- This concert is a WTTW produced concert, released in 1994 to follow up HLN's "Four Chords And Several Years Ago" Album. This was recorded and taped at the WTTW soundstage in my personal hometown of Chicago IL. There are multiple stage setups and outfits that HLN utilizes in this concert. This probably took countless hours to film. Great show IMO, really shows what this band can do and how strong they sound. This concert was released in 1994 on VHS only. This specific concert was taken off a VHS. (Please excuse the captions, I was not able to wipe them off the video.)

Loved every minute of this video! Great songs, musicians ...incredible! Wonderful guests! Huey has such energy and it's contagious ...people dancing, singing, everyone having a good time🎉 love all these songs..havent heard Function at the Junction in eons! WOW..endless hits. Outstanding band. Huey Lewis and the News forever😅❤
This aired on PBS not long after it was released. I recorded it on vhs, and cherished it. Younger people today don't realize how fortunate they are to have concerts like this at their fingertips.
I would vote Huey in Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
That's right..and he should of had one a long time ago..He worked his ass off..and shared his amazing voice with the world
Apparently there is a vocal harmony hall of fame. The Doobie Brothers are in it, but not Huey Lewis and the News. That's criminal
I would to
Incredible music, brought back to the stage with an amazing band and special guests. Feel-good, sounding great!
He could sing the phone book and sound amazing..Wow..My parents grew up in the 50's with this music..and now it's 2021 and I'm here appreciating this beautiful gem..I grew up in the 80's with Huey's music..I miss those times
Me, too. The phone book--got me laughing but you're absolutely right!!!

Most talented men on the planet. The epitome of "cool."
One of my all-time favorites of Huey Lewis & The News. A very diverse band.
This is what a great band sounds like....incredible..
No gimmicks, just 6 guys and talent.
One of the best bands ever!
Great clip of Huey and Lloyd Price! PERSONALITY the musical, about the life of Lloyd Price, will be in Chicago this summer (2023) at the historic Studebaker Theater. Tickets just went on sale...
I love it when he plays the harmonica
Best version of Thank You ever!
Amo los solos de guitarra de Chris Hayes Un guitarrista excepcional
Chi-town special night out. BBQ Ribs and blues and Huey Lewis and the news! Thanks dude. My place of birth and Cubs and Sox. And.......da Bears!
HLN kept the 50's and 60's alive, and are the only white boys who can sing black rhythm and blues with the same mastery of the music!
Agreed and Hall and Oates sang black Soul music but were white as well
Huey's voice was really on point in this timeframe. He killed the vocals in this shoot.
When Sam is on stage performing "I Thank You" with the boys, Huey genuinely looks like he's having the time of his life here.
This is a real gem and I hope it stays on youtube forever. I've still got this album on tape somewhere, and I listened to it hundreds of times, and remember all the words. It's never been on his Spotify, in the UK at least. Which is sad, because it's one of the band's better albums, probably due to all the great songs. Great stuff!
sad that todays crowds just cant appreciate pure gold like thi
s...
Everyone made fun of HLN thinking that they are a bar pop group of their times. Now, 25 years past their prime, we come to appreciate how good they were then. I"ve seen the 25 plus times in concert. I wish I had seen them more, now that he's not performing any more.
Love these guys!!! Huey is awesome he has a voice and energy you just got to love!!!
thanks for sharing this good old stuff 🎸
This makes me so happy! I’ve never seen this footage before. One of my absolute favorite Huey Lewis and the News albums. Huey and the boys are true fans of this era of music & it shows during this performance. Thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to watch it again!
Takes Me back to My youth! I still have The C.D. and It's still one of My favorites. Great share Thanks!!
I just love this kind of old school soul/r'n'b/blues/rock'n'roll music spiced with some his hit rock songs from the 80'ties, I have the four chords and ten years ago on cd. This kind of music suits Huey Lewis & The News very well almost PERFECTLY. It's definately PARTY music, almost the whole audience are dancing, rocking out and having some GREAT FUN. The stage and the whole hall/studio is somewhat similar to Elvis Presley "Jailhouse Rock". Sam Moore and Lloyd Price were great soul artists from the past decades...
I agree!
i found this concert on VHS at a goodwill its a great one!!!!!
Awesome performance they owned the 80s
Possibly the best live show I've ever seen!
True early American Rock-n-Roll at its best here!!!!!
I love the rendition of "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl". Huey's harmonica and Sean's organ are smoking!
No.. but the bass player is
13:36 Some Kind Of Wonderful
23:50
24:22 Good Morning Little School Girl
My wife and I are in the crowd to the side, clapping along. Thanks for posting this.
I'd be really interested to know how this was filmed, considering there are at least two stage setups.
that's cool.
@@philb4462 It was filmed on consecutive nights, I believe the "contemporary" stuff was filmed first.
on top of their game! :) thnx
This was a great show 👍👍🎶🎸🎶🎸👏👏
This is actually one of my favorite albums by anyone. It's so much fun to listen to!
no me canso de verlos, es una banda muy muy muy espectacular, gracias por compartir la presentación
Seeing this concert goes to show that you do not have to dress crazy or run around the stage like an idiot to have a good show and to have your audience to enjoy the show as well.
I need to download this. Wish I could.
I saw him and his band at Universal studios. The absolute best concert I have ever had the privilege of attending! My all time favorite band.
Don't get much better than that...
Good stuff!
I've been looking for this for a long time! Thanks for posting!
Thank you! Haven’t seen this since the original WTTW broadcast.
WHY IS HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS NOT IN THE ROCK N' ROLL HALL OF FAME !!!!!!!!!!! AND I EMPHASIS NOT !!!!!! WHY HAVE A ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME.....THEY HAVE A GREAT BODY OF WORK AND CERTAINLY PAID THEIR DUES......HOW ABOUT IT !!!!!!
They're too busy letting in groups that have almost no business being there. They let in Whitney Houston BEFORE this band, let that sink in. Her career started AFTER these guys, she's dead and its not like she appreciated the honor and her music had nothing to do with rock and roll. She was just a pop singer and couldn't even play an instrument. I like Whitney, really I do but c'mon...she should not be in the HOF BEFORE a band that wrote the song "Heart or Rock and Roll". Sad.
the rock and roll hall of fame sucks anyway
Why, I couldn't put it any better than the lead singer of another band that has been disgustingly overlooked. The HOF is, "run by a bunch of sanctimonious bloody Americans who wouldn’t know rock ’n’ roll if it hit them in the face."
No need to shout, boomer
A.D. go get a Snickers, boomer doomer ploomer
Very good song! And cool
They were the best. Fawk the Stones, Ledz, U2!
E X C E L S O ! ! !
Guys we are living in the end times rn
Jesus can return anytime soon. SO PLEASE TURN TO THE LORD
He's waiting and Loves you very much ✝️l
Elvis
This had to be one of Mario's last shows, right?
What ever happen to the bass player and is he with the band.
Mario was fired in 1994-5 due to a drug addiction. He has played with the band occasionally since on one off shows but looks like won’t happen again due to Huey going deaf and also Mario apparently has a bad back so can’t stand for a whole show anymore
Great band but sadly this is one of the last times Mario played with him before he got fired.
He was fired in 1999, I think.
@@defiverr4697 He was fired at the end of 1994
@@charlienorton2337 well, miss him a lot. Lots of bands have drug problems and he just needed help and intervention. Still the marquee basis. Forever.
@@defiverr4697 Yeah I miss him too however think of it this way - at least he’s still around and is active on FB and occasionally on his youtube channel
Yeah it was sad. The problem is that the drugs take over and unreliability creeps in and then the playing is out. Thats what happened to Howie Epstein in Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and why his photo is not on the Echo Album cover. Sad as Mario was good.
This is not the Chicago of 2021, unprecedented murder rate with a clueless Mayor Lori Lightfoot, a great town and a gathering place of great music has been allowed to descend into chaos.
