We camped at the Kruger Park a few times. One time a small child was feeding a Hyena a bone through the fence. The parents thought it was cute. The hyenas in the park are actually attracted by the bbq fires in the camps because of people feeding them.

I wondered the same thing, but having watched quiet a few lion attack videos I have realized that provoking them only makes them more vicious. If attacked, he would’ve simply carried the man off like a rag doll.

I watch these and my wife yells at me cause i wear a headset and binge on these but i get so angry. I am 6ft4 255 pounds and if i saw a Lion coming at me i would be in that car and fast. I saw one video where they saw a hippo across the river and watched it swim across and flip the boat lol.

That was the first thing I thought. Not the honking though because as per my knowledge, jungle jeep horns are disabled for not startling the animals.
But I was wondering why didnt the friend just drive the jeep and slowly hit/push the lion from the side without injuring him..that would have distracted him and would have loosen his bite.

Alex Spencer, the person attacked made a huge mistake. They/he tried to take a short cut, rather than go in prepared. The ranger's lack of critical thinking put his co workers in jeopardy as well as the whole pride, regardless of his good intentions.
I'm amazed he was able to get in the car without the lion attacking him. The lion was agitated and the man was injured so I was shocked he escaped.
