I dunno, man. I mean, she never once calls him out whenever he's in the wrong. She's really of no help to him whenever he actually is in trouble. She barely knows him. The one argument she had with him felt like an impending break-up than a "you're better than this" argument, given how manipulative her actions then could be seen as. And despite the crush, Ash never once sees her as anything more than merely a friend. If that means that Serena's "perfect" for Ash, then Lavender Brown is"perfect" for Ron Weasley, or Davis Motomiya is "perfect" for Kari Kamiya, to name some examples.

My emotions are an absolute mess nowadays when I think about XY and XYZ. It was at the most important stages of my childhood, and the nostalgia can be downright sickening to me at times. I miss those times so much, Pokemon XY and XYZ will live in my heart for the rest of my life. It defines a lot of what I value and some of the mottos I live by. Cringe? Sure. But they are who I am. I cry thinking about what my life was like then. This was what kept me sane while everything tried to collapse around me. Amourshipping was my first time truly being invested in a fictional romance. It even had me interested in real life romance, lol.
Pokemon XY & Z, from the bottom of my heart… thank you. Thank you for everything, thank you for being everything I needed. Kids show? Who cares. It’s my favorite anime of all time, chalk it up and argue a wall. I love Kalos and I miss Kalos.

My top 5 reasons Serena and Ash make a good couple (please don’t hate)
5. Serena has a canon crush on Ash: I know Misty and other side characters like Ash, but none of them has been pushed as far as Serena’s
4. Serena’s personality is charming: She cares a lot about Ash, don’t deny it. She’s also very sweet, but gives tough love when needed
3. They knew each other way back: They met each other when they were probably like 6-7 years old. Sadly, Ash forgot who she was when they met up again 😞😭😭😒😒
2. They have a good dynamic: They cheer each other on in battles/showcases - after the dramatic 10 year old fight with snowballs, they apologize to each other, making their friendship even stronger - they don’t bicker with each other like normal 10 year olds
1. They were the only ones to kiss on the lips. I know it may not seem like much, but that’s a big this for a show like Pokémon. I don’t think they would bring a character that sticks around for 3 seasons, has a canon crush on the main character, AND kisses him just to leave her in the dust. Plus, she’s one of the most popular pokegirls.
I know that Misty has/had a canon crush on Ash (she could’ve moved on by now), but that was because Ash was supposed to marry Misty when they though pokemon was ending at the original series. Now, I think it’s less likely for them to become a couple because Misty could’ve moved on by now.
*(No hate to Pokeshippers, I also like Pokeshipping)*
also, I know a lot of people say that it’s one-sided, but I think all ships with Ash are pretty one-sided. Plus, Ash was even more dense than usual in XY&Z. But still, there’s a few hints for different ships for Ash’s side:
hints for Misty: Ash getting jealous, but that’s whichever way you see it
Hints for Serena: Ash giving her the ribbon, Ash inviting her to travel with them, his eyes glowed when Serena kissed him, etc.
And other hints for different characters
I agree with your points and also respect that you have some valid points (unlike those people who say that as pikachu never shocked Serena, they will go together). But there are some points which indicates that amour lacks something very important for a romantic couple. The points which I noticed were -
1. Fights: All the long term females who are shipped with Ash had a fight with Ash which improved their relationship, until Serena came. Sure, it isn't bad as they made something new, but you know, fights make your belief on partner stronger. For example, Whenever Ash and Dawn crossed their thoughts, they became a much mutual couple than before. They always understood how bashing their opinion on their partner is not a good idea. Also, it shows that you believe on your partner so much, that you think that he\she will always accept your opinion. This was absent in prime earth, at least it was there in mirror dimension
2. Kinda forced : Serena was shown to be a fangirl of Ash who thinks that Ash is perfect (who won't after seeing him jump from towers and defeating Ground types with electric moves). She even had a crush on him, which was one of the reasons why I like her. But, we never even think that whether Ash also likes her or not. Serena had full control over Ash. But still, it felt that Ash is forced to be with her.
3. Comparative to older shipps : If we compare amour to any older shipp (except Negai), they tend to be superior to amour. Ash enjoyed, had a great combination with them and even felt their sorrow. Again giving example of Pearl (you could have come to know why), when Dawn lost her consecutive 2nd contest, Ash was shown as depressed as he was when he lost Kanto league. But, he didn't had that level of sorrow towards Serena's loss.
These were the points which indicates that amour lacks something very important. I won't say amour is bad, but it feels forced like “I saw you in my childhood and I like you, so you should also like me” type. Anyways, you are right in your place and I hope that you will be able to understand what I want to convey =)

I think all of those are keys that Amourshipping indeed lacks, which is also why I’ve grown to love some of the ships like Pearlshipping and Pokeshipping just as much. I think the main thing I like about Amourshipping is the fact that their one fight was a huge one. It wasn’t a fight that’s just about two ten year old bickering about stupid topics, but instead, it was a fight that did make their relationship stronger. In that fight, Serena realized that Ash isn’t perfect, but that’s what made her love him even more. I feel like that fight was a fight that two people in a relationship would have. I also like the fact that they didn’t bicker way too often since in a relationship, that makes it a lot easier to break up. I feel like fighting too often about silly topics is more of a best friend relationship.
If Ash ends up liking another girl like Dawn for example, I think Serena would obviously be jealous, but she would accept it because of how much she loves Ash. She would want him to be happy, even if it’s not with her. I think that season 1 Serena would be furious, but Season 3 Serena would accept it, even if it hurt. From the start of the series, she just had a fangirl type of crush, but in the end, it was shown that it wasn’t just a silly crush anymore. Unlike all of the other girls, she pushed herself to show her actual feelings to Ash, (by kissing him), which is something I love about her.
The 3rd reason you stated is definitely a reason why I like Pearlshipping just as much as Amourshipping, and I agree that amour definitely lacks it. Although, I do think it’s good that Serena learned to heal from her lost on her own (like cutting her hair to show that she’s starting new again). I think that this also helped her in her development to become more mature
Now, I do understand that Amourshipping sounds like shipping an Ash fangirl with Ash, but I think that there’s so much more to it. It’s the first time that I felt like I wasn’t just shipping two best friends; it felt more as if I was shipping two people from a romance manga. (But this is all my opinion)
A lot of the things that Amourshipping lacks could be used as a relationship development arc, which would be great for possible romance. Since there’s so many things that Amourshipping needs, that always leaves the possibility for the two to get even closer in terms of relationships if Pokemon ever decided to take that romantic route. It isn’t a perfect relationship, and it needs a lot more aspects before it can be a healthy and loving relationship, but that’s my favorite part about it
