    Friendly tip from one hunter to another. To help save from false readings, and unwanted chatter, it's always recommended the first wrap of the coil cable goes OVER the shaft, and not under. If the coil cable starts it's first wrap going under the shaft, once you have the detector extended and angled out in front of the user, that bottom wrapped cable can only be 2 to 3 inches away from the back of the coils internal wiring. This can cause erratic behavior, false readings/signals & a frustrating chatter that will mean you end up putting the sensitivity so far down, that you loose a big amount of depth, as well as possibly missing those small items like gold earrings, small rings, and other relics that you would otherwise want your Simplex to pick up on with ease.
    Hope that helps you out lady friend!
    CHEERS & HAPPY HUNTING!!

      I have had both ways and never noticed a difference. I tend to go with what causes less stress on the cable (if the connector is behind it comes from the back and around. If in front it goes from the the front) Have you truly seen a difference? I have heard back and forth on this for YEARS, but I can tell you, even this way Simplex loves the deep smalls. I will check with the NM engineers and find out their stance. Thanks for bringing it up ! Xoxo

      @@SirenKimmie Thank you for replying to me, though I would of understood if you felt my comments weren't warranted a reply. I find I sometimes rub people the wrong way, though it's often not my intentions. So thank you again. As for wondering if I've ever seen any difference? Actually, yes I have. It was with a Teknetics T2 detector, and for 3 days I could not get it to be quiet enough to get any real depth out of it, as sensitive was so far down. I couldn't find or hear anything past 4". This is one of Teknetics most powerful prospecting detectors too, so I was sure there was an internal issue with it, until I found an old analog detector user/repair man, who told me to wrap the cable over top and immediately, I could move sensitivity right up and was finding items as deep as 15". It was my 1st Tek too, and I was about to leave a very ugly review on it, until Sam, my old analog fella helped me out. However, he did say that there were folks like you that felt there was little difference, but said, as you did, as long as you live enough slack in the upper part of the cable, in his opinion, it really should go over the top 1st. Not only for that, but with the right amount of slack in the cable at the upper part of the shaft, the coil moves completely free all the way back, and all the way forward, thus ensuring none of the internal wires can are ever be pulled to taunt that they could break internally, which as we both know, is never a good thing. But YES PLEASE ask the folks at Nokta what they say, as I have the Simplex, as well as their FORS CoRe, and their FORS Relic detectors, both are the Pro package with 3 coils too. So if their advice for their machines is anything other then mine, well then, who am I to say otherwise... no? LOL
      Thanks again for your reply & keep up the good work on your vids, you are extremely thorough, which, I'm sure is a blessing to all those newbies!
      CHEERS & HAPPY HUNTING!

      @@NoSoup4U2 Of course I would respond and no you didn't rub me the wrong way. ;) This topic fascinates me actually. I do recall Garrett having suggested over the top but never indicated it being due to interference. I have never seen another manufacturer say it matters either way. The important thing being not too much slack where the cable is jigging and not too taut causing undo tension on the connector at the coil and the control box. If my coil connection is behind the shaft I wrap from behind for this reason. If it is next to or in front, I wrap from the front. I figure... Cables are shielded so they should not interfere other than if they are moving during detecting where the coil can pick up the movement. But I am also not an engineer. So I have posed the question to NM and will let you know what they say. I did find an article where manufacturers weigh in on the topic and Garrett machines require cables wrapped over the top, however their cables connectors are on the side or front of the shaft If i recall.

    I can't wait til they have a beach and out in the water.detecting session.for children sponsored by some big metal detecting company like nokta and a big metal detector club.I been to several of these large events and to see them children compete with the assistance of their parents was awesome.Reason I would pick Nokta for a sponsor is the simplex is the perfect detector for on the beach for youth because it will be in the price range for underwater detecting for children could you imagine what such an event would be like at the nearest river,lake or ocean.I can tell you it would be simply awesome.

    You gave a great descriptive showing of this detector. I just received mine today from Amazon (2 days early) and got it put together easily. My last detector was a basic set up but was still fun for my and my two sons. I decided to get this one after my last one got wet and took an early end. I am fascinated by all the option and settings this machine offers, and I really want to get to understand all of it's functions. I live near woods, swamps, and the Atlantic Ocean beaches here in Florida and plan to make those my hunting spots. I love being able to hold things that were forgotten for only God knows how long, Guess that's why after retiring from the US Marine Corps. Great introduction video, thanks for posting. I'm looking into purchasing one for wet sand beaches. It looks like the buttons are stiff on the controls, is that the case. Do you know if you can auto ground balance for wet sand and shallow water?

    • @SirenKimmie
      @SirenKimmie  Před 4 lety +1

      Do a search on beach detecting with the Simplex. There are lots of suggestions for various conditions and tips on how to ground balance. Each situation can be unique. Some gb in field then switch to beach, some detect using field. Some gb to 0.0. But lots are having success on the beach and water for sure. Fresh and salt. The buttons are nicely sealed and waterproof so at first they are a little stiff but soften over use. Keep in mind you are not constantly pressing the buttons. (Just if you use the pinpoint and/or mute).

      @SirenKimmie  Před 4 lety +1

      We have not tested any earphones other than the Nokta Makro green, blue, wired, and the ezwander setup. I am not sure as far as battery life, it lasts for a really long time. If you are nervous about it running low you can use any juice pack with the included USB cable. I have saved soooo much money not buying batteries anymore. It truly does last a long time. I have used it on and off for a month with no recharge, and also done long days and never had it run out. Xoxo

    Just out of curiosity ,I got my NMS+ yesterday and I noticed the under coil cap wasn't really a coil cover but rather a cap to protect the epoxy fill for the copper windings of the DD, I lifted the cap and can see the white resin, you said in this video Siren yours "came with a coil cover which is nice" was it really a coil cover or just a cap? Kellycodetectors is where I got mine and they have coil covers which I just ordered to cover up this really thin cap that came on this coil. It's pretty thin. Just wondering if you can confirm your really did come with a cover or was it just the coil under cap? Thanks great video I saved it in my playlist as it is very easy and simple to follow one of the best in my opinion. Thnx Jerry "The Mining Monkey".

    • @SirenKimmie
      @SirenKimmie  Před 4 lety +2

      The bottom of my coil is a greyish colored resin. I consider that the "bottom" of the coil and you COULD use it without the coil cover, but I wouldn't any more than I would use any other coil without a cover. But I do see what you're meaning. I don't think you need to add any further protection though. The resin appears to be thick and the cover does a great job. I've had mine out a lot and I'm not gentle .. no cracks or any issues. Keep in mind Nokta Makro has great customer service and warranty so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

    • @SunsTo7
      @SunsTo7 Před 4 lety

      The coil is encased in a vulcanized plastic and no coil should ever be exposed. Nokta gives you a free snap on coil cover as a courtesy which gives further protection from extra rough wear and tear.

    It seems the plastic latches on these units are fragile and break easily. Mine was broken before assembly and first use. A manufacturer rep seemed to intimate this was a common problem, telling me he was trying to figure out the source of the broken units. Seems I wasn't the only one with this issue.

    May I ask which PInpointer you use with this detector? I bought the nokta Makro PInpointer and it created massive chatter! Frequency shifting doesn’t solve the problem. Found out my pro-find Minelab works flawlessly with this detector however. I was wondering which PInpointer you use.

    • @SirenKimmie
      @SirenKimmie  Před rokem

      The pinpointer you have is on the same frequency as the detector which causes the chatter. I use that one, and I just move the detector away when i am pinpointing.

      @kim___ Před rokem

      @@SirenKimmie hi Kim, thanks for replying, unfortunately the pinpointer even creates chatter when turned off. Decided to stick with the Pro-Find. Glad you found a way to minimize the problem though 👍 Happy hunting! 😀

    \

    • @SirenKimmie
      @SirenKimmie  Před 4 lety

      Personally I do not use the pinpoint feature. I have developed a habit of quick short swings, then step around to the side and do the same and this helps to narrow down in a sort of criss section. For me this is quicker. But near the center of the coil is the idea. Xoxo
