The thing is unless Intel make a wonder CPU/APU you are always better going Ryzen with a mini PC. The only other example is when going low power. Intel is king with the N100. If you don't want a Raspberry Pi. Good wee video though as always.

Intel cpus are pretty good at video transcoding. If you're planning to build media server and don't wanna spend money on gpu, Intel apu is your best bet.
@@gorjy9610 cpu performance is better on the intel 12900hk, and you get it at cheaper prices. server usage is king on mini pc's and i have 2 12900hk's for my usage

Love the vid! Is it possible to add helldivers 2 to your testing suite? I think it would be interesting to see how a "sort of" indie title would hold up. (Especially interesting for me because i have an inking suspicion that running on amd hardware makes the game crash, I run a 6700xt with it). Once again thank you for reading my wall of text and keep up the amazing work!
It's already on the test suite for my graphics card reviews, but I'll certainly consider adding it for some of the more gaming-focused mini PCs. This little fella wouldn't have a hope, unfortunately!
I would have recommended using ThrottleStop as opposed to XTU. Gives you more options to fiddle with. Quite frankly I've had a lot of success with it undervolting a CPU that XTU otherwise wouldn't do anything with. Turns out, although the cores wouldn't undervolt, the cache would! And that made a massive difference!
My experience with Throttlestop lately has been that it's something of a "Greyed-out Option Simulator 2024", but maybe it's worth giving it another shot?

Tried XTU and Throttlestop on my 13900HX, XTU imo is a heavier software, bloated almost whereas TS I've definitely gotten better success and more extreme stable undervolting with it on the cache, P And E cores.

When you mentioned it had the old Iris Xe iGPU, I knew it would game like trash. At least it is good for office work and programming.
i don't really understand the obsession with cramming an i9 in a minu pc of all things. If u really want to do it then just make somr practical adjustments like adding fans with more blades , thicker and bigger heat skin and slightly bigger case , thermal pads and heatsinks for ram & ssd. Ye at this point just build a SFF ITX case 😂
those are ususally sold to corpos not normal users.
I wish Mini PC makers choosing to alter the original NUC form factor, went the bigger direction than the smaller. People complain about the temperatures and/or throttling, not of how big these machines are.

I always been curious about these brands. Why they do go with an intel? If there is no dgpu, why would not you just go with an amd chip?
Never underestimate selling power of i9 branding.
If it's a mobile Intel CPU, there's an Erying motherboard with it. And yes, there's a Mini ITX motherboard with it from them. And a Micro ATX one with the 12900HK.

did you undervolt as well? its just that you can sometimes undervolt a bit and lower power draw to help with temps
12th gen can't be undervolted.
@@ARCx9You can with ac loadline, I did it on my laptop with 12450h. Throttlestop and all other options of undervolting are locked, except the ac loadline method. I ran a modded bios with an usb stick to unlock that in advanced bios.

This CPU is better than mine. Granted, my computer costed less before taxes and has a _much_ better GPU, but this is still very impressive.

How? Board support only DDR4, fact that CPU support both doesn't mean a thing when mbo is DDR4 only.

There's something amazing about such small factors PC. The way they're minimalistic and still portable that you can carry your whole a s s PC in your bag is astounding.
Okay. I am aware of smartphones and whatnot and that we require a monitor and blah blah, but it feels so much better to start a mini PC than a huge 5000w PC.
The mini PC is really cool and impressive… it just seems too expensive for what it offers.

Is that really battlefield 5, seems like an online fps game that I would play in school computer that to have stutters.
I'll never understand why they put thermally restricted parts that will never reach their peak potential into laptops and mini-pc's. Just put a more efficient i5 or something. At least those will always reach their potential.

I see no point in mini pc's with an i9 or a ryzen 9. They dont have the single laptop advantage, mobility, but have all of its drawbacks. They are too hot, throttling for any actual heavy multi core work like rendering, too powerful and needlessly power hungry for work where just short bursts are required like photoshop, and absolutely overkill for office.
People who just wanna browse the web and do office are perfectly fine with a mobile Pentium or i3. For those who do photo editing and photography on top of office, a mobile i5 is more than enough, while anyone who is doing cpu intensive tasks like rendering, science and occasional gaming just gets a real full workstation with a cpu like the i9 14000K.
dark arisen isn't a remaster/remake
It's just the 'game of the year' version essentially. The pc release is just the dark arisen version with all the original full assets, nothing 'remastered' really.

DDR4 is disappointing for this price in these foreign dollars.
When specifying specs, please complete the 3.2 spec as Gen 2 may be more appealing, especially as 10Gb/s can support some decent speeds when using external M.2 drives to expand the storage capabilities.
1% of gameplay really is a very tiny percentage, which I would argue is far from intolerable n comparison with the other 99.
