A little more explanation of the charging stops might be in order… as a model Y owner we do the same thing… you go for about 3 hours which turns out to be about 200 miles and you stop to charge for 15 to 20 minutes… what might not be understood is that you don’t drive it to zero… you could go more miles if needed, and you don’t charge to 100 percent very often either, you just add those 200 miles back in and you are off to your next stop. We have done several 700 mile days traveling to Florida, Chicago and Georgia and it adds about an hour to your travel time alone… but with a ICE car you stop too so I expect that the difference is something like 1/2 hour. An extra 1/2 to save something like 50% on fuel seems like a fair trade to me, and I arrive less beat up by walking around every few hours. And the trip planning makes it a breeze to be sure you don’t have to worry about running short on juice.

I checked an average single family house electricity consumption and the Cybertruck with a full battery should be good for at least 2 days and if you restrict to only what you need for basic comfort you could do 3 days. If you were to ration your consumption to the bare minimum, in a serious crisis you could maybe do a week.

That guy is wrong about the range. I enjoy getting out and stretching my legs and taking a break after 200 miles. I also want to eat and go to the bathroom. Especially a guy of that age. I think people really have no clue and just exercise their bias. I wonder how many miles he really drives without stopping with his wife/kids or friends with him. Plus you charge an ev while you go into the rest stop and do things, where you have to stay with the car and move it when you are done so you do not block the pump (ahem) so that takes more time with a gas car. Stops and breaks with an ev make the trip more enjoyable rather than dragging yourself out longer and stressing. People otherwise push themselves too long and make the trip less enjoyable. Unless you enjoy pain and stress. Just foolish behavior.

It's good to remember that, when you say you're getting about 200 miles per charge on a road trip, that equates to about 2 1/2 ~ 3 hours of driving. Most people are ready for a restroom/stretch break after 200 miles of driving. So, if you can align your charging with your restroom/stretch breaks, the time required to charge is not much more than in an ICE vehicle. When you think about it, the only time an ICE vehicle is better than an EV is if you're doing a Cannonball run and wearing Depends. With Tesla, their supercharger network is great, reliable, and has the capacity needed on road trips.

It mainly doesn't justify the hit the vehicle takes from added weight, friction and complexity/cost, was my understanding when this was discussed for Plaid vs. Porsche, where they do have a 2-speed with a different high-speed ratio for the Autobahn. Elon has decided to just let it spin faster instead, which necessitated the carbon-fibre wrapping of the rotor.

It was quite rattley when you launched it 0-60, that kind of surprised me.
It’s always off putting to me when someone apologizes for camera angles or background noise, blurs, etc… everyone knows this is real life and stuff happens. They need to get over themselves if they complain about it or don’t watch!

You did a very poor job of explaining a road trip in Tesla. Except during the very cold days of winter(Dec/Jan/Feb/March), if you have a model 3/Y long range or S/X , range is not a factor at all, except for people who don't pee or eat for hours of end. During winter, yes, you effectively get around 200- 225 miles per charge, if drive 70- 80 miles per hour speed. This is plenty for most human beings. Disappointed that you didn't explain this to this gentleman. No mention of the fabulous supercharge network. I am disappointed, especially since you are a Tesla employee

That range is so disappointing. I need a vehicle for 600-700km (420miles) trips. I really like the cybertruck, but the range is unacceptable.

@@anthonyd.8067 yeah you can’t always get what you want but when you were originally told the range would be substantially higher when you placed your reservation. But the Tesla fanboys will drink the kool aid.

Yeah, it's a truck with 800 hp and 35" tires, a competitor to a Raptor or TRX. If you want a more efficient vehicle, you need a car, not a monster truck.
I live 8 miles from work, so I can drive an off-road truck and not be bothered too much by efficiency. My dad had a 1.5 hour commute each way for years, so he got a Jetta Diesel with 42 mpg. Tesla Fanboi's are gonna be faced with a dose of reality about how it's not efficient at all. EVs are efficient with small wheels to rotate from a start, lots of stopping to regen, and not the size of a truck to push through the air at higher speeds. If you wanted to wreck the range of an EV, you'd basically build a Cybertruck and try to drive it on the freeway. It's cool and I would take one if somebody gave it to me, but it's not saving the planet by saving energy at all. Just wait till people realize how much it's gonna cost to replace those tires, which it'll burn through pretty fast (putting rubber and chemicals into every stream along the way, btw).

It's "unacceptable" because you are in such a hurry that it's not possible to do a single charging stop on a 420miles trip? 🤔
Okay, then this vehicle isn't for you. It's fine for the people who can survive a break on a 420miles trip without needing therapy for such an emotional disaster.
