  • In this video, I bring you one of Roger Federer’s most important comebacks ever!! Back in 2009, when Roger had never won a single Roland Garros title, he faced Jose Acasuso in the second round of the French Open. Acasuso proved to be an extremely tricky opponent. The Argentine had 5/1 in the third set after winning the second set 7/5. Federer was on a mission though.

Hello everyone! Unfortunately, the original video of this match had some very quick edits right after the points were over. The video doesn't look as smooth as I'd want it to but I thought it'd be nice to show this game as it is not that famous but still super important for Roger's career. Hope you guys enjoy it!

Yea the one that came to mind was the one two matches later vs Haas. No details necessary as I see many others have mentioned how close he was to hitting the bricks... other than that there were quite a few comebacks between 05-08. There was a good tiebreaker vs del Potro in like 2011 or 12 where fed rallied down 1-6 or 2-6 to take the set and win in straights... rotterdam?

@@RogerThatTennis let's also not forget about the matches at RG vs delpotro, one he was in a bad position down 1 set to 2 and won in 5... then a year or two later he was straight up down 0 sets to 2 and came back to win in 5... and let's just throw in the double bagel beat down vs delpotro before all that.. there was a good comeback down 0 sets to 2 vs monfils, Fed won in 5. And what was that guy's name that he faced in the 1st round at Wimbledon.... a Latin gentleman, fed bageled him in the 5th...

@@RogerThatTennis Honorable mention to Andy Roddick Wimbledon final 2009, he would have won that match if he hadn't dogged that one overhead in the 2nd set tiebreaker up 5 (or 6?) set points. Probably the only match in Feds career I was borderline cheering for his opponent. Roddick played with grace and poise and handled the loss like a champ. Brought tears to my eyes. Roddick did not drop serve until the final point of the entire match that day. 16-14 in the 5th.

This was like the Lopez match at the 2007 US Open. Guy played lights out of a set and a half...and then the real Roger showed up at the party. This is why 3 guys have wond 58 of the last 66 Grand Slams. When great players are playing mediocre you've got to get the match over quick. Instead Roger, Djokovic and Nadal always find a way back into the match.
