  • Thanks to bamboo training for suggesting to try the COC NO.2, this gripper is a lot harder than it looks. Sometimes i can close it and other times I am just short, I think it has to do with my technique for where i position the gripper in my hand. Hope you guys enjoy ! Jedd Johnson could point you in the right direction buddy. You have a very strong grip but there are many tweaks you can do, placement and set wise. You are strong enough to close it already - it's a set and positioning issue.
    Jedd is the best around at this stuff and he's helped me close a 2.5. He's a multiple Grip sport champ and his reputation is gold.
    With a grip that strong and the right training you'd be smashing a 2.5 in a couple of months.

    If there is a 5 mm gap left for a No 2 CoC, you're missing about 8 kg of force.
    Approx formula is: (70 - mm left)/70 * 89 kg
    if you assume theta ~tan theta (small angle approximation) and linearity of spring force relatively to the angle of deformation

    • @Carbondioxidinashvilli
      @Carbondioxidinashvilli Před 3 lety

      This gripper's torsion spring gets a bit harder at the close even though the graph looks linear, its not exactly linear(maybe because its rubbing against each other harder at end range). Plus its not 70. Its around 72-74. Another mistake is this analogy of your about missing force is theoretical and incorrect practically. There are people who can close a #4 but average person can maybe move it by 7-8 mm. That doesn't mean that the person closing coc #4 is 10 times stronger considering the coc #4 is 75-76 mm in spread

    • @firnameweren5311
      @firnameweren5311 Před 4 lety +4

      Have been about to close it now? I think we both know it has nothing to do with small fingers because if you can close any CoC gripper under a 2.0 fully then that logic falls apart since the grippers are the same distance apart and size except for the spring at the top... 😄 Hope you got it closed now. Not giving you a hard time because I’m still 2-3 mm away from closing the #2 right now and I have been using these grippers for the last 3 months and when I started I couldn’t close the 1.0 so it just takes time and effort to work up the ladder. I have small hands but now can close the 1.0 and 1.5 so I know it has nothing to do with hand size in regards to the ability to fully close those grippers but I’m sure bigger hands help with leverage to an extent but it doesn’t mean small hands are incapable of closing the gripper if the strength is there. 😉

    I just got the CoC number two yesterday and closed it 2x on the first day. I didn’t set the gripper with my off hand and didn’t use chalk either - I just “winged it.” It’s my first CoC gripper. I’m not trained on grip strength, don’t lift weights, and have a desk job. My hand is definitely fatigued today from those closes because I’m really not used to the exercises, but I do think I could work up to a number three given how relatively easy it was to close the number two without training. I’m guessing my grip strength is just above average naturally even though I don’t think anyone would guess it by the looks of me (not huge, no visible veins popping out everywhere, etc.). I want to see if I can go up to a number three and get certified. I can’t say it was a lifelong dream of mine, but it would be cool to have something unique to brag about 😁

      @Grip Mania India below average grip strength i would say. Starting off i had enough strength to deep set a trainer. Now i can deep set a 2 and tns a 1.5. What got me that strong was a mixture of heavy volume with lots of sets say 5 sets of anywhere from 1-6 reps with perhaps an amrap afterwards with say the .5. As well as high rep work to condition the tendons and ligaments as well as just give the heavy work a break. Say sets of 10-20 with the trainer slow eccentric. I Also train grippers 4-6x per week and supplement with an alive multivitamin and creatine. the vitamin is good for tendon recovery and the creatine for overall strength. I look forward to continueing progress with the same method, it took me 5 months to get this far and i expect a long road for the 2.5. It seems to take 3x as long to reach the next gripper so since it took me 3 months to close the 2 after the 1.5 i expect it to take another 6-9 months for the 2.5. I also used handbands and finger push ups to build stability

    Dude, I find it hard to believe that someone untrained can close a number 2 first go, these new ones must be rated
    umbered differently. I got mine in around about 2002ish I think it was, took me years to progress from 1 to 2, even 1 is hard to close when you're starting

    • @kasparov937

      There are some very strong people out there you would be surprised that coulf close it without ever having touched a gripper.

    • @giammira
      @giammira Před 5 lety

      How can you tell that?!
      COC 2 is a good achievement but not so hard for strong people with trained hands.
      Hands can be trained for crushing in many other ways, not just by using grippers.
      There are farmers, iron workers, roadworkers, powerlifters, gymnasts, carpenters, builders, plumbers, climbers, heavy furniture deliverers, woodmen, fishermen, wrestlers, mechanics etc. They all have trained hands, often to extreme levels. If you select the strongest 10% of any of them, challenge and show them how to set the gripper, they'll close the CoC 2 right away at least with their stronger hand.
      The most I ever reached was closing the CoC 2.5 on 3 occasions and CoC 2 for 6 reps, both with the right hand, and closing CoC 2 for 1 rep many times with the left.
      It took me like 2 years of light or odd training to get there.
      I then quit training 5 years ago and just kept squeezing the grippers very rarely, like once a month, and now I no longer close CoC 2,5, just number 2 for 2 reps and 1,5 for 5 reps with the left.
      When I started I had little trained hands but slitghly above average strenght and had done some climbing and manual labour years before.
      On the first try I could only close CoC 1 twice right hand and with the left the Trainer 5 reps and I was millmtrs off to close the number 1. COC 2 was out of reach. But again, my hands were untrained and are not so big to have any good leverage on a big gripper like that

    • @giammira
      @giammira Před 5 lety

      This video lured me back to the grippers... . A better lifestyle must have helped me regain some strenght despite not training: I just got 3 good reps on CoC 2 and I am back to 1 mm off from closing CoC 2,5 right hand and CoC 2 left hand.
      Hand strenght, unlike other muscles, does not fade away fast...
