Excellent informative and true to detail honest review from a seasoned Goldwing owner. It made me go out and buy me one today. Two thumbs up !!

Good job guys. i too am a long time goldwing thrasher of scenic highways. Your questions and answers were real world good, and something I really appreciate and wae surprised about was.the experienced gentleman tthat was answering the questions Did Not screw it up by comparing each item with the honda.. And in doing so he treated the iquiring consumer a look at how to do a review. It was so very refreshing. I knew you were not glad handing the BMW or the goldwing for that matter. I am in the market, and have my eyes on a 2012 GTL. I really enjoyed getting the honest truth from a well thought out program, intelligent answers to the right questions. Even the tempo of the thing flowed at a smart speed. Bravo Zulu.

Very late finding this but I just bought one in 2020. Traded in a sports bike to get one. Loving mine - thanks for sharing your thoughts - also interesting to see the changes on this model compared to the newer one.

I bought a new 2012, and will say that compared to my whale GoldWings, this was a cruising shark.
But, with the new 2018 Wing, both are equally great!

I've got a 2007 BMW K1200LT AND and 07 HD Ultra classic. Thinking of selling them both for the 2012 1600GTL. I like its cruisability and its abilty to "carve canyons"..

Hi buddy. You should look at the updated version of the GTL. I think 2014 upwards. Huge improvements to the bike, including reverse, more wind protection, etc, etc.

Seems more comparable to an FJR or Concours than to a Goldwing. Its kind of sport touring, I loved my Concours but it leaves your legs bent back a bit too much like on this bike. It becomes uncomfortable on longer trips. It has lots of nice electronics but those are expensive when they start breaking down. I got a Wing now. Very happy over-all. I would like to see a six speed transmission on it and longer ranger.

People who haven't experienced the lower leg positioning on the Goldwing don't realize the comfort they are missing.

The BMW r1200rt is comparable to the FJR / Concours / ST1300 level market. The 1600 is clearly chasing the luxury Goldwing level market.

I'm getting rid of my 1500 due to the buzz of the 6... it absolutely needs a 6th gear ;(

Rehashing a dated video review as this model is either a 2011 or 2012 older. ..

Hey, good eye! However, this isn't rehashing - this road test aired on
TSN up here in Canada in 2012 and has only recently been shared on our CZcams
      channel.

...nope...not for me.....to much electronic for two wheels. Lose all the pleasure to run a bike.

You want to re discover the pure pleasure of 'running' a bike, tdo a spirited test ride one of these in the canyons, for example, and you'll find revision on your take of those 'electronics' . You'll find personal pleasure And lord forbid, personal growth...that reguardless of age, never stops, so far that it is allowed .

You could judt leave it in dynamic rain or shine and have one of The Very Best engines ever to turn a whe on a motorcycle. You dont "lose" anything except what you imagine with your mind comfortablly at rest inyour tunnel vision. And because of it you will miss out on so many mind blowing experiences. This is what the collective experiences in your life has tauvht you?
To throw in the towell, youre through growing as a human being . Just shake yourself real hard, maybe you'll get lucky.
Hell, you could end up learning something. and end up punting your loud v twin and discover what kind of pleasure you can get on a modern, high horsepower bike. It's a mich better feeling than it is residing there in your self induced comfort zone iof motorcycle. pureism.
