I so enjoy Michael's photographs and explanations how the end product came to be.
Thanks :)
What a gorgeous picture - Michael you are so talented. I love the fact that you can, and do, 'paint' in the feeling that you had on the day you experienced this place. People often say that their photographs do not do their experience, or the scene, justice, as they felt at the time. This work you do, post snapping, is so vital to the viewer's understanding and appreciation. Thank you for showing us.
Amazing photos! So glad you created this channel.
Thanks so much!
Love the photo. Great historical story. Thank you for your explanation as to how you achieved the final look of the photo ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
I so agree with Stephanie about the effects of the post-production making a photo more true to life. A camera lens cannot capture an image the same way an eye and what we see isn't just what physically hits the retina, but so much is down to how our brains process the information from it.
And a camera is also limited to purely visual input, while you "see" so much with your smell and other senses too!
I’m blown away by the contrast of colors in this very old building and the capture of Stephanie is stunning.
Michael you have a very good eye for detail and love your explanation of how you improved the photography. You are a true artisan.
Thank you both for sharing this piece of art.
I love the balcony shot too. What an interest history. I imagine there were other parts of the building that are as beautiful too. The arches amazing. ❤❤❤
I love this vlog, a total new concept of photography explained simply professional yet exact. Still a bit over my 76 year old head, but So very interesting.I do remember the vlog all those years ago, really! was it so long ago. Wow. The outfit that Stephanie wore on that day couldn’t be better, saying it wasn’t planned, it stood out among the colours of the ruin. Then the history you have found since the shot is fantastic. Thank you so very much, I love it as I’m not into F1. WCL
Beautiful photo! It was so interesting how you shot and edited the photo. This is another art form that I didn’t know existed! It’s far more than snapping a picture. Great job Michael! 📸
Thank you, Michael, for sharing your wonderful photos which are a testimony of your tremendous talent & skill! Looking forward to seeing, admiring & learning about each of your future photos.
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for explaining how you create this piece of art through photography. It was very enlightening. I had no idea, so much work went into it. I did appreciate the details you went into, explaining how you came about the final results. Thank you, Michael and Stephanie for sharing your experiences. It came to life. I remember that video when you and Michael went to Rhodes It was fun watching you Stephanie , explore the ruin gasping at its beauty and potential 😊 Michael I will appreciate your art even more now thank you.🌈🇨🇦
Wow amazing building! Just incredible photos. Love that you both collaborate with travels.
Thanks so much!
Beautiful Photography Michael!
Thank you!
Amazing building, this is what I picture when I think of the quote "architecture is like frozen music." Thank you for sharing your photographs, so delicious.
Thank you very much!
Love the richness in detail and blur of action! Beautiful photo! Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you Katy!!
I remember the vlog when you were exploring and Michael took the fabulous photos of Steph. The building was so unique and beautiful in its decaying state. One can only imagine how it would have looked during its heyday. (If only walls could talk!). Many do not know but there was a worldwide tuberculosis outbreak in the 30s, 40, 50s and even into the 1960s in the US, when massive hospitals were built. I love hearing about how the art is created and stylized. Great job Michael and Stephanie!
Stephanie has a classic aura! You got a very good model in the photo! 👍👍❤❤❤❤
I love your photos, Michael. You referred to this place as abandoned, but someone is taking care of the grounds. In a couple of the exterior shots, there is a neatly trimmed hedge, and there is an absence of overgrown vegetation and piles of debris that you normally find in abandoned properties.
Michael you are so talented and your photos are beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Very faszinating !
I'm glad you liked it!
Love the photo,absolutely beautiful
Thank you so much!
Love Michael’s photography. Very interesting.
Thank you!!
Wow Michael, all the pictures of that place you took, but the one of Stephanie on the stairs is award winning!!! I had no idea the post production work that you could do on a photograph! That, in and of itself is a whole other talent!! Absolutely breathtaking!!
Looking forward to seeing more!!
Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
Thank you so much! I think the goal of editing is to try and make sure it is not noticed :)
Very beautiful photography!! This was fantastic!
Thank you very much!
Amazing photo!!
Thank you!
Thank for such an interesting blog
Thanks Irene! I'm so glad you like it!
The photo is a piece of great Art. I never forgot it since I saw it for in the Chateau diaries some time back.
Thank you!
Hello Michael, thanks for the explanation of the photograph, I love it. In many ways you are using the same processes that I use to paint a picture and your method has opened up a different way of thinking about images.
Awesome, thank you!
More power to your wonderful photographs , Michael! ❤❤ them so much!!
Thank you so much!
Love the stories behind these wonderful evocative photographs. My husband is a great fan of F1 and I look for you in the background.
Haha, I hope you are also enjoying the racing :)
Very beautiful! Love the colors and the textures with beauty…thanks for posting!
Thank you so much!
You are welcome! I love Nature, and thought of the bluebells by the Chateau . They were breathtaking and wondering if you captured that in the same way?
Such a wonderful photograph - ever so much more wonderful that Stephanie is wearing that striking red and white striped dress!
It was the perfect dress for the photograph!
Such a beautiful photo! Wow
Thank you!
Such an amazing photo. Looks like a painting. A real work of art!
Thank you so much 😀
Michael as I Follow you on F1, I’m Certainly Going To Be With You On This Channel 👌👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💕🍀
Thank you so much Josephine!
Anyone can take a photo, but you Michael create art! This photo gives such an intriguing invitation to create a story, or imagine oneself exploring this amazing building. Stephanie's beauty against the decaying backdrop makes it even more interesting This impromptu visit paid off with a piece of art!
Michaell, this is a stunning photo.
Thank you so much!
Fantastic!
Glad you like it!
I wonder what it would look like if you could capture that picture, freeze her there, then capture her at the bottom in the arch of the doorway, freeze her there and again in the the other doorway freezing her there, facing away, all in the same photo, perhaps with a tiny blur in between to show the transition but not blocking the beautiful space. I love that her dress works so well in that building.
When I look at this, it feels a hopeful image to me. Stephanie is so bright and vibrant surrounded by the decay of the past and yet she steps confidently into an imagined or unknown future. She's like a spirit from a separate reality bringing life and renewal and hope into the dark and mysterious places. I could just look at it all day and tell myself hundreds of stories. That is the true magic of art.
Gorgeous merge of technicality and artistic intent! Really enjoyed your "beyond the lens" discussion.
Thank you so much!
❤ wonderful!
Thank you! 😊
Thanks for sharing. It's a fun image. Cheers-
Love this Michael. Love to see where you where, how it inspired you, and what the photograph is about. Beautiful! Hugs from NY
Thank you Donna!
Great photograph. Insightful explanation. I I look forward to following this vlog.
Thank you very much!
Its amazing how having a person anchors the photos, the photos are not of Stephanie but it highlights the building.
INCREDIBLE, I wish my father was still on this earth to see this art of photography. He would have been in awe! Thank you for sharing! Stunning!
You can always tell a true artist, because the lens turns out to be an extension of the heart,. Exquisite.
Fabulous!!
Thank you!
Hiya Michael, truly enjoyed a wee peak visit. Looking forward to watching upcoming visits. Thankyou Blessings Southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
Thank you so much! Looking forward to visiting Ontario!
Oh do you have an upcoming visit to Ontario planned? 🇨🇦🐝@@MichaelPotts-Photography
The mottled paint makes it very painterly ❤
Yeah, I love that about this building!
I do enjoy how you explain your photos Michael. You transport us to the time and place. You’re very skilled and it’s a treat to hear you explain it. Love your lion photo too! I’m hoping to own some soon!!!⚜️
Thank you so much! I am so glad you like them!!
Your photography really is a step into artistry and I both adore and admire this somewhat moody photograph with Stephanie being the only modern portrait in it. 🥰😃
I knew that was you, Stephanie, even before I watched this video. Only artists' eye would see the beauty in a crumbling old structure.
Stunning! What a magical building built for woodsman !?! How perfect to b used as a Sanatorium. Wonderful photography Michael

Michael is surely gifted. Most enjoyable. Thanks for letting us in.
Michael you are a true artist.Stunning photography of the different areas. Magical!
You are a fabulous photographer, no doubt about it. You would think that Stephanie’s dress was a deliberate choice as opposed to what she was simply wearing that day. The striking wide red stripes stand out like a painting. Just a fabulous creation.
If only we had planned it - the great thing about Steph is that she is often photo shoot ready :)
Stephanie all the friends in your life are intelligent, cultured, interesting and fun, and we all learn so much about life from them, that is my very favourite photograph ever and how amazing that Michael shares his knowledge of years of experience for us all ! Not that I understood a word of how to apply to a camera any of that information ! Behind the veil was interesting ! My god he is even much cleverer than we all knew so no surprises there at all ! Congratulations Michael and Stephanie x
So interesting to see behind the scenes. A beautiful photo made still more beautiful. Looking forward to next week!
This was wonderful. I adore abandon buildings. They are magical.
Your framed photo looks just like a painting. Beautiful!
BEAUTIFUL! You did a wonderful job on this photograph!! Steph is right. The beauty comes from what the artist does to enhance the photo and make it a statement! 🤩
Thank you so much!
This was a beautiful photo.
You captured the feeling of the building as well as Stephanie’s personality.
Kudos to you.
Thank you :)
the most amazing thing I find in this photo is how Stephanie was all dressed for the occasion, its like the whole photoshoot was planned
That is the great thing about Steph from a photographers point of view - she is ALWAYS ready for the photo shoot :)
i remember this photo in an earlier Chateau Diaries volg. it was stunning then and atill is now.Micheal you know and understand your craft. Brilliant
Thank you! That was a long time ago in the Chateau Diaries videos.
Just subscribed. My first time here. Looks very interesting
Thank you so much!!
Although Michael does a lot of 'techy ' things to enhance the photographs, his original ultimate visions are superb...and he makes it look so easy as if he has just 'snapped ' the picture. Wow! I have never progressed beyond a Box Brownie!
I am a painter, I have taught for many years. Tthere is something quite strange about photographs, many students will try to paint from a photograph (discouraged by me!) but my advice is, only work from photos you have taken because in some mysterious way that original real vison stays in your memory and comes out in the painting. Bt usually it is better to either paint or photograph, except to make quick studies and sketches that you can work from later. Congratulatons, Michael for a beautiful study of the building and our beloved Stephanie!
This is such a gorgeous moment in time, and the story around it is almost incredible. I feel that it's one of those serendipitous moments where you Michael & Steph were at the rigth place at the right time. Your talent is enviable. I am also a photographer, not professionally. It's such a gift that iPhones can take the kind of photos they can. The rest is still up to the person holding it anc capturing the moment. I don't edit the way you do. Simply don't have the talent, time or tools!
Awesome, Micheal and Stephanie. ❤
Thanks :)
Thank you so much for including your camera settings as well as your Lightroom and Topaz adjustment info as I use both applications (although I shoot with a sony) and you showed me more uses. The photo is so ethereal - I love it. What an eye you have and how wonderful to have found this magical location. Delighted to be one of your early subscribers.
Michael all of your work is stunning. Thank you for this very interesting video.
Glad you enjoyed it
True artistry, Michael!
Thank you!
So amazing Michael!! I love it.
What has happened to the property since then? Still abandoned?
I think so - I'm not sure.
Those pictures are just beautiful!!!
What a fascinating story regarding the building and the village!
I am so glad you found it interesting
Capturing the beauty of that setting through artistic photography is a fascinating process and the result is exquisite, Michael! Thank you for sharing!❤
That is so kind - thank you!
How interesting that this place was used to treat TB patients. Beautiful photo. ❤
Thank you!
I found this to be so interesting. The camera is your paintbrush. ABSOLUTELY beautiful work.
Glad you enjoyed it! I did study painting for 5 years, so maybe that is coming through in how I use light and in post production.
@@MichaelPotts-Photography I imagine the training comes in to play quite often in your photography. You have a gift for sure
Thank you so much for explaining the post production process.
My pleasure!
It may be decayed a bit more with all the wild fires. I love Rhodes, it’s so diverse. Well done Michael, perfect as usual💕
👏 👏 👏
Thanks :)
I love these break down!
Michael, I love this photograph. It is otherworldly.
Stephanie you are beautiful as always, but I want the blue and white shirt you wore in this episode! Grin!
What an exciting day you had. I bet your creative juices were flowing like crazy.

What a beautiful backdrop for your photography.❤

Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful. Thank you Michael!
Thank you so much!
Love you both, plus Philip behind the camera
Thank you!
I love Michael's photo analysis. (Even the F1), so this is definately a must watch! The photographers eye for light and detail and the "big picture". A bonus Stephanie too.... Whats not to love?!
this is a real treat. Thank you Michael.
Thank you!
Stunning photos
This is such a magical creation.😊
Michael, the picture you took shows a haunting, sad but beautiful aspect of the building and Stephanie completes the scene. What an eye you have thru the lens. Looking forward to seeing more. 8:24
Aaahhhh love it! Love you guy!! Can’t wait to check out more of Micheal’s work!!
Thank you!!!
I don't know anything about photography, but thoroughly enjoyed the detailed explanation, almost making it seem as though anyone can do it.😀Truly, I loved it. It wasn't until you mentioned symmetry, that I realized Stephanie is centered in the archway.
Love this discussion of your photograph Michael!
Thank you!
