Dude... I can't believe your channel isn't bigger. You're style is dope. I'm not even really into heavy machinery, but I sat there and watched every episode of you working on that dozer. Your channel is entertaining, fun to watch, and weirdly, I always learn something. Keep it bro!
For a quick service like a compressor replacement or an evaporator swap, its probably okay to only vac for an hour or so. When the system is open for a long time (engine swap, whatever), a lot more moisture gets into the dryer and the compressor oil. It takes a long time to boil the water out of the compressor oil. If you put an accurate vacuum gauge on the system and evacuate it for a long time, then tap on the compressor with a wrench you will actually see the gauge move as more gas (evaporated water) is released from the oil. I think tapping on it disturbs the surface tension of the oil and allows any trapped water to flash off. Cool stuff (If your a nerd). Also, dont get any beer in the system.
Let's say you build a custom system with a Beretta condenser, truck compressor and universal evaporator unit.. How do you determine the amount of refrigerant needed? Atmospheric pressure charts?
I would start at 24oz and watch pressures and charge accordingly. Cars are fairly forgiving being that the compressor rpm varies so greatly and so does condenser heat release rate

Doesn't seem like there's much you can't fix. Jack of all trades
Today I learned I need to vac my systems longer lol
