The Death of the Indy Adventure Series…Signs That It’s All Over

- Today we take a look at all the signs pointing to the potential ending of the Hasbro Adventure Series line.
Do you agree that it’s run its course? Or do you expect more figures after wave 3? Let me know in the comments.
Much love, Chris the Geek Figure Fan. - Zábava
As a crystal skull fan I’m a little offended that we haven’t had any representation of any of those characters in the line yet. I’d love a mutt, and I’d like to get my hands on the crystal skull; a much more interesting mcguffin over the dial. But I don’t want the display to be to packed either.
I’m with you there - not having any Kingdom figures would be really disappointing
So, you're the "Crystal Skull" fan.
I heard at least one person liked it.
I love CS too. All FOUR movies, not five - just like a lot of people say there's only three movies. We could get Mac, Spalko, Mutt, Marion... and a crystal skeleton on the throne for a Build a Relic. We also need Willie in the dress from Club Obi Wan, Mola Ram, Detrich, Vogel, Marcus from LC, Sallah from LC, and army builders of "German Soldiers, Russian Soldiers, Thuggees" would be nice too.
@@dhenderson1810 Crystal Skull got good reviews when it came out and the internet just got a hate boner for it. If you ask people to give it a second chance or ask new fans what they think, they usually say people were too harsh on it and it's not as bad as people make it out to be
I think these are some of the best figures Hasbro has put out in a long time. But the series really needs Mola Ram. Imagine the details the figure could have, imagine the accessories (flaming heart, shrunken head goblet - which we already have - headdress). Heck, they could even do a two pack with Mola Ram _and_ the guy in the cage over the lava pit.
Yeah Mola Ram would really stand out in this line.
It’s insane the bland suited villains they out out when Mola Ram is just begging for a figure
I think Lucas didn’t want any thuggee cult merchandise (no mola ram, no maharaja, no cult members, and no chatter lal)
@@Bigthundrinmonutin Well, whoever made that decision is an idiot because those would have been some good figures.
@@QueLindoFilms They didn't even make the German mechanic which has absolutely no way of anyone telling he is... you know.... N A Z I
Even if the series is dead as a "Wave", there's no reason we can't get drip-fed an occasional goodie as a Hasbro Pulse Exclusive. As long as we got some ongoing figures a couple of times a year instead of the line being terminated, that'd be terrific.
Agreed. I think a lot of us Indy fans would rather the line continue with occasional Hasbro Pulse exclusives than just being dropped
I hope this line continues, it's been a sweet collection so far, but as you've stated there are glaring omissions. If we are honest Indy doesn't have mass appeal in toy stores. So if Hasbro expected these to sell enmass then the line is doomed. However if the focus is collectors (mainly adults) then these 'insensitive' characters shouldn't be an issue. If collectors want to fill these character gaps, then we need to let Hasbro know it. Maybe a crowd funded figure pack via Haslab is the answer (Diericht, German mechanic, Willie, Mola Ram, Giant Thuggee, Lao Che, Vogel, LC Sallah/Marcus, Young Indy).
I mean what is a hero without villains?
I think you’re totally right - the wider appeal just isn’t there. I LOVE the idea of a Haslab of figures to fill out the range though, brilliant suggestion
Hasbro originally announced they had plans for a certain number of figures. And after the last reveal, that brought that number up to that original number. It isn't the line is dead, it has run the course, that Hasbro intended it to go.
The original Pulsecon announcement said there was plans for over 25 figures. That is the only time there was ever mention of a number that I am aware of.
If they’re offended by an action figure then they’re not ready for the adult world
Wokeness has destroyed many sequels these last few years. I think in the near future they'll all be apart of a mostly despised subgenre. I just hope we'll see rightful sequels created.
@@RlsIII-uz1klOh get over yourself.
You see wokeness where none exist.
I see movies to escape politics, not look for it where it doesn't exist.
I think you are correct about the interest being gone now that the movie is out and hasn't gotten a lot of positive reviews. I was worried this line would die off fast but hopefully not. If it does I'm still thankful they made the figures they did because we didnt get anything else in 6 inch scale other than the Figma Indiana Jones figure. Shfiguarts has a really good Indiana Jones figure coming out but probably no other IJ figures. It's too little too late in my opinion. They should have brought this line out a decade or more ago. It's an old franchise now with few younger fans who care about it. Probably few younger people out there that have even seen any of the original movies much less all of them. I'm sure the only thing most younger people know about IJ is Crystale Skull and Dial of Destiny, neither of which were that great. They should have done another movie back in the 90s instead of waiting as long as they did. I also agree Hasbro is too worried about being pc with this line.
@@cesarmedina7080 I partially agree with you. The interst is there and is unbroken. My kids just love the original Indiana Jones but them being completely unaffected by recent ESG/DEI driven franchises, they naturally reject the more recent Lucasfilm and Disney products by even not knowing anything what lurks in the shadows, as I said, they are just crap movies without any good and capturing storytelling... and the kids immediately feel this. (my personal conclusion to that: there are no new fans which grow up under woke Disney, they give them a pass on their own)
A lot of fans want to be able to recreate scenes (or however you want to put it) with some of the iconic fights: WE WANT VILLAINS! I'm almost ready to get the Star Wars Imperial Officers Set and just say "Oh well". Other than the villains you mention (and the ones we know Disney wont green light) the only way I can think of to keep the Indy aspect line "fresh" is a Crystal Skull opening Indy, Young Indiana Jones, and then maybe go into diorama sets (I almost guarantee that each of the build-a-sets will be available as a diorama piece). They should also do just an accessory set with just a ton of different hands... but also not all the Indys are interchangeable... Who doesn't want a Club Obi-Wan Indy with the Hat on too?
This is why I've been hesitant to even dip into this line. I knew they weren't going to deep dive.
Remember the 3 3/4" Indy line back in 2008? They made EVERYONE and a ton of vehicles from every movie. There was even an alien Crystal Skelton mail away figure. It was awesome.
How sad that they refuse to represent every major character from all the movies in Adventure Series. We need some Crystal Skull figures
I agree, give us some KoCS figs
I've always loved Crystal Skull.
I'm still going all in on this line because I know this will probably be the last time we get Indy merch for a long time. I missed out on the 2008 line by being too old to play with toys as a kid and too young to collect them as an adult. But I remember people complaining about that line missing characters like Brody and Toht. Even then, there was a lot more variety with that line and less gaps than the current line
Some quality/design issues aside, I like the line so I'm ok with the figures I have. Its a total shame that many of the major bad guys will not be part of the collection.
I honestly don’t doubt that, when they started, they really did give this range love and care, design issues aside. But if we’re honest it was never going to go the distance
I’m still hoping for a Crystal Skull wave with some figures from Dial of Destiny
that’s what I’m hoping for. my range will always look incomplete without them
Ew
I remember being excited for these months ago and we are already waves into this line. I was able to get Indiana Jones from Wave 1 at a collectibles store by my house but have never seen him at any Target store. I was able to get Obi Wan Club Indiana Jones at Target on clearance.
The figure I've seen most peg warming Target stores is the female protagonist from the new movie.
I really do like this line, but let's be honest. It's a line that appeals mostly to the die hard Indiana Jones fan. Outside of that, it has alot of characters in suits that don't really appeal to the casual buyer.
I heavily agree with Mola Ram. He's one of my all time favorite villains of any movie and I would love to have him in this line. It would be terrible to this line not to get him in figure form.
Blows my mind they have not made a motorcycle and sidecar for wave 3…
it would be such a great posable extra! Indy and Henry would look amazing in it
I love this series and have most of the figures they’ve released so far. I haven’t had this much fun collecting a series of figures in a while, and I want it to continue, but the sad truth is, Indiana Jones is a seasonal property. Figures are only released when a new movie is out, and what little hype Dial of Destiny had has already swiftly ended. I really hope wave four and five happens. I still desperately need a Colonel Dietrich to finish my opening of the Ark display. A build an artifact of the Alien and throne would be perfect for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
completely agree with this, and this is exactly where my head is at too. I just don’t think the call has ever really been there for a range of this size. I think they overestimated the fan base and the call for these figures
I think a combination of a poor Indy 5 film and obscure character selections over mainstream characters for figures (Renaldo instead of Willie Scott for example) means the Adventure series is starting to flounder somewhat.
Answering your question, I would be very disappointed if the range finished now especially as they (in my opinion) missed out key characters like Willie Scott, Mola Ram, Dietrich and other versions of Marion and Sallah not to mention any character from a whole film!! (Indy 4)
thank you for commenting. I think I’m in a similar mindset….I’ll ultimately feel a bit cheated if the range ends now with such massive gaps in the line
Especially since this is one of the biggest merch we got for the Indiana Jones series in a long while, like we been in a drought 😂
Hoping they continue it, also hope LEGO does too. The Indiana Jones LEGO sets are S tier
No matter how much people might hate crystal skull (not me I love it) it would be terrible for them not to release an Indy Marion mutt and spalko figure at least. It needs some representation and a vehicle please. I was a kid in 2008 I had a bunch of vehicles and action figures from the Indy line
love that, hope you’ve still got those figs from 2008! I’ll be gutted if KoCS is completely absent from the range
At the initial announcement I believe they said the line would be 26 “plus” figures. I didn’t expect this line to go beyond the year.
and you’re probably right
That was my understanding as well. 25 or 26 figures and then see if the line will continue.
Not a collector myself but wow this video was so well done. Subscribed and excited to see more content from you
Helena's destiny is to be the greatest peg warmer of all time.
So hope that the line isn’t done man! I see all the signs are pointing towards that 😞 There are so many great characters that need figures.. So many bad guys, alternate outfits for characters other than Indy, vehicles, playsets, dioramas, so much good stuff!! Even more role play items and retro figures would be good. I’d be bummed if the line ended today!
tell me about it! I might be just acting way too pessimistic about the whole thing….a couple of months ago I was so positive about the future of the range. Hoping I’m way off-base and that new announcements will appear soon
I assumed from the start this line was going to die by the end with 2023. The Last Crusade figures are due out around Christmas, so I figured that's it. Disney knows Crystal Skull was unpopular. And with Dial's unpopularity I don't see Disney or Hasbro continuing this series. I am honestly surprised we didn't get a Cairo Swordsman. He's such an iconic image of that first film. I'd rather have that than Brody.
It's really a shame, we'll likely never get him
Cairo swordsman
Dietrich
Belloq (jungle)
Satipo
Mechanic
Lao che
Wu han
Willie (nightclub)
Mola ram
Vogel (tank)
Sallah (fez)
Elsa (venice)
Crystal skull figs? Only insignias would be the hammer and sickle on Irinas back and on Donchenkos hat.
I NEED crystal skull figures, but all the merchandise in 2023 is ignoring it!
The Indy line is pretty much in the same boat as the Power Rangers one. Actually, it's not just any boat, it's the one Indy fought Kazim on and we all know what happened to it.
Katanga , Marion in slip , Indy truck chase with bullet wound arm , Cairo Swordsmen , German Macanic , Monkey Man , Mola Rom for sure ... and Harry Ford from the Young Indy tv show with a beard .. these are my top 8 figures that need to be made before they cancel the line.. .. ..
love all those choices 🙂
I just hope we get a figure of that random pilot from the climax of 'Dial of Destiny' before the line ends. My collection won't be complete without him!
So this past weekend at SDCC, I attended the Star Wars panel in hopes of Indy news and..Nothing. I chased down Patrick at the booth and asked him point black if the line was going to rest after wave 3. He gave me a typical vague answer saying that “we just don’t have any new announcements for THIS event but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more announcements coming. As long as sales are there we’ll keep the line will continue” and that’s when I knew he had just told me in no certain terms that the line is indeed going to rest (at least in my mind)
I really hope this series keeps going, since we have never gotten quality Indiana Jones figures before really. I'm also hoping to getting a Mola Ram and other Thuggee figures as well as a Colonel Vogel figure.
The line never got off the ground, I have yet to see any Adventure Series figures in stores at retail… and I have looked extensively.
Hoping since they didn’t release any kotks figures that there is hope for a next wave at least having the villain, a version of Indy, his son, and maybe mola ram and one other figure to create a alien baf of the skeleton shrine
I’m with you….clutching on to any small glimmer of hope 🙂
this line was Temple of Doomed from the start, it was pretty much only made because there was a new movie, and as a franchise there really isn't a lot you can do with Indy at $25 that a lot of people will buy, even now the only figures that really sell well are the Indianas, everyone else is only picked up by big fans or completionist.
These figures are really well done and it makes me laugh at the black series team even more seeing how much these come with, but I never expected this line to survive the year.
I think the main reason they’ve honed in the Indy line this time around is how poorly the “08 line sold, they put their all into that line and most of it sold terribly. And the reason why they’ve completely avoided Kingdom is due to the negativity surrounding the film (which I feel isn’t as bad as people say it is), I would’ve loved to have seen Hasbro make more figures for the fans, not taking the line too seriously or formulaic, leave out the pegwarmers and include characters that we’ve never gotten, we don’t need 100 Indy variants just one from each movie is fine.
Also I wish they’d done more deluxe figures like motorbikes, horses, camels and even a fridge from kingdom.
But at this point in the line, the most I can see more from this line is a few exclusive when dial hits digital. The exclusives I’d like to see would be a Willie Scott, Mola Ram, German Mechanic, Young Indy- just like one last hurrah as the line sunk with a disappointing and poorly received final movie
You could be right, to me, this line is mostly intended for old people who grew up with the originals.
Since they shat their pants and cried when skull came out, merchandise in 2023 ignores #4, which is really lame and annoying.
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull isn't a bad film at all. The same people that hated that, are the same ones who hated the prequels and sending death threats to the actors because they thought they would look cool on Reddit in 2007.
This is the same situation with LEGO. Arguably besides Star Wars one of the most popular licensed themes especially in the aftermarket and one my my favorite lines and then LEGO brings it back for only 4 sets. Would’ve been nice but then right before the reveal they cancel the temple of doom set with no explanation so now it’s only 3 sets with no mention of a continuation. Very sad the adventure series seems to be going the same way, the movie not making money doesn’t make it better but as a huge fan of Indiana Jones it really sucks
we all know the reason why temple was cancelled. did you know it was already in production?
These are fantastic figures with great sculpts & paint. So many must haves for the future I still want!
I enjoyed your video, and I think you have a very pleasant voice. l too am disappointed we're not getting more figures, but I am happy that we got some really good ones when we did.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
GFF, Hi there, my closest SW/Indy toy collector pal in L.A. went to Comic Con 2023 and did chat with one of the head Hasbro guys, Patrick,. who is always in the Hasbro toy reveals videos. Apparently, Patrick was very friendly, welcoming and loved talking Indy with my pal. However, he was diplomatic in answering either 'yes' or 'no' to whether there would be any more in the Indiana Jones toyline. But Patrick did ask my friend what future Indy figures he would like to see. A small sign of hope? If it had been me, I would have answered - Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny RETRO, including an Ox figure from Skull (regular 3 3/4" would be wonderful too). Plus, more Doom retro - Willie and Mola Ram. More Crusade (Fedora) and Crystal Skull 6" (Indy, Spalko, Skull alien), plus Archimedes from DOD. A DOD Battlepack of 3 3/4" figures with Roman soldiers, Indy, Archimedes and his companion. Plus, the unreleased final wave of Indy MIGHTY MUGGS from 2008, including Indy in his Doom tux, Young Indy from Crusade and Raiders Sapito. Those would be my choices and hopes. What would yours be? Thanks for the video. A.
If they make Kazim I don‘t see the reason why we can‘t get any villains from temple of doom.
I truly hope that Toth will not be the only german character. They don‘t need their symbols but not having the villain characters seems like missing a big part.
Hasbro is going to let us down again. Haslab could have gotten us a vintage flying wing and they could get clever like a German soldier 5-pack (2 soldiers, the Mechanic, a bike soldier and Dietrich) or a TOD villain 5-pack, etc. Obvious solutions, but once again an Indy line drops the ball.
Over and most people didn’t even know it began… shame. Thanks for this video!
Thank you for taking the time to comment!
For what it’s worth, every figure I have from this line is pretty good-it’s good to see Mezco is adding more to their Indiana Jones collection but I’m not looking to spend at that price point. There ARE some great characters Hasbro could do that aren’t a German or a Thugee-Willie Scott, Sallah (Last Crusade), Katanga, Brody (Last Crusade), etc
I don’t disagree - I definitely don’t hate what I’ve got so far. That Mezco figure did make me think though, whether (considering this range may never capture all major characters) I’d have preferred to just buy fewer but more expensive figures that are of a higher quality instead of more figs at a 25.00 price point
Them not announcing further product during SDCC and most stores clearancing would lead me to believe whatever has been announced will be all we get.
I feel like all the figures are done with the bare minimum effort. The articulation should be more like black series, not like a old 3.75 toy.
And the lack of villains is very disappointing. Mola Ram could be a great figure with all those details. Even the shirtless German Mechanic would make a decent villain figure. It’s very much like the Ghostbuster line where we never even got a Slimer.
Edit: Also we never got a Haslab for Indiana Jones. Even Ghostbusters got the Protron Pack. Regardless how you feel about Has Lab, it’s telling they haven’t done one.
The Last Crusade Tank would be perfect for a crowdfund. And it would be a great way to give us some German figures, since it won’t be sold at retail.
I’d love the German tank as a haslab!
Well, you can only do so many figures off a movie series that’s mainly about the main character with a sidekick every now and then
The fact that we’ll never get German Trooper army builders is pretty much what is killing this line.
Interesting points but I hope the line isn't over. IJ is my favorite character and I'm enjoying collecting them. Definitely need more villans and some Willie Scott figs
really pleased that you’re enjoying collecting them…I too hope that it’s not all over, but I’m less confident than I was 3 months ago
I agree, too many Indys. The temple "insensitivity" is BS. Mola Ram- The actor who played him, Amrish Puri, was a well known Indian actor. He was known to play villains. I think its insulting to him.
The fact that we got a figure of friggin’ Kazim before we got Willie or Vogel or anyone from KotCS… that said it all, didn’t it?
Nice channel dude. Good luck with it 😊
Bring on all the figures. I’m not seeing many stay on the shelves. They just come too quickly one after the other which puts them in a position to be clearanced out to make room for the next wave (at Target).
Pretty sad when a toy company is afraid of being canceled over accuracy.
Now they can't even make a General Lee with a Rebal flag without someone bi***ing about it 😠
I ordered all of them! It's not dead to me! I love this series!
Love that! Yeah I’ve enjoyed collecting it so much
Its the 3.75 inch figures from years back all over again.
Would love to get a few 2-packs. How about a Capt. Katanga and Messenger Pirate? Then a Dietrich and Gobler. What about a German Mechanics 2 pack? Hyper-sensitivity is even killing toy lines now. Just sad.
The windowless boxes is not helping
On these figures and on all action figures
Marvel legends has suffered the most some of the new packaging is awful
They were up front that there would only be 25 or so figures. They delivered. I'd love for it to come back, and I am missing a few I'd like, but they did prep us.
One figure I managed to get was a talking Indy. Says various quotes from different movies. Like "Snakes, why did they have to be snakes?"😅
nice!
1. Not to many people collect 6" figures and theprice is high.
2. They aimed for the kids with the kids toyline. Indie was more for more adult audience and older collectors.
3. They missed the oportunity by releasing the 3.75' figures like Star Wars.
4. Same Issue they ran into in 1983 not enough Variety of characters.
5. Retro Collection is not for eaveryone.
6.The Dial of destiny did horribly on the box office. People lost interest on the franchise.
7. Store exclusivity hinders the ability to collect the figures. People hate to hunt for stores and buy a specific figure.
8. not enough Vehicles and playsets
9. they decided to release the lego versions of the playsets and vehicles. Legos are expensive.
And that is all i can think of in a short time. i am pretty sure there is a lot more reasons.
MolaRam, Willie Scott and the Henchman from TOD are what I want. What's left are Crystal Skull figures. The latter might flounder!
I've still got my fingers crossed for a Mola Ram & Willie Scott 2 pack
I'm okay if it doesn't go forward. All I want is for them to cover all my favorite variants of Indy before the series runs its course. If the Adventure Series puts out an Indy with gloves and Arabian Horse, I'll be happy if the series goes away.
The hype for Dial of Destiny gave us the rare chance at more Indy merchandise. Disney Store put out a cool 10-inch Indy figure, and Hasbro did that awesome 12-inch figure with the Whip action. And Hasbro is giving us some nice 6-inch figures!
This is more Indy across multiple scales than we ever got before.
No bad guys?
It was dead in the water before it began.
I never imagined the line would continue more than 1 year tops anyway so im happy with literally anything we got up to this point.
It sucks we didn't get Mola Ram, Vogal, or Willie, but it's important to have some perspective. This was always going to be a limited line for the new movie, and it's a thousand times better than the toy line we got with Crystal Skull.
nah the crystal skull line was awesome. vehicles and troop builders!!!
@@lizardking2767 I agree. The 2008 line was far superior to the Adventure series. What makes Indiana Jones toyetic is the environments and the vehicles/playsets. Doing it at 1/18 scale works best for that world building. Leave the 1/12 scale to Mezco for the higher end collector. Bring the price point down by doing 1/18.
They kind of painted themselves into a corner with refusing to do certain "bad guys". The whole current state of being easily offended by anything has gone too far. They really could have worked around some of this by excluding certain "forbidden" symbols. It really is a shame because this could have been a great Indy toy line.
Need to have those so Indy can beat them and win the day. Having an enemy you love to hate is what helps build Indy up
Firstly I am grateful that we got these figures at all, its not every character choice I would have made but its not far off. Willie, Mola Ram, Cairo Swordsman, Vogel, Lao Che and we are not far off - a fourth wave under a villains bracket could round the series off nicely.
Second I agree that we need a horse, sidecar, truck, map room play set, but your £60 price point is way off, I think for anything but the Horse they would be starting nearer £100, and a £100 jeep may be a tough sell.
I would also not correlate the popularity of DoD (Which I personally enjoyed a lot) with the future of the line. My only metrics would be sales of the line, cost of producing the line.
Have people bought them all, which characters sold most, which ones didnt sell at all? Hasbro has made two key molds the 3 piece suit - Toht, Belloq, Brody, Henry Sr, Prof Indy, Club Indy, Kazim, Vogel, Donovan 9/25 and the standard Indy outfit which they have used to make variations of what 6 Indys? (not including prof/obi wan/Map room Indy) so 2 molds have been used as the basis for 15/25 figures with Marion, Short Round, ceremonial Belloq, Sallah, Map Room Indy, Elsa, Knight, Renaldo and Helena being the other 9 each with a somewhat unique mold. Those final 9 are the most expensive to produce, and I'd also say some of them are the least likely to sell. If Helena and Elsa fly off shelves and sell out then Willie Scott becomes more likely. If Salah sells well then robed figures like Cairo Swordsman and the prunes asassin come into play. Mola Ram with all his unique details is probably equal with the grail knight as quite a unique figure. So if i was in the hasbro offices those are the sales figures i'd be looking for before I greenlit the others.
I cannot imagine any demand for KotCS figures (and hasbro will have sales data from 2008 to inform that)
The one major bad sign I would look also at is that i cant think of another indy variation we are missing (outside of Indy in german disguise which I find unlikely) - however likely or unlikely a new wave is i'd be amazed if they did a new wave without indy himself. I guess we haven't had Scout/Young Indy, but what I really mean is Ford Indy - so maybe a specially tooled Indy to go on a horse as the 'two pack'
It worried me when none of the Indiana Jones we spaced out more. Now we basically have every Indy outfit. So how would they do another wave with at least 2 re-released Indy? Too many Indy's to fast not enough other characters. Anyway great video and thoughts. Subscribed.
thanks for the sub and comment! it’s massively appreciated. Agreed, poor choices have helped to let this range down
Thank you! And appreciate the comment too - you’re not wrong. Where do Hasbro go with further Indy’s? A KoCS Indy is pretty much all thats left now….
Indy is a tough line to sell as the focus is on Indy and they have delivered the majority of him from across the movies suggesting they wanted as many to sell while they had a chance. I wonder if the team was shut down on many figures leaving them deflated to even want to do this line. 1 Indy per series to anchor the line would have given me better confidence to thing this was going to continue. Fans definitely want more! Make them exclusive pre-orders if that’s what it takes to get this done! The kid ( Teddy) from the new movie should have been made before Renaldo. A mine cart loaded with the 3 characters would have been gold!
I've only been collecting the retro figure waves. I love 'em. If they stopped now, I would be pleased with the ten figures. But because there are missing characters, it does feel like an incomplete collection. It's like a film that ends on a cliffhanger, but never gets a sequel. It's such a shame that the retro line looks to have stopped. But historically (Pun intended), Indiana Jones toys don't seem to endure like other toy lines have.
I don’t think that the lack of pipeline reveals is THE reason to be concerned, everything revealed so far seems to be whats been planned from the start and now they need to re-assess based on sales as the waves actually hit shelves before ultimately deciding if its worth it to keep going
That being said because of how much dial flopped I am still pessimistic about not only this line but the support of the whole franchise
I wish I could say that it would be foolish for them not to do anything else with indiana jones but that’s exactly what the case was before this year
it’s tough to predict isn’t it? agree that really there isn’t one main reason - but my feeling is that there are enough smaller reasons to add up to the ending of the whole thing…
I just recently got really big into the Indy movies and I already have 9 figures with hopes of getting more. I hope we at least get a Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull wave along with Willie Scott and then I guess I would be happy with the line potentially ending.
That’s great news! Really glad you’ve enjoyed the films, they are the best 🙂 sounds like you’re building quite the collection too!
@@GeekFigureFan I truly have been! I just got 3 figures today and I’m one figure away from building the Ark and the Skull Idol. Fantastic video btw, just finished
thank you for that, really appreciate it!
Indiana Jones figures that need to be added:
Mola Ram
Chief Guard
Lao Che
Willie Scott
Maharajah
Thuggee Henchmen
Cairo Swordsman
Giant Sherpa
Nazi Mechanic
Captain Katanga
Colonel Dietrich
Fedora (the guy who gave Indy his hat)
Panama Hat
Grail Knight
Mutt Williams
Irina Spalko
Colonel Dovchenko
Russian Soldiers
Colonel Weber
Klaber
Hawke
Renaldo
17:38 tbh they’ve done the essentials for ghostbusters, only thing I’d like to see is a wave of ghosts (slimer, muncher, library ghost, Vigo, zombie taxi driver)
Still haven't found a Map Room Indy in the States and I had to cancel my Target Club Obi-Wan figure since it's been 7 months and they won't send me out one from my preorder.
I see them online from other Targets around the USA with Club Obi-Wan on the shelf and many at discount. So I'm getting one off of eBay for a little cheaper than retail.
Target dropped the ball for sure on this.
We really need to get Mola Ram, Willie, and Vogel in the pipeline.
Hopefully they'll get us some Crystal Skull figs (Indy, Spalko, Mutt, Oxley and Dovchenko).
I find this odd because these figures are DAMN HARD to find!! They are sold out EVERYWHERE
wish someone would make 6 inch pirates of the caribbean action figures
Just trying to stay very optimistic about the future of this line but I''m hoping they haven't announced anything yet is so they can look back at what the line has achieved during year 1 (sales, buzz ect..) to see if the line is worth for Hasbro to continue on.
If they don't do the Thugee or Germans the line will always be incomplete. Unfortunately, I have a feeling current-year Disney isn't going to be giving the fans what they want anytime soon.
Hasbro has a curious distribution model of distributing figures months after the movie rush has cooled. Same with TF.
I think the reason we havent gotten any tanks, trucks, etc, is down to two reasons manily, one they would be expensive and take up too much retail space. Plus i think some like the truck and tank would just be too big, unless they did a crowd fund thing, which i think would fail sadly. and the second thing is that this is the same team behind the black series line, they have said the bigger sets don't sell well, like the tie-fighter, dewback, luke and speeder, rey and speeder, etc, these all peg warmed for months, it's only now they go for a lot on the secondary market. so wont want to take the risk, for a line that seems very easy to get and not flying off the shelves. I think the first indy and short round are the only two sell out stright away
I look forward to finding them at my local Ollie's (wholesale discount store in the US). There was a whole wall of Marvel Legends in which I got 3 Hand Ninja's for 10 bucks each.
At this point, I'm just happy I have the original Indy fig from Raiders (infuriating whip holder included) and have really lost interest in getting any others. The fact they didn't make any figs for Indy to fight is ridiculous -- at least give us the Pat Roach baddies (bald German mechanic, Chief Thuggee)! I would also love a figure of Marian based on her look in Nepal.
Maybe we can send pics of the various characters we want to the Hasbro selfie series. Maybe I'll send in a pic of Katenga and see what I get back? I can at least use the head sculpt...
Really hoping for at least another wave or 2. I'd even be interested in a Mutt!! Very sad to see this go so quick if they are winding it down indeed.
I’ve been collecting figures for what feels like all my life. With Indy there are really only the first three films.
Crusade , figure wise, the most challenging.
Now I’ve collected the Indy’s currently on the market but have no interest in the majority of others.
That I think is what is reflected sale wise and I certainly won’t pick up ‘Fleebag’..the movie ruiner!!
But I’m certainly hoping to collect most, if not all, of wave 3. The Grail Knight, Connery etc..
Actually I think I better pick up Walter Donovan..
Sorry for going on so long but I do think, like Star Wars, this line will continue.
You should see the base I’ve designed for the map room Indy..great figure.
Thanks 🤗👵🇦🇺🇺🇸
As to the movie
Out of all the figures I wanted was colonel Vogel in his black suit but after watching this I have no faith that it’ll be made
Makes sense… a line that is selling really well so let’s kill it!
I want the Swordsman, Willie, Mola Ram, the big German Mechanic, and Mutt. I’ll be happy after that.
They you're dying unhappy.
To say the movie didn't do well is an understatement. Although to be fair they sold a lot of tickets, but just spent too much for it to ever turn a profit. But Target and Walmart don't have much patience for toys from failed movies. They are clearancing out their Indiana Jones and The Flash toys. The 6" line strangled itself by having far too many Indiana Jones variants. Often with minor differences. Yes I get the hardcore collectors want representation of every scene. But a little more variety per wave would be nice.
First indy figures i ever bought. Love them. Bought all of the Raiders, Temple released so far. Only gonna buy the indys from Crusade
Aren’t we getting a bit sensitive? Mola Ram would be an awesome figure. Like the LJN line from the 80’s.
I'm fine with it ending now as I've gotten my favourite figures concluding with Sean Connery's Henry Jones Sr.
I think they were piggybacking off of the upcoming movie release and tasked the Black Series team with pumping out a couple waves of Indy figures. I dont think we will get any other releases which is a huge shame. We really havent built out the films at all. Too many indys with no one to fight
I was thinking they may make a few more when it gets closer to the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Maybe finally make a Willie Scott if anything and also some new ones from the game itself. It looks like they are not wanting to do anything for KotCS sadly but either way I'm not disappointed with what we got.
I decided I was only going to grab the Raiders figs as it’s my favorite of the series. But when everything outside of the initial five were just variants of those five plus Brody I decided to just grab the first five with the Build the Ark pieces and call it a day.
The Adventure Series is pegwarming heavily in my area (Sydney, Australia). They’re not selling. Some stores had mid year clearance sales and this series was on clearance…they still didn’t move. It’s adios for this line I think.
Next year is the fortieth anniversary of Temple of Doom. Some hope perhaps for further figures.
Shhhh it’s “on pause” just like Power Rangers. Honestly, this was a short term line. They pulled staff off black series for it and with the revels you could tell it was a line to appease Disney/Lucasfilm.
Donovan is the main villain of Last Crusade, how is he considered "Secondary"?
Yeah he definitely could be considered the main villain - I think in my head I always saw the Nazis as the main threat in Last Crusade
Yeah, I thought they'd make a motorcycle with sidecar packed with Indy and Henry Sr.
They did a big motorcycle/Harley for WWII Marvel Legends Captain America.
The Indy motorcyle/sidecar with 2 figs would've sold great.
I tbink the issue with indiana jones 5 was they waited way to long to make a 5th film
I really don't see this line continuing beyond wave 3. I think they were leaving it open in case Dial of Destiny was a huge hit, then they might have been able to keep it going. But Dial was a box office disappointment, and every previous line of Indy action figures has flopped at retail even back in the 80s when the movies had much wider appeal and cultural caché. That Hasbro didn't reveal anything new at SDCC all but confirms that the line is over.
I interviewed Hasbro about the line and they are very excited about it. We always knew this line was finite...unfortunately. It's not Star Wars with many properties and characters, so will die out. But it's going to carry on for now. I asked about the German characters and even though they couldn't say anything concrete, they kinda gave me the idea that they will be done.
