My mom died in ‘90 from a brain tumor (cancer). She loved the Stones and couldn’t leave the house without her tapes. I found this out only a few years ago. Funny thing is I’m the same exact way. I wish I could be here and tell her she only had 9 years to live. Maybe she could’ve gone to see them live. Love the Stones. Their music’s helped me get through the roughest times in my life and will continue until the day I die. Love you guys!
I’m sorry for your loss, and I hope she’s resting easy. The stones have this magic over many of us, it brings people together who may have never known each other or even bring families closer. I know it did for mine. I’m sure your mom is very proud of you.
I know that feeling. Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead got me through some rough years when My mum and 2 Brothers passed as Well. Music is powerful. God Bless Ya. Hope your OK. 🙏
This is the absolute BEST version of Under my Thumb I've ever seen the Stones play! I feel so lucky to have even heard of the Rolling Stones at my age of 27!! 😁
if you go and watch the e one from altamont, which.....is gotta be a total one off arrangement, as I dont believe they were touring at that moment and Ive never personally heard them do the song anywhere close to how they did it that night.. Its probably one of the first handfull of shows they'd done with Mick Taylor in the group (who, its not even worth arguing really how great that era was for the stones, sound-0wise.. almost every record- if not EVERY recorde they put out with Mick was legendary...his contribution to the band, imo brought about their greatest creative potiential as a group... not to take away tho from their era with brian where they made a name for themselves iun the first place i guess, and ..well, whatever.. the mick taylor era sounded frickin rad to me... lol) ...so the altamont show was probably 1-3 months after Brian Jones death and their first show with Mick in Hyde Park like.. the following day.. which was a bit dark... but then the band played and all the darkness whipped itself into a sort of translucent form, never quite fully taking shape but always kind of undulating in time with the music ...a hypnotic, invisible dancer accompanied the band live for the finsl months of the 1960's.. ...But, do please check out the arrangement of Under My Thumb from the Altamont show before landing on this as the best version. Its really loosey goosey, theres a lot of heavy acid goinjg around through the crowd, theres a lot of... A LOT of tensions in the air .. increasing anxieties and a very on-point awareness by the band of some kind of impending trouble.... there was about to be a killing take place less than 50 feet from the stage while the band played.. and as they were not entirely able to sus what had occured until after the fact, they continued playing that niight after the dude got killed and finished their planned set... but in the Under My Thumb footage, you se it strarting out with a tense fucking scene... mick is trying to talk the hells angles ( their hired security for the event) whod been lining the stage all night sitting or leaning on their bikes, getting more and more fucked up as the show went on, as the sun went down and as the stones finally took the stage... audience members - unsuspecting hippy weirdos had been subjected to whole batches of dreaded "bad acid" circulating through the crowd that day and night.. motherfuckers had been falling out left and right on some heavy, life-altering freak-out shit .. so that alone was enough to crank up the tension and paranoia factor among the crowd.. but add to that the fact that the hells angles had been running the security for the show mostly by bashing pool cues over motherfuckers brains for hours and hours while getting more fucked up, more pissed off, paranoid, and violent as the show wore on... it didnt sem byu the time the stones lit into Under My Thumb that it would have taken much at all to get that kind of attention paid to you as an audience member in close proximety to the stage, or any member of the security team... mick looks kike hes stressed the fuck out... but damnit if it doesnt all add up to produce the coolest presentation of under my thumb that I have ever heard.. come back and let us know hoiw you like it, ya?
This version is good, but as @JayManJerimyfresh said it's not as good as the Altamont performance. The sinister groove plus the chaos and tension going on add up to a badass performance. As I read in a CZcams comment of that performance: "It was the sound of the 60s dying"

Imagine back in the days doing an aerial shot like that with no drones around. Lol. They were fucking great and so was their production. But I keep thinking to myself that they were made to play at nightclubs, not footbal stadiums. Just like all the blues artists that they admire.
I can't help but admire how cool Keith looked in his outfit, white shirt and black tie, black waistcoat, black jacket (leather?), tight blue jeans and brown boots. Add in the trademark haystack haircut and you get the ultimate rock and roll look.

It is what I always thought, there is an abyss of people there, it is a tide of people, and they are seen small, five guys who just go on stage when the curtain open, and vibrate the entire stadium, at that moment there were no giant screenk, advanced audio systems or so much technology, it is true that the scenery was a novelty designed by Kazuhide Yamazaki...but it was simply the Rolling Stones in front of a 75K assistance. Majestic.
