Merry Christmas, Matt! You are a great resource. I appreciate everything you provide for us.
Thanks and same to you!
Thanks for doing these videos Matt. These are invaluable. For one, it lets me know Im not out of touch with what Im teaching these young kids. I also keep a running playlist on youtube I share with parents to use at home with their players, and having a source like you helps reinforce what we teach at the facility. Having a source like this helps show Im not just spewing hot air! So a thousand more thanks for what you do here on this platform!
Thanks so much and I’m glad they help!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It’s right on point. Timing is the next step for my 8 year old and most of his friends. It’s a done deal if the opposing pitcher has a bit of speed on the pitch.
Thanks for watching and good luck to your son!
Great stuff!! Merry Christmas!
Thanks and same to you!
Love the content coach keep it up
Thank you!
Just excellent content. Merry Christmas from Southern California from a couple young ball players.
Thanks and good luck to you!!!
Merry Christmas coach to you and your family!
Thanks same to you!
Load early and preferably not rush your load. Completely with you on that.
At the same time loading too early will make you having to launch from a stationary loaded position which messes up launching and timing the incoming pitch.
In my opinion hitting incorporates 3 sequences of timing:
1) Timing of load (getting to launching position with front foot land);
2) Timing the incoming pitch from the launching position and initiating launch;
3) Timing the point of contact by adapting the swing on the go, after launch.
Sequence 1 can be learned quite easily;
Sequence 2 is a lot harder to improve as it depends on pitch recognition (releasepoint, arc, spin, speed, etc.); this can be improved through lots of repetition which is a challenge for many coaches to provide unless you have the means and personnel for a professional program;
Sequence 3, adapting the swing on the go effectively, seems to be such an ultimate subconscious mechanism/ability that I think it's largely determined by talent.
You’re one of those
What did u do to piss off Vin Scully!! I just watched the play that he called when the ball dropped in shallow right center with you playing 2b. Would have been a nice play but certainly not routine. One of the best play callers of all time and you got him mad!!!!!
Haha! He also mispronounced my name a few innings later lol. I’ll still take it!
Just got my Stratomatic baseball 2008 year because we are Phillies fans. Guess who's card is in there!!!!
Let’s go!
First.
Your videos are very helpful. I only played t-ball for a little bit. I didn't start learning how to, swing and throw til 2018.
