs as they are still working as of now. Same as above, as long as there is nothing visually to worry about, change the bulbs. If you put new bulbs in and they still do not work, then you can look into it further.

    • @NexusAuto

      Definitely not a stupid question at all. Other than the LED bulbs themselves, the only other thing you need is resistors for the turn signals. Hi, Nexus i have a question of my QX60 daytime running light, i've changed my DRL, they should be come on with the engine and go off when headlights are turned on, but the light only turn on with headlight, and turn off with headlight, what is the problem ? I used 194 bulb

    • @NexusAuto
      @NexusAuto  Před 2 lety

      That would be correct, believe it or not. Those upper bulbs are not DRLs, just running lights. They're only on with the headlights. I don't think they have much other purpose other than a styling thing.
      The DRLs are actually in the fog lights down below. But keep in mind, depending on where you live, there may not be a DRL. Some states/countries have not made mandatory, so there is only a fog light, not a DRL. Best way to know is to check inside the housing. If there is 2 bulbs, then you have a DRL. If there is only 1 bulb, then you don't have DRLs.
