    Arleigh! It couldn't have happened to a better person! In just this year, I bought a Tern HSD, HSD Performance and ordered an HSD R14 because of your insights. Good for you! You received this reward for your generosity if I may say.

    I'm jealous of a couple of those upgrades, particularly the locking kickstand and a couple of the frame differences. The fact that it doesn't come in orange is the only thing making it easier to not try and upgrade from my original S10.

    Congratulations for your new job at Tern ! And thank you for the video. I suggest that you do a video with different configurations at the back, with children from different ages (2 kids under 5, one 5 years old kid and one 10 years old kid, 2 kids between 7 and 10,...). This is the major concern of parents who would like to buy this bike => Is it ok for me and my children ? And how long will I be able to transport them... Personnaly I have a 5 years old kil and a 9 years old kid ;-) And also how much stuff can this bike transport ? (A video with different configurations for the rear rack). Thank you. Julien from France 🇫🇷

    Congratulations Aleigh, on your announcement! Much deserved I'm sure. I haven't yet read the other comments but I hope that the "Bike Shop Girl" will continue to feature on CZcams in some form. I find it so informative. It would be a great loss. Even if it features only Tern bikes under a new title. I'm interested in the Tern GSD 2 trying to decide between the S00 and the R14. Some prefer Enviolo CVT others the Rohloff. Will Tern bring the 'Enviolo Automatiq' to the GSD in 2012 or 2022? It may be a comparable alternative to the Rohloff.

    • @BikeShopGirl
      @BikeShopGirl  Před 3 lety +1

      Patrick - thank you so much for the kind words. Keep in touch and let me know what content you are looking for.
      The new models are 2021 models. The R14 is a HOT bike and I expect it to sell out quickly at dealers. I personally will be sticking with the S00 as I don't personally enjoy the automatic feeling but know many people that do because you don't have to think about shifting. Personally, it's just natural - like driving a stick car!

      Thank you for replying Arleigh. I realise you are a very busy lady.
      I'm in my mid-fifties. I rode bikes up until my thirties but haven't ridden since due to the 16-mile (sometimes) hilly travel to work each morning. (25 years ago now.) I don't drive but with the advent of e-bikes here in the UK I am keenly interested to resume my commutes under my own steam (as opposed to public transport). You were the first to bring to my attention (in one of your videos) that electronic gear shifters should not be engaged under load. Thanks for that!🙂
      I realise the Rohloff hub is very expensive (perhaps $1000) and the second battery (perhaps up to $800) resulting in the R14 being more expensive. Not sure how that comes to a $2800 price difference with the S00, though. Like you I think the S00 is value for money. I don't have small children transport to school but I'm now looking at the S00 and the new HSD S+. There are a lot of similarities between them. The S00 edges it at the moment for me.
      Arleigh, I hope you will consider producing videos reviewing any upcoming and new Tern products following your appointment.🙏🙂

    Q1: As yours is the newest post on the new GSDs, I have to ask, "When will they be available in N. VA?" Any insights given your new position?
    Q2: If I do not pre-order from my LBS, once available in N. VA, how quickly can I get one if I wait to order then? Will there be enough stocked at the nearest distribution center to ensure they won't all be sold out before I can place an order?
    Q3: Which do you recommend for greatest flexibility in carrying cargo (not kids): Shortbed Tray, new ClubHouse Plus, or neither? Is the cut out in Shortbed tray still needed for Gen2 GSD with 2 batteries? Does new ClubHouse interfere with access to tops of the Cargo Hold-52 panniers?
    Q4: As a former LBS owner, would you say 50% up front is reasonable for my LBS to ask of me regarding a deposit to pre-order a bike?
    Thank you for your insights. Good luck and God bless and prosper you and your family in your new role with Tern.

    • @BikeShopGirl
      @BikeShopGirl  Před 3 lety +1

      1 & 2, I would ask your local dealer. If they have some already pre-ordered I would hope you will see them by the end of the year. Some of the models are already sold out for the first wave of bikes, so if they don't have those specific ones on preorder then you may be looking at early 2021.
      3 - I would start off with the Cargo Hold 52 and maybe a front rack to begin with and then add to it if you need. The clubhouse + does not interfere with the panniers, but neither did the original one. I haven't seen a shortbed installed on the Gen2. The length of the Gen2 is different so I would want to see it before saying.
      4 - depending on the shop it is typically between 50-100%. 50% if it is a bike they would normally be carrying and 100% if they never would have ordered that bike and the risk are too great for them to bring it in just for you.
      Please send me an email about the short bed if you really need to know asap! arleigh.greenwald@ternbicycles.com

    • @BikeShopGirl

    Question: I have a favorite bike seat. With the new GSD, is it easy to switch out the seat or do Tern bikes have unique attachments for seat rails? I like the concept of GSD's seat with the handle on the back but I prefer to use the seat that fits my body the best.

  • @Paladinbr

    My community is not well adapted for bicycles. I have multiple intersections where I have to cross major highways in traffic.
    Getting across quickly is the only way to avoid getting hit.
    Pedal assist only is not quick enough. Do these have a throttle option so I can scoot across 8 lanes of traffic before the light changes?

    • @puppydoll
      @puppydoll Před 3 lety +1

      these do not have a throttle

    • @RolandRides
      @RolandRides Před 3 lety

      With pedal assist you can ride longer routes, so maybe a few miles can help you to circumvent insecure intersections. The shortest route is usually not the nicest.

    • @Paladinbr
      @Paladinbr Před 3 lety

      @@RolandRides I'm well aware of what pedal assist is. I've built a BBSHD based cargo bike built onto a Yuba Boda Boda.
      I can either cross at least 2 highways, or break the law and ride on a restricted access highway for 6 miles each way and become street pizza on the ramps.
      Those are the only two options. This option is the longer route by an additional 4.5 miles.
      I don't take kindly to being spoken to like I'm a child or an idiot. If you didn't mean to talk down to me, maybe think about rephrasing your comments.

    • @Paladinbr
      @Paladinbr Před 3 lety

      @@RolandRides I didn't know whether the new model would incorporate a throttle. Hence why I asked.
      I prefaced the question with a statement about the situation in an attempt to head off items like your interjection.
      I don't know everything. Unlike you however, I don't assume others are idiots too stupid to map potential routes and weight potential risks.
