Moto Guzzi always had a certain charm that the Japanese bikes couldn't match.. Bella Moto Guzzi

pure class. Had one in the late 80s and ate up the lonely miles of the gascoyne pilbarra and kimberly regions of western australia. miss it.

I wonder where your Cali is now Paul? Still in WA somewhere? I had a 850 LeMans III back in the mid 80s and a friend had a California, which I had a ride on one day on O'Brien Road near Gidgegannup. Wow, what a sweet ride it was ... handling was sweet (the bike felt light), the seat & footboards were super comfy, and the windscreen was superb. These bikes are future-proof in many ways. The SP1000 was a great model too. As you say, these models are something we really miss.

@@paulcannell7188 By the way, is there a modern day fix for the problems with the splined clutch hub?

A nice one, hats of keeping it in that condition👍Mine has been used summer and winter and not run for more than 10 years now.I am ashamed I stored my Calli2 in the garage corner like that. Many times thinking of selling my big girl but I can,t.To many good memories. She really needs some love and care from me.

mine went through a clutch cable every three months ,and the throttle cables didnt last long either ,clutch collapsed one day but I made it home ,another annoying thing was the timing chain stretched ,if i'd kept it I would have replaced it with gears ,plastic crap throttle /controls ,should have been metal ,gear change rod broke ,used a metal curtain rail for a while for it ,very torguey and fun to ride

Nice one, my Dad got a white one and owns it since 1984. Have you ever faced to put chrome of those big cylinder heads and fuel tank cover plate? It would increase the looking a lot! Have fun with it!

I have a white one too! What I’m trying understand is, how do you make those cylinder head cover plates look chromed? Because mines aren’t and I don’t think it’s a matter of polishing or cleaning them. I guess it’s an option that could be chosen back in the day for it? Because if that’s the case then the only way to have the chromed is by finding a specific spare part in a chromed variant.

@@Vylkeer hey ya! It was not optional. You or your mechanic have to dismantle all metal parts you want to have in chrome polish look. Than you have to bring it to a galvanic work/company/plant (you name it) for the required service btw to chrome it for you. Is not that expensive. Good value for money. After getting back…put it on and have some fun! Cheers mate

@@trainkreator848 Thanks for the info! Could the process you’re referring to be “vapor blasting” or something similar? I’ve discovered it recently and I know it’s used to de-rust all components including engine parts but I’m not sure it will get metal to look chromed. Can you make the chromed loom to both the cylinder heads and the main engine block beneath them? Cheers :)

I had a 1983 until some moron creamed it in a parking lot. Said he didn't see it. Wish I had another. I was almost done restoring it, too.
