Thank you for getting the base model. Seems like the base model is perfect for our office. Not everyone is a video editor or use the Mac for graphic intensive work so this video was very informative. Just need it to integrate with our iPhones, iPads, printers and other macs seamlessly throughout the office.

I reckon out of all of this year's new hardware this is one of the best change of them all. Probably not gonna get it this year but mid-next year on sale it's a very tempting machine.

Great review, have had this for 3 days now and love it. Need it for productivity mainly, don't need more graphics power. It's my first Mac in a while and enjoying it so far, glad I didn't get the MacBook Air tbh.

3:33 the 2014 mac mini used hdmi 1.4 while the 2018 mac mini uses hdmi 2.0

It's always good when you can upgrade laptop/mini computer components.
I *hate* when they make things impossible to upgrade/replace yourself.
Of course as is this isn't good at all for gaming or graphics intensive applications.
But that external GPU option is a great choice to have.

there are thumb drives 2x that size for under $50!! they gotta fix this
Apple knows that it’s not enough, that’s why they’re selling it. It’s all part of their bait and switch tactic marketing ploy, they’ve used this before. They’re doing exactly what they did with their 16GB iPhones. Up next was 64GB instead of 32GB

Even worse, the SSD is soldered so you won't even be able to upgrade to bigger SSD storage later!
I was seriously thinking on buying one of these, but this is a deal breaker, 128GB in a DESKTOP computer? wow...
And you can buy an external Harddrive of 1-2TB for much much cheaper. Rather than pay Apple’s Crazy prices

I love my late 2012 mac mini. Over the years, Ive maxed out ram and added some external HD. Im wondering if i put 2 SSDs as internal drives if it would improve it enough to keep myself from buying the 2018. Something ill have to think about lol

Could you make a video showing all your apple products.
According to some numbers I saw the other day, the i3 base option is faster (multi and single) than the top option for the late 2012 model (I am ignoring the 2014 models).
The 2012 model was/is pretty damn fast in terms of CPU.
Of course in this case if you already have that and you are considering going for a i3 model now, perhaps not the best move as while there will be a jump in performance, it won't be huge.
I am typing this as an owner of a 2.3Ghz quad core mini from late 2012.

does this mac mini work with the new apple tv siri remote? I love using the old apple remote on my 2014 mac mini. I would love if this one would be able to use the new apple remote!
I got the i7 6-Core, with 8GB RAM, and 256GB of storage and do not use the the local storage for anything. I have external drives connected for permanent storage. I upgraded the RAM myself for half the cost of what Apple charges, and connected a Sapphire Radeon Nitro+ RX 580 8GB external graphics card. I already had a pair or Apple displays so I did not have anything else to buy. Moreover, when I replaced the RAM, I actually also replaced the thermal paste on the CPU, this made it run quite a bit cooler.
In my configuration, the Mac mini is truly a beast. I DO NOT game at all on desktops, so game play is a NON-ISSUE for me.

You can connect your ipad to this using a product i forgot the name of, but you can use the ipad as the monitor and its wireless and the keyboard and pencil still work.
upgraded RAM on mine myself and saved a fortune, I strongly recommend nobody pays Apple to upgrade RAM, whilst it's a little fiddly, it can be done with ease and there are good video guides on how to do it. I got 32gb for just under half the price of what Apple wanted to charge.
