try Opeth - The Drapery Falls
One of my favorites and I'm so glad Angela liked it. The crushing weight of the guitars and vocals, and the relentlessness of the drums just really amps me up.
And for anyone with a background in Christianity, Islam, or Judaism, the lyrics are positively blasphemous (for the entire album and much of their other material actually), a point I really resonate with as an abandoner of the former. I'll definitely be thinking of more Behemoth to request in the future.
My band actually does a fantastic cover of this song, too bad we don't have any footage 😅

It is most commonly considered "blackened" death metal, which is to say, death metal with strong black metal influences (particularly the subject matter). I enjoy both genres and can see that Behemoth straddles the line, but for most of their recent material, death fits better imho.
Nergal has said specifically he doesn't like labels and has refused to label it officially.

Kinda boring reaction for Behemoth, as Behemoth's songs are intended to have a actual intelligent conversation as they are heavily written with religion, occult magick, and History in mind. Behemoth especially Nergal (vocalist) are Humanist Satanists with Thelma beliefs throw in. Also Nergal have been official studying History for years and holds a Master level History degree that allows him to be a Museum Curator. Ora Pro Nobis translate into Pray for Us, The album, gbis song came off, "The Satanist", was to show the fans and Catholic Church he was still himself, after the church try to force him to convert after time in the hospital with life threatening Illness.

@@tadhggoreyoneill13666exactly, I've just corrected someone else for saying I black. Subject matter doesn't make it black metal, Deicide were satanic and were definitely death metal. These are closer to death than black but are far enough away to be neither. That's what makes them so good imo
@@davidstanton4716 besides Black Metal sounds different in both vocals and instrumentals to modern day Behemoth too a lot more high pitched and a few years faster
And yet Behemoth is more respected in the black metal community than bands that just get identified as black metal by their musical style alone. It's complicated in other words.
@@shoujahatsumetsu well that´s because many Black Metal Bands refuse to develop. They just live the same life and have the same thinking like 20 or 30 years before. Everyone needs to grow and to develop. Behemoth does and that´s the reason why they are bigger and more respected.
