I listened to this song when it was first released in 1967 or 68.danced with my girlfriend at a sockhop in Columbus Ohio same year. The dj played this song over and over. Couldn't get enough. Fantastic then and fantastic now, 2023! Yea, I'm old now but oh what I life!!!
When I was a teen, I heard Mick entertained like a rooster on acid. Love his high energy. I met him in Tampa Airport eating with the band. He looked like he just woke up He said, Where are we? We told him Tampa Airport. He said, Oh? So laid back.
Saw them on that tour three times - in San Francisco, '81 and Newcastle, UK, and Leeds, UK, in '82, the final show (and about 250,000 attending!). All excellent. Have now seen them about 25 times!
Yeah I agree Christopher, I have the Blu Ray of this ( Charlie is my Darling is about the only one I don't have) all I need now is an 80" OLED TV, good Amp, send the wife shopping and turn it up to eleven, I've also got " Let's Spend.......together" on Blu Ray (Japanese Import)there's something bout 81/82 I love it twice Wembley and then Slane Castle, I wonder what 2022 has in store for us, Stones binging every day, keep rocking Don ( Ireland )
It took me until I was 54 years old to really get into the Rolling Stones. I knew their music my whole life. However, I hadn't really enjoyed everything that is wondrous about the Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger is as sexy at 80; he was his whole life. He really does all the moves...
The best rock band that still is rocking and Mick is the best frontman of any band sad that Brian and Charlie are gone but the Stones have a catalogue of music of 60yrs that is timeless the beat the groove and the cool are their sound are there legacy
This is absolutely fantastic A very good version of one of the best songs ever written by the best band on this planet I hope they come back to Europe soon I will be there for sure To all the people out there: You must see them live if you can It will change your life
This is one of the best sounding live renditions I've found of this song from the this time period. Perfect sound mix, an interweaving of the guitars. I love these gems that have popped up on the net!
La primera canción favorita que tuve de los Rollings, fue ésta. La escuchaba de péndex, con los vinilos de mi progenitor querido. La adoro y esta versión en vivo también es re wena 🤩
I saw them in Phoenix that tattoo you tour about a week before this. Such good memories. Then over 25 years later bridges over Babylon tour in Honolulu. Love to see them again
As a spin to my comment below, it really is a trip that they are still touring now in 2024, AND that just 3 yrs ago 4 of the 5 original members from 1962 were still alive. A lot of bands toured in 81/82, like VH, Ozzie, Journey, The Who's 82' "Farewell Tour" etc, and out of all the Stones touring in late 81' seemed like a nostalgic tour for concert goers my parents age(both 80 now like Mick & Keith). Yea if 43 yrs ago seemed nostalgic, what can you say about touring in 2024. I know it's not the same but still, pretty amazing those dudes!
i was 16 years old and had just seen them for the first time, 17 days earlier, in detroit. the simulcast was gonna be broadcast on some flash-in-the-pan cable outfit called 'On Tv.' i nearly lost my f'ing mind trying to arrange a VCR and access to this kickass show from hampton roads, virginia...you'd have thought my life depended on capturing this show on videotape. fast forward 41 years later and i can pull this up on my phone and rock it on a bose bluetooth just about anywhere...it's just sorta weird, that's all.
Rob, I feel the same way, spent all my life (and a fortune in 💰😀) following them and on my collection, sometimes staying up all night for one song to tape on VHS or later on Hi Fi DVD ( the last time being bout 5/6 years ago for the Keith Weekend TV Special over 3 nights. It's a passion there's really no cure for, and you are right it's all or most of it on utube now😀👍
La mejor etapa musicalmente hablando, con Mick Taylor. Quizás está es la mejor época con los conciertos masivos en estadios, la gran gira americana del 81.
KMET and KLOS are So CA rock stations. KMET has been gone for 30 yrs or more. In 81' I was 13 and my 14 yr old buddy and I were playing pool in his garage when his uncles said hey we have a Winnebago and 2 extra tix for the Stones at the LA Col. (And we turned it down), for the stupid reasons of being more into Rush, and at the time all they played on the radio was start me up, and the yr b4 all they played was she's so cold and emotional rescue, so at our ages those songs and the ruby tuesday oldies were all we really knew of the stones.
Good point and I totally agree (Keep on Rolling 79) Sam Cutler was good too on the '69 tour but this No Filter from 2013 up to the present is a little underwhelming to say the least, you need that "boom" in your voice and Bill Graham certainly had that👍
@@donhanlon7121 yea Cutler was good as well, and coined the term worlds greatest rock n roll band, but I believe these days for the tours opening intro is matt Clifford
I 've seen individual song videos of this concert!!! Also think it was first time he sang "Going to a go go"!!!! Looks like a good concert!!! Like the suit, think the color might be magenta because pink isn't that dark! It might be a purple/pink mix!!
@@donhanlon7121 Yes..he so is..Quick story .did you know that when James Brown was headlining a show and did "Please..Please"..Mick was scheduled to go onstage next..and he refused to do so..he was that intimidated by Brown's performance. Because at the end of James' song..they made it look like he needed help getting off stage and an assistant came out to wrap him in a cape..appearing to comfort him as he led Brown from the stage..It was so good and over the top that Mick knew that he couldn't follow that or top James' dramatic performance!
Yes I know Margarite wasn't that the Tami Show In America in 64?, Mick has admitted he learned an awful lot from James Brown, seen the Stones 30+ times, but biggest regret is missing them in London '73 with Mick Taylor in the band. Looking forward to this February release of 2012 Prudential Theatre show ( Blu ray of course) wish they had added the Eric (Clapton Champagne + Reefer's) and Jeff Beck🙏 (Going Down) from the London shows as extras but as they say " You can't always get what you want"🎵🎶💎🎸🥁🎺🕺🕺🔥🌟

This group never gets old watching them. I could listen to them all day for the rest of my life. Keep rocking boys.

Actually released 1966. Off of Aftermath. One of their best works. The US version. The UK version I don't have but I can always download that. Lol
What a beautiful story!
1966! Can you even name the album?
Aftermath
This is one of my favorite songs I enjoyed listening to. They know how to play well together and keep the audience happy during their performance.
Merci les stones

I caught the show in New Orleans '81. George Thorogood opened.
To all the fans of the Rolling Stones let’s celebrate Charlie Watts by rocking to this brilliant live track. Charlie smiling at the back…. The Stones
Oh yeah!
Amen brother!

OK, that’s what I’m doing bless Charlie! ❤
Haha, people thought the Stones were old in ‘81. Here they are, still rolling 41 years later.
Now 43 years!!!
They should have quit when Charlie Watts died - and I love 💕 the band.
Sad and pathetic and certainly not funny.Enjoy your stones 80s coloection.

Hits don't come bigger and better than The Stones Under My Thumb...all my hairs use to stand up, when I first heard it in the 60's...still do in 2021
Bill Wyman bass line is awesome
It sure is; keeping that fabulous back beat rhythm going!! 😅

Great song, great cover by rolling stones!!..
This is pure Jagger-Richards, not a cover at all!
Mick Taylor incredible , great song
It is Ronnie Wood not Mick Taylor - Keith's guitar playing is particularly good.

Killer licks and riffs, Holy crap. Blows every version I've ever heard. Right around the release of Tattoo You.

Love this version..just think how many teenagers back in the day played this over and over on their phonographs and 45rpm.
Back in 81 I thought they looked old but good, now they look young and I'm old.

The Stones firing on all cylinders. Great guitar interplay between Keith and Woodie. Bill and Charlie driving the rhythm section.
The Stones locomotion getting up a head of steam still dangerous but this gig is one of their best ….going to a go go is another gem .
"Firing on all cylinders"....perfectly stated.
You Bet They are ON!! 🔥 😅 🎉
gotta love Mick's hand on his hip little nancy boy dancing
