  • This video will show you a way to go hiking off-trail in the Yellowstone winter. But please don't do this by yourself unless you have experience. In fact, in all months of the year, go off-trail in Yellowstone with at least one other person, until you have plenty of experience.

    I grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I inherited a pair of Alaskan shoes from my dad 43 years ago. They are heavier than my metal ones but are the way to go if not on a packed trail.

      May and June are the best times for seeing wildlife. June is probably the best month for hiking. May normally has a lot of snow pack still, but maybe not this year. Hope you make it up here.

    Very interesting video, Stan. Thanks for sharing with us the beautiful scenery of Yellowstone in the winter and for confirming what I've always suspected as to the method by which videographers get their video shots in the outdoors. One aspect that still puzzles me is how a "video-hiker" gets those aerial shots while their hiking (there's no evidence that they are controlling the drone and they profess to be all alone). Thanks, again.

    • @StanMills
      @StanMills  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Not sure. Do you know a video that I can look at to see? I did a couple videos outside of the park about 10 years ago and had a drone following me to shoot video. But now days I hate video from drones and click off as soon as I see it.

      @@StanMillsI'll have to find one. I think that Eric Hanson (formerly of Backpacking TV) does this in some of his videos. When used to illustrate the horizon and surrounding beauty, I like it. When used to view down on the subject - not so much.

    Hi Stan - just wondering where you are located on this hike. Parked beside Hwy 191, then crossed the highway to begin your hike? I remember a trail over on that side of the highway from the parking area but unsure if im right. I absolutely love that stretch of hwy 191. It's gorgeous! Thank you for the video!

      @StanMills  Před 6 měsíci

      Thank you very much. That would be a nice thing. But I don’t belong to a church or religion. I am a Christian that has God central to my life. I spend my life with the Bible and listening to the amazing Holy Spirit that God gave me to learn about Jesus and to grow in faith every day. In other words, I don’t really listen to people’s interpretations of what God says any more (religions), but rely totally on the Holy Spirit and the Bible. I do spend a lot of time with friends talking about our amazing God also. Thank you and have a great day and may God bless you.
