Garlic Fried Rice (with secret ingredient!) - Japanese Recipe

- My garlic fried rice a secret ingredient to it that I thinks makes all the difference! This dish is a simple side dish that's perfect for pairing with simple proteins like grilled meats. In Thailand, many people like to have garlic fried rice as a side dish for hot pot which I love. Garlic chips add a nice crunchy touch, but in a rush you can skip it and this will be a meal that comes together in minutes!

Oh! You gain weight Ms. Pailin!
Are you married? And if not, are you in a relationship currently?
Love your free spirited Prrrr. LOL
What are your thoughts on MSG?
What i like about you, your CZcams videos, because you are so persistent on explaining why you do or why you don't do it every video you posted. You are so good at teaching!🙏
"the smell of garlic and butter in a place with no ventilation." lmao. my heaven.
Ya….I loved that too 😊
Interesting!! Garlic is life 👨🏻🍳😁 thanks Pai!
You're perfect to watch 4 o'clock in the morning... the talking, the detail, my coffee, almost a pleasant way to start the day.
IKR I'm a witching hour (3am) guy as well. Everything is quite, the world is asleep it seems, watching my dogs sleep, having my coffee, and watching these awesome video's, undisturbed before the world awakens. Great comment as it fits me perfect. Cheers Chuck!
I love all your little funnies you make throughout the video. Shows the viewers you are 100% yourself.
Wow it looks fabulous. I love when Pai makes simple mistakes, that we all do and doesn't edit them out.Just real life cooking. He response is so cute! Going to the Asian store today with our Thai friend and grab these ingredients. Thank you Pai!!
I have eaten fried rice in both Japan and Thailand and liked both types and I started eating rice after going to Thailand decades ago when the government sent me there. Before that I was against rice since my mother didn't know much about how to cook it and turned me off to it. The garlic fried rice you made does look nice and must be so delicious too.
Mind BLOWN!!!!! I had NO idea that you can use butter AND soy sauce together. This was awesome! Thank you, Pailin! You are wonderful.
Made it yesterday : turned out reaaaaaaally good!! 🙀
The dashi does bring a delicious saltiness to the combination.
And the best part? It was still delicious when cold! The garlicky flavor of it was even enhanced... Thank you!!! ❤️
Looks delicious ka.
Been a big fan of you and the way you explain everything for quite some time now... Today I ordered your cookbook. Can't wait for it to arrive! Long overdue that I add Thai kitchen to my mainly European cooking skills! Please keep on with your great work!
I love all her recipe's.... Its easy and she is so genuine with the expressions and the techniques...
Thank you Mam...will try this as for lunch... :)
Very good Rice making
I love your recipe and walkthrough, Pai! Thank you so much for sharing - it’s surprisingly simple and delicious!
I love watching pailin's cooking video but today i just realized that she's super cute during the awkward-waiting-for-the-egg part 😂
Hey Pai, have you ever come across corned beef fried rice? It's the kind of thing you'd find more commonly in Filipino households, but it is crazy delicious. It's practically dark magic, how one can turn an unassuming rectangular/trapezoidal tin can of a finely-shredded brick of corned beef into a fried rice dish that is savory, meaty, aromatic, cozy, and simultaneously filling and addicting. And then they have their 'adobo' fried rice.....
This looks delish!!!! I’m Definitely trying this dish. Great seeing you! Thank you
You are a superb teacher. Clear, precise and distinct with your instructions. Its a pleasure to watch your video :)
This looks so good! A love r of garlic here, so I know I am going to enjoy this dish - also love the fact that so little ingredients are needed to make something so tasty.
Thanks for showing how to make garlic chips
I dunno why but adding pepper before the rice taste a lot nicer than adding it after. It’s what I do to make garlicky peppery Filipino garlic fried rice 😋
Same with frying a sunny side up actually. Adding the pepper and salt whilst the egg’s still partially cooked tastes a lot better than when you add it in the end 👀
I can tell from the ingredients alone I will love it....Thanks again Pai !!!!
I love your humor and all your cooking is simple with a class and it's really look delish!
I own your cook book however I love watching you make the recipes. I share your videos with my kids and co workers!!!
I made this for dinner tonight and it was so delicious! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
The smell of garlic and butter in a place with no ventilation - is where I fill my Scuba Diving pressure-bottles
That's so awsome!!!
currently making black garlic in my bedroom.
Just came across your channel and I LOVE IT!!!!! You're funny and engaging, unlike many other self-important chefs...thank you!!!
Missed you Pailin! I always look forward to your videos. You keep me alive during college :)
Looks delicious... And it is sheer pleasure watching you cook and explain with your Yankee accent.. You are one of a kind dear!
This will easily be my favourite fried rice recipe! I tried to make this dish with a bit of tweak by substituting anchovy dashida for hondashi powder and the result was super. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
an alternative to the hondashi is a good stock cube of whatever flavor your prefer also dissolved in water
Pai's kitchen, once again thank you for sharing your authentic recipes. your signature greeting is missed.
I just found you and I think you’re absolutely awesome!!!! I love your personality, your jokes and recipes. I learned so much from your explanations!

Looks so good. It reminds me of the Filipino style garlic rice.
I too love fried rice. Usually, make mine with brown rice, carrots, onion, egg, soy sauce (Bragg's), & EVOO *Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I have Organic garlic on hand, free range eggs, brown rice, celery, carrots, & the Sea Weed Sprinkles! I just purchased them last week on a Whim! IPlus, those garlic chips, look Amazing! You are a Good Teacher! Thank You!
Ive had an unopened jar of the dashi powder for months and now I can use it for this! Had a hard time finding an easy recipe to use it for! Thanks!
Thanks! Simple side dish. Always in need of those...👍
I like your enthusiasm so much. I cannot cook almost anything well and live in Mexico in a place where half of your ingredients are not available, but I enjoy watching your show very much, hahah.
Very easy on the eyes, rice looks great too! Thanks for sharing!
Looks so easy and delish! Now I have another use for that little jar of Dashi I bought last year and is in the back of my fridge!

Thank you for yet another great dish recipe and such a fun video to watch! I have a feeling it will be as popular in our home as the garlic noodles. Am sure it will be worth the effort even making the garlic chips from scratch. Can't wait to try it!

That looks amazing!
Now I know what I’m making for dinner!! Thanks Pai! 😋

Too simple but Extremely Delicious!! Omg 21.30 at Thailand ... so starving
wow super cool and big like👍👍👍thanks for your sharing with us👌😄😄!
Thank you for this recipe ❤️. Definitely adding this to my midnight hunger pangs, supper snack attack repertoire 😍
I am actually drooling! Garlic fried rice was one of my favourite things on my trip to Japan. Will try this recipe :)
This is something I cook at home all the time I always have leftover rice sitting cold in my fridge. It goes well with simple garlic chicken or asian soy styled steak.
Rice fries better cooled off too. Gets kinda mushy if you try frying it right after it's done cooking.
leafsoup you can simply spread the rice on the tray, freeze it for 30 mins. In case you have no leftover rice
best wat its using long grain, so its fluffy not mushy.
That instant dashi powder is so good. I ended up using it in heaps of things, a bit like using chicken stock powder but even better.
It looks delicious.
Made this and added parsley leaves and green onion. So good! I subbed a veg bouillon cube for the hondashi since it isn't available where I live.
Beautiful Dish
I just tried it, it's absolutely delicious on it's own ❤️😋❤️…
Excellent...just the (original) recipe I was looking for..
Chef Pai You are the best👍👍
This is so delicious! Thank you, Pailin :)

This looks so Yummy!
Delicious pai! Love your vids!
thanks i have for longest time wanted to know how to make garlic sauce its my favorite sauce for everything
Not sure if it's only me but I enjoyed all the sound effects during cooking. Haha
It looks like an excellent fried rice recipe.
A little similar to the garlic fried rice on the philippines . love seeing what other culture and their own version of garlic rice. Thank you.
I love garlic fried rice!
What a coincidence! I bought the same box of hondashi today. I like adding it to a lot of things, like Japanese curry or stir-fry noodles for that extra umph. I’ll have to try this recipe out sometime.
Also, I’ve done fried garlic chips and fried shallot in the microwave before. You just have to be super careful and do it in like 30 second spurts. It takes about 2 minutes total depending on your microwave, and in this way I don’t have to use a pot or pan for this process lol.
I would love it if you would do a series on Japanese recipes!
