Hey everyone and welcome to my how to play hms cossack video, latest edition in a series how to play british destroyers. This video contains all my own personal wows cossack gameplay and commentary. This wows cossack review contains the captain skills, upgrades and reason for picking this wows cossack build so you can fully understand this hms cossack tutorial.
Tier VIII Premium Cossack is a comfortable blend of firepower and concealment. Captains will notice many similarities between Cossack and Tier VII Premium Commonwealth destroyer Haida. Her performance is very similar and she shares many of the same strength and weaknesses as her sister ship. The most obvious difference between the two ships if the number of main battery rifles, with Cossack bringing an extra pair of them to the fight.

The guns on Cossack are plentiful and provide the ship with excellent firepower, although captains will note the firing angles on the rear turrets are quite poor; Cossack must expose a lot of her profile in order to bring all four turrets into a fight. However, when she does manage to get all her guns firing, she boasts an impressive damage rate with her HE shells (complimented by a base fire chance of 8%). This presents Cossack with almost unrivaled gun power for her tier, capable of quickly dispatching of destroyers that get caught out by her good concealment.
Cossack also gains access to a hydroacoustic search however, she trades most of its offensive usability for defensive flexibility. Despite being very short-ranged (only 3.0 km), it provides plenty of forewarning about hostile torpedoes. The long duration of this consumable helps to ensure Cossack captains are almost never caught out by hostile torpedoes, able to keep themselves safe during prolonged confrontations. However, the Hydroacoustic Search falls short on spotting range when compared to that of other destroyers at her tier, such as German Z-23 or Pan-Asian Loyang.
Another of Cossack’s key strengths is her excellent concealment. Her low base detection range allows her to deal with enemy destroyers while providing her with the flexibility to control an engagement, choosing when and where to open fire. Her concealment provides her with a buffer zone against other destroyers, allowing Cossack to evade ships which outgun her, while outgunning ships which out-spot her. Her smoke screen benefits her when used to enable such a play style, allowing her to break detection and disengage if required.
Things are not all smooth sailing for Cossack though, and she has a few glaring weaknesses. Her foremost issue is her torpedoes, which although good are lacking in quantity, as she mounts only a single quadruple-tube launcher. On top of this, the restrictive gun angles of her main battery can also limit the true effectiveness of her guns during close quarter duels. This, when combined with her relatively small health pool can make close quarter duels a somewhat risky business. Lastly, her anti-aircraft defenses are inadequate even for self-defense, so captains must fall back to their team for defense against enemy air attacks.
Captains of Cossack will find the most success using her concealment to sneak upon unsuspecting destroyers and from here pushing into a knife fight to secure the kill. T his will allow her to ensure her guns land as many hits as possible, using a mix of her single launch torpedoes and high DPM main battery. Careful and calculated usage of her Smoke Generator While active, generates a smoke screen that blocks line-of-sight for both enemies and teammates will allow captains to effectively fight or flee from any enemy ships will allow Cossack to best perform her role as a defensive scout, providing spotting for the team and probing around caps while remaining close to friendly ships to deter attacks from hostile destroyers.

Hey everyone, I finally managed to get my hands on the premium tier 8 british destroyer Hms Cossack. I've had a load of fun playing this ship and while being comparable to the hms Lightning it does have some subtle differences and due to its economic bonuses it's awesome for earning credits, xp and retraining your british dd captains. Sorry for the delay in getting this video up and I hope you all enjoy it. Let me know in the comments what you think.

great video man, really enjoying your content! I love my cossack as well, knife fighting with it is wonderful, land the first couple of volleys for 4-6k damage, then smoke up before the enemy DD gunboats can let their DPM do the talking. Really works the charm.

i got mine through arsenal shop. got rid of it doing my first match against all tier 10's. skill wise, was not ready for that kind of ass whooping at that tier level. i'm only at tier 5 with regular ships. might buy it again in the premium store though, i liked it.

Hi John, once you get from the Acasta at t5 up to the lightning at t8 you will realise it can be a real beast and absolutely love the cossack even when u get uptiered it can still hold its own quite well.

John Braman you did a very common mistake (I did the same when I was a novice). Tier 8 and above require a lot of experience in the game, especially because your opponent will be skilled for sure. So just be patient enjoy the low tier game and learn from there. Training your captain is also Paramount to achieve good result. When u feel ready, step up to next level. That said wish u merry Xmas!
PS never never sell premium ship!

Well done mate, I only need 5 more guineas to be able to get the Cossack and have been contemplating getting it or not but a ship capable of doing serious damage and the great detect ability and torp reload I think 5 USD for her isn’t too bad at all I might as well get her before you are unable to purchase her with Guinea on 1/22/19

Hi Scotsman, thanks man. I'm a big fan of the british dd line and the Cossack is a fine addition. Not only is it a great ship in itself capable of being very strong and competitive but it's ideal for retraining british dd captains so I feel very safe in recommending it.

Carbine Carlito I’ve actually got a commander that was for a DD I got from completing a collection of Dunkirk evacuation emblems so that right there is a 10 point commander I’ve been saving for the right ship I have a love hate relationship with British DDs from the lightening up haha such a different skill change coming from United States DDs

Nice, a 10 point captain is perfect to skill up too and including concealment expert and immediately puts you on a strong footing capable of dealing with higher tier destroyers. The USN line has some nice ships also but indeed differs significantly from the british dds but I view it from a point of view being able to adapt to different dd tactics and master them will make you an all round better dd captain in the long run.

Carbine Carlito I agree completely part of the fun is learning to adapt to the new play style and skill level of other countries ships. I also at the moment need a good credit earning ship I currently have zero premium ships and am a decent dd player so hopefully this helps abit along with premium. Those tier 9 and 10s sure are expensive

Hey again Scotsman, I found the the Cossack to be an excellent credit earner tbh so I can definitely recommend it on that front also. There are some very good premium ships in the game and I would include the Cossack in that select group.
I hope you enjoy it and do great in it. I'm always willing to see fellow dd captains do well o7

When I 1st got it, as a prize, I was....less than enthused, A load of crap was the term I recall using. Then WG tweaked a bit, now its a pretty darn good DD. If anyone is looking for a British DD, you could do A Lot Worse than the Cossack.
One man's opinion, freely given and worth ALMOST that much.

Lol Steven, if you arent used to dd's then it can be a tough experience but once you realise it's strenghts then it is a lot of fun and very very strong.
