    This is probably one of the BEST Guilty Gear Strive money matches to happen ever had some INSANE gameplay to back it up: Panda PunkDaGod vs Moist Esports Hotashi. After Hotashi won Bamboo Battles, he talked some mad stuff to everyone, including calling out Punk and his Sol. So you know Punk had to shut him up by taking up his FT15 offer. I watched and analyze the set and see just what the best Sol Badguy can do against the best Nagoriyuki.

For me, it comes from reluctance to try something new and getting punished, due to how well my normal plan works most of the time. • @MrSupedoSpade
    @MrSupedoSpade Před 3 lety +72

    8:24 that being said though, Nago isn't really the type of character that can freely protect himself imo. Nago HAS to make those guesses on if the opponent is gonna jump in on him or run up. Because if he guess too late, he now has to deal with jump in to pressure or run up throw into Oki.
    I genuinely don't blame Hotashi for throwing out as many 2S, 2H, and 6H's as he did. It's scary as hell when you feel like someone's bouta run up on you and you really don't want them to get in for free when you don't have any defensive tools.
    What was Hotashi to realistically do that didn't still put him at a disadvantage? It's weird because in those situations you'd think the character with the big ass sword and biggest normals would easily shine, but the second you get into level 2 blood, Nago neural at high levels boils down to 1 beyblade and 2-3 Fukyo for Nago to get in and get anything started.

    • @IveGoneAstray
      @IveGoneAstray Před 3 lety +29

      The problem is Hotashi's neutral became too rigid as it failed him instead of applying variance to it. He didn't try throwing in fakes in the later rounds(F.SS-> block instead of buttons). Always charging head first when he got his turn. So many times if he had instead went for a 214K on block into pressure instead of losing his turn he could have gotten easy rounds. He also loved going for multiple special moves in combos for highest damage or for corner carry, but then proceeded to die after BR.

    • @brolylegendaryssj
      @brolylegendaryssj Před 3 lety

      Well there he made a mistake. He either reacted too late to the hit, mis-inputted or both (there definitely looks like a mis-input but I don't know how soon after the hit he tried to dash) and then panicked and went in anyway. If he would've dashed forward after 5h hit he could've done another 5h that would either hit or give chip damage. And been in the perfect range to just "zone" punk out.
      Not only that but at that distance you can react to a jump, he was pretty far away and he wouldn't have been able to cover enough distance in the air for 2h to whiff. So he could've reacted and done 2h and if they blocked it while in the air you can dash in for free.

    • @baltharaaz9847
      @baltharaaz9847 Před 3 lety +1

      @@IveGoneAstray As far as f.SS into block goes, you have to have conditioned _the hell_ out of your opponent. It's -7, so you're gonna get punished at a lot of ranges due to its massive forward momentum.

    • @IveGoneAstray
      @IveGoneAstray Před 3 lety

      @@baltharaaz9847 I feel like thats the whole point of Nago since he can special cancel off all his blocked moves, & back-fukyo putting Nago at his optimal range to reset pressure. You force them to start back dashing, and jumping because Nago can punish DP, mash and supers with the rinse repeat offense. If you do a good enough job, eventually they give up their turn on their own

      When punk is able to get in peoples head, it’s downright terrifying. Him and sonic fox do super well at reading the “feel” of their opponent, and adapting to that.
      Beating them seems to usually require you out reading them or being able to play very calm and consistent on both offense and defense for long periods of time, like GO1 in DBFZ or idom in sfv. Both players are so fun to watch for that reason, you can really see the mind games going on for them and their opponents 👍

    Take this how ever you want but hotashi got full of himself with his Evo win and started trash talking and he messed up and trash talked the wrong person and got rolled for it.
    This is a lesson in sportsmanship. You win a turny like Evo you put that trophy on your shelf and be proud of it. Dont go down talking other players cause you won. Cause there are people who will crush you for free because you insult them and wont be nice about it. rewatch those first matches up till punk started losing. you can tell he was out for blood. As much as I love playing nago, it's sometimes a headache doing so, I just hate his frames on his normals, the start up on most of his moves is just too much for the fact that the recovery sucks as well as his sword has a hurt box too lol and I get punished for whiffing because reacting a lot of the time is just not possible so it's exactly how kizzy said u have to just try to make a read if it works good, if it don't you're gonna eat shit and that's for most of the characters because they have much better movement than nago has good frames, so it's just a bunch of in and out dashing, jump forward air back dash backwards to get u to press a button then crush u

    • @udderhippo
      @udderhippo Před 3 lety

      Punk is a streamer/entertainer as well as an amazing player. Trash talk gets views, it's the oldest trick in sports entertainment. Look at boxing/UFC etc. He saw a chance to jump in the spotlight, make some $$$, spread his name and dent a rival's ego. All part of the job. "Taking it hard" would be crying in his room rethinking his choices.
      He was drinking and AFAIR hanging with friends before the match, whilst watching the stream. Pretty much every human can relate to having a tipsy im-gonna-show-off moment. That's all it was.

      Trash talk is funny, if you watched while he played he was still saying “nice, that was good” when he felt Hotashi made good plays. You don’t do that when you don’t like someone or take something so personally. He was just enjoying himself and proving to Hotashi he can beat him. Can’t just let Hotashi talk and say he all humble when he not. He just said stop it and let’s play and see who is better. Let the game talk.

    Sol is 100% busted and there is no arguing about it. The frame data speaks for itself. If you play him you always have an unfair advantage over everyone else and are carried by it. Yes, even ater the last patch. Looking forward to when Sol is nerfed into the ground and Sol players finally need to play on everybody else's level.
    Punk is really good but he has nothing to brag about winning over Hotashi's Nago by three points. Also he was being petty and butthurt from the get go, very little class anyways. Hotashi on the other hand took one of the underdogs of the roster, uncovered his potential and taught the world a lesson by winning EVO with it. That's what a top player is. Punk relied a lot on Sol's unfair privileges which need to be nerfed (e.g. plus on block fS, he Is the only One in the roster to have It, and double hitting anti air 3f 5K), he has nothing on Hotashi. I would bet anything Hotashi would leave him at 15 - 8 if they played again
