    Thank you Steve, always good to know what to expect in the field. I’ve been just using an inexpensive V mount to dummy battery solution. It’s been so nice to have a full day in one battery.

      No problem, glad you found it useful 👍 Sounds good, I have been doing some tests with the Power Junkie as well as a V Mount setup. I have been trying to keep it compact without having to use rails etc but it can get a little clunky.

    PD Power banks are inexpensive and can power the GH6. Use the Panasonic dummy battery that was designed for that purpose. Then, use the camera USBC port for an external SSD.

      I do have videos about the Panasonic DCC18 and 3rd party alternatives. This was just a response to people asking me if this is possible.

    Thanks for the video. I use inexpensive USB power banks for the S1 and S5 and they give me hours of recording time. A very budget friendly alternative to V mount power banks.

      No problem. Yeah, they can be really useful when you are not recording out to SSD. You definitely get a decent bump in battery life, especially using a USB-C PD power bank.

    I take the charger and you can plug in the power bank into it to charge batteries in the field if needed. Thanks for the tip on 3rd party batteries.

      Yeah, that's a good idea, I always take my charger along, even if it's just to top up the batteries in the car while driving. No problem, glad you found it useful 👍

    Hi Steve, many Thanks for all your helpfull videos! Can you tell me, if i can use a dummy battery and power these battery over 9V USB-C ?

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  Pƙed rokem +1

      Hey, thanks, I appreciate you saying that! There are dummy batteries that do straight out to a USB C cable but most dummy battery cables would go out to a D tap or an 8v jack. If you are asking if a dummy battery can be charged over the USB C port on the camera then that is not possible as the dummy battery holds no charge and cannot push charge to an external power source. Hope that answers your question.

      Hello Steve,
      Thank you for your quick reaction. I expressed myself somewhat misleadingly. I meant whether the camera tolerates a voltage of 9 volts, which is then fed in via the dummy battery. Or is this tension too high? Because the original battery has 7 volts

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  Pƙed rokem +1

      @@zeljkoa.2298 No problem, sorry I totally misinterpreted what you meant there. Panasonic's stance on it is just don't use external batteries. I can only really speak of what I am using but I am using the Kondor Blue BLK22 dummy D tap cable and the SmallRig V99 mini V mount battery and that has worked really well so far.

      Thanks, appreciate it 👍 I have the 2 battery charger that comes with the Newmova batteries amzn.to/3xa2Idu and I use the original charger as well. So it's a little bit of a clunky set up but it gets the job done.

    Hello again Steven, I want to use my GH6 for live streaming with Streamlabs. So when I have the battery in and connect the camera with my pc via usb-c , the camera starts but it says because it is connected please turn off the ppower while charging.
    So if I stream with my camera while it is connected to the pc and while it's charging, do you think I will run to any issues with the camera or with the battery itself? at least eventually to run to any problems? Because the battery will constantly charging for these 2-3 hours of streaming.
    Thanks for your advice.

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  Pƙed 6 měsĂci +1

      I don't think it would really have a detrimental effect on the battery. I have power banks topping up the battery for hours on end when out shooting. But personally whenever I don't have to use the battery I will use mains power like this czcams.com/video/wuXk-GsRgV4/video.html I just find it takes the strain off my batteries and I can have them charged and ready when I need to go out shooting. Its a bit of an investment but I find it is a really handy solution for any type of indoor shooting where you have access to power.

      @@CinematicCut No problem at all. It may well work, my DCC12 dummy battery for the GH5 works alright on the GH6 but I am still using the AC10 adapter to power it.

    Interesting, I would expect it to work without a battery inside. Is it the same with the s5ii or did they make so that it can run from a power bank alone?
    Also, if you have a full battery inside, I'd guess the power bank juicing it would make the battery last a lot longer, right? Like from 1.5/2 hours to I don't know, 4? 5? Or does it charge only when you turn off the camera?

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  Pƙed rokem

      I don't have the s5ii but I would imagine they both work in the same way. Yes, the power bank can deliver 2 types of charge depending on the powerbank you use, I did a video on that here - czcams.com/video/8g3GDenHxSA/video.html I have never documented the exact benefits as there are many variables at play but you do get a decent additional bit of battery life from it.

      @@stevelitton Good information. Could help a lot for weddings when the camera is not always on.
      I would also swap batteries maybe daily or when the battery runs out to keep them equally worn out.
      Hopefully I won't have issues with my 3rd party battery.

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  Pƙed rokem +1

      @@Zizos Yeah it's really useful for long shoots. I have 2 3rd party batteries that I cycle through with the original and it works fine. They are still going strong after a year.

      @ablemediaproductions Pƙed 9 měsĂci

      I've just bought an S5II and did a quick test with my power bank. I can confirm that you definitely need a battery in the camera to use the power bank. I've only done a short test so far but it seems that it powers the camera without draining (or charging) the battery and there's a little power plug symbol near the battery icon so I guess if your battery had two bars it'd stay at two bars assuming the power bank can supply enough power to power the camera alone. When you turn the camera off it charges the battery.
