If everyone would think like Mr. Klaus does, EU would be an union of prosperous states, very strong, very high-technological.

Thank you for standing up for real democracy!!

Lets see if I got this right
Klaus: I disagree with what is going on for these reasons. Response: (with booing and walking out!) Well thank you for recognising the authority of this Parliament. before you couldn't of spoken here (because it did not exist?) We are important because we have made 75% of European Laws and with this Treaty we will make 100%. If we did not make the laws the laws would be made by 'bureaucrates' (elected governments!) in europe.
Is this an argument? RIP Democracy.

you see we were allowed to vote years ago on the constitution, not the lisbon treaty. we were allowed to vote because our PM thought we would all comply. when over 75% of our population said no to what officially wasnt a refurendum (they asked for our opinion). if less people showed up to vote or the difference between yes and no was marginal the PM would have overturned it. now you see, we didnt get to vote for the lisbon treaty because the PM knew what the result would be.

We all hated him in that time, but after 10 years, I have to say he was right about Lisabon treaty, we should not accept that. EU is good project and I am not against euro, but you see how it ends when EU can speak to governments and threat with judges if some country creates some law which EU doesn't like - you see how it ended, look on UK, French fishers were stealing their fishes for dozens of years and that's only little piece of their conflict with EU. Now, after Lisabon treaty, we have to accept all EU bullshits like gun laws and milion other bullshits and if we say no, they threat with EU judges and sanctions.

@Napoleon501ste You really must be joking. The EU is only democratic on paper. But then so was the USSR. The sheer arrogance of the way in which the parliament treated Klaus is a sure indicator of not only its legitimacy but also its willingness to listen to dissent. Their behaviour was disgusting and if they treat a President of a member nation like this then what chance the rest of us? I actually wrote to my MEP complaining about this and she answered me as if I were an idiot..

Igor, I am glad there are still Croats who regard themselves as Slavs.
I do not mind scientific researches into the genetic makeup of some ethnic groups however it is obvious that, in this case, the whole issue is geo-politically motivated.
I am quite convinced Germany is behind pulling the Hrvati from the Slavdom.

The walkout here demonstrates spectacularly the conceited arrogant and anti democratic attitude that pervades this corrupt money guzzling hulk of an organisation. I understand that for the last 14 years the auditors have refused to sign off the accounts. I wonder why???

EU is a Soviet Regime or very close to it. If continue so will be a full Soviet Regime. I'm from Italy and our economy its very oppressed by Eu colonialism. Its a regime, we dont want it and dont need it, not in such way. USA respect regional polics and needs like Roman Empire. EU not, its a comunist crazy way to manage economy !! EU recession its worse than American ones. WE should instead reinforce our USA alliance and relationship.
