Hey everyone and welcome to my how to play hms lightning video, latest edition in a series how to play british destroyers. This video contains all my own personal wows lightning gameplay and commentary. This wows lightning review contains the captain skills, upgrades and reason for picking this wows lightning build so you can fully understand this hms lightning tutorial.
Lightning - British Tier VIII destroyer.
Hms Lightning was An L-class destroyer, a next step in the development of J-class ships. In comparison with her predecessors, hms lightning wows had fewer torpedo tubes and new, more powerful 120 mm guns mounted in turrets with the design that enabled firing at aircraft.
Hms lightning world of warships is a natural evolution from the Jervis, sharing a similar turret and torpedo tube configuration as well as performance characteristics.
However, the lightning destroyer mounts its 4.7-inch (120 mm) guns in new enclosed turrets capable of high elevation angles, thus allowing them to serve as anti-aircraft guns as well.
These turrets also have the pleasant side effect of allowing them to clear the rear structure, thus allowing the forward turrets to also traverse fully.
This allows the lightning wows to easily maneuver while keeping its guns on target as it retreats.
The british tier 8 destroyer lightning has some outstanding strong points.
All gun turrets can traverse 360 degrees.
This lightning destroyer has Superb concealment with 8 km torpedoes, allowing stealth torpedo attacks. Like other wows british destroyers hms lightning has superb acceleration and maneuverability plus access to the Hydroacoustic Search consumable.
High number of smoke charges with short cooldown.
Short duration smoke discourages sitting in smoke and firing.
No Engine Boost consumable makes escape nearly impossible if caught in a bad position.
High shell arcs make long range hits against anything smaller than a battleship challenging.
Short ship detection range for the Hydroacoustic Search consumable.
    Poor AA firepower.
8km torpedoes may not be adequate in Tier X matches.

HMS Lightning was an L-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She was launched on 22 April 1940 and sunk on 12 March 1943 by German Motor Torpedo Boat S-55.
Ordered under the 1937 Programme and laid down as Job No J4502, Hawthorn Leslie & Co of Newcastle Upon Tyne were awarded the contract to build her with machinery supplied by Parsons.
She would be the 10th Royal Navy ship to bear the name Lightning. Build was completed on 28 May 1941 but had been delayed by late delivery of the three twin 4.7-inch mountings required
meeting the original design. The tender cost was £440,807 which excluded items such as weapons and communications equipment supplied by the Admiralty.
On 25 March 1942, Lightning was adopted by the Borough of Doncaster as part of a Warship Week National Savings plan. Doncaster and the surrounding boroughs raised over £800,000
in National Savings and effectively paid for the ship. At the same time T/S Lightning was formed in Doncaster for Sea Cadets, that continues to this day.

Hello again everyone, Sorry it took me longer than expected to get this lightning video ready but I wanted to use footage recorded since the latest patch 0.7.11. Hms Lightning truly is a fantastic destroyer. I hope you all enjoy the video and let me know in the comments what you think of the tier 8 british destroyer.

Thanks Mowen, when playing solo queue I always try to use chat to encourage good play/teamwork although I must admit it can be very difficult keeping it under control at times. I even got a chat ban for complimenting an enemy team recently😉

    Brilliant video pal.
Just wondering can you list the following used in this gameplay footage ??
    Flags\Signals
    Camouflage
    Upgrades
    Captin Skills
Trying to unlock this RN DD fast - love it :D!

Thank you very much L Singh and of course.
In the main video I used only the Zulu Hotel and Wyvern signal flags because I wanted extra XP and credits.
The red skull and cross bones flag is purely commerative and provides no bonuses of any kind.
The camoflage I used is called the Union Jack camoflage which I got quite a few of during the recent royal navy event.
The Ship Upgrades and captain skills are all covered in the video starting at 3minutes 55seconds

I would rather have Demolition Expert and only Concealment for a four point skill. I just got this ship and have to get her mods up.

    • @CarbineCarlito
      @CarbineCarlito  Před 5 lety

Hi thebes1, I understand it's a time consuming exercise to full train a captain for any ship and the choice of said skills is a personal choice about how you like to play. I can only offer some advice about the benefits and downsides of your preference. The Lightning already has a great base fire chance of 9% enhanced with flags to 10%, DE will only increase this by 20% and is still very much RNG based whereas Radio Location will always tell you the location of the nearest enemy. This information for a destroyer at all times is just way more powerful in my humble opinion.

    • @thebes56
      @thebes56 Před 5 lety

@@CarbineCarlito To each their own. I rarely use Radio location. Only on a couple of cruisers. I would prefer up to 12% fire chance. Also to use the four point on lower skills.

@@CarbineCarlito I apologise for the cheekiness of that but I'm on the Asian server and once you know the correct pronunciation it's actually a lot easier on the tongue than trying to say it phonetically from the spelling.
