That's definitely two episodes worth of fabrication! The overdrive on the new clutch is really going to help get this lawnmower up to 60, and there's plenty of power handling reserve now for when you fit a stupidcharger

The funny thing is that you basically built a similar car to the DAF 600 from 1959 which had a 22hp 590cc aircooled boxer twin with Variomatic. It weighed about 640kg.

your channel is taking off man. honestly im glad i get to see everything taken apart and put back together, kind of like how TV shows in the early 2000's and before used to occasionally do a "last time" segment at the beginning. came here because i wanted to buy a clapped out honda insight and i somehow found your channel. thankfully you talked me out of it and i learned how to spoof the analogue voltage outputs on my 02 civic's MAP/MAF sensor by making a ghetto rigged "MAP enhancer" (just a potentiometer wired in line with the output of the MAP sensor and a rocker switch to either bypass the pot or use it) which let me get scratch the hwy MPG lean burn bug instead of starting a new project car from hell. i figured it was okay to mess with this since honda themselves built a lean burn version of my model civic. got up from ~36-42 hwy mpg up in the low 50's. was driving a lot but finally killed that car with ~400k miles on it when teaching my gf how to drive stick turned into impromptu cardio. owell, got a chevy volt a few months ago once the prices came down since WA state added a ~1.50$/gal gas tax this year.
I am learning more than i thought i ever could about cars from your channel. theres nothing else like it on youtube and thats why your channel will keep growing like crazy. thanks for doing all this work. you have to be retired... so much effort goes into these videos for someone who doesnt get millions of views on every video (yet). hope that means youre doing stuff you always wanted to but never had time/re$ources.
thanks for uploading man, have a good day :)

We knew something was up when an extra week passed without an entry. And the result is an amazing fix. I have a brother with a big old industrial lathe in his garage (there went a whole wall of storage space), which is fun to watch, so it was great to see what you do with yours. That new clutch looks much more substantial and likely to work once you get everything lined up and dialed in. We await the zero to fifty data with great anticipation. With that broad range of ratios, maybe even zero to sixty! Quarter mile through the traps!

Wow Jimbo, you have REALLY been busy! Thanks for all the effort in putting the video together, I don't expect that much work each week, that sounds like overload! Yeah, 1 and 2 cylinder air-cooled lawn mower engines are not known for refined operation so, a generous de-rating of mounts, CVT, driven shafts, belts, and etc. is always a good idea. Using 1 or 2 large cylinders to make power results in huge torque pulses to the entire system.
Your engine/CVT cradle has held up well considering all the abuse. For designs that complex, I make a CAD drawing ahead of time, which also catches some design problems before parts get carved out. Yes, I know the basic, engineering sketch on a napkin has launched many revolutionary ideas, that and it saves time for basic concepts.
Keep up the fine work Jimbo, each one of your videos is very interesting, even with the gnomes ocasionally interfering. 😂
