He was an England regular in the early 90's under Graham Taylor. He won the league twice with Arsenal in '89 and '91. He was also selected regularly by Hoddle and scored in the world cup shoot out with Argentina.
The only England manager who didn't select him was Venables between '94 and '96 - that was probably due to him admitting his addiction problems during Venables' reign.

When you are up against pro anything they just stand out as The Bull and Merson do here. I attend jam sessions and I remember handing over to a guy who had played with a very big band for 5 years then sessions with everyone from Jack Bruce to Robin Trower and his playing was another level but more than technical skills it was his timing which was the most impressive and that comes with experience.

Tubes surprisingly comfortable and metronomic on the ball. I know none of his passes were insanely far but he was very calm and had a solid touch on him throughout the game. Competent. In other news, how hilarious was Bullard's roast on Lloyd Griffith lmao finally someone doesn't stroke his ego and support this notion that despite his meatball physique he's a great or at least average goalkeeper like christ that was a shocking performance.

I witnessed a 7 a side game between two company teams when our team had Kevin MacDonald ex Liverpool player a a ringer. The man barely moved and totally dominated the game.
