Interesting video. I’ve got an Mpi with an LCB. Recently had issues with it passing MOT emissions. Found the vacuum pipe between the stepper motor and manifold had a hole on the elbow where it sits very close the manifold. Basically it wasn’t touching but the heat (over time) has caused it to melt. Interesting to see if you notice the same issue on your Mpi
Yes I want to try and make it so I can put the cat back in if it feels better then I know it’s the cat that’s holding the engine back. By stepper motor do you mean the idle control valve on the side of the inlet with that big pipe on it
@@skidmores.garage yes that’s the one. Some places call it a stepper motor. Mine runs mega close to the manifold. Currently in the process of ordering some heat reflective sleeving to try and protect it
Those original engine steady bars were kak especially with newer minis n LCB manifolds. The engine can, potentially, move that much that the two down pipes part company with the Y piece n yer whole zorst drops down. There's upgrades for them somewhere plus one on the opposite side steadies everything up nicely.

I reckon everybody who has ever spent time working on Minis, must have cursed that top engine steady - I know I have!
It’s such c**t of a job isn’t it. Wouldn’t be so bad if ppl popped some copper grease in the assembly when fitting

I was once told that the John cooper minis had the stop removed.
I would modify it but I’m unsure if the TPS sensor is already set to 100% as it is so it would run lean after

What did you use to clean up the throttle body looks great?
