I really love how voice actors are getting attention lately. Feel like they weren’t really recognized outside of conventions. They really bring life to the animations
My dream is to see animated movies casting voice actors for most of their roles instead of non-voice actors who just sound like themselves every time.

Props to Dimaggio for straight up rating the impressions and being honest. Some of these were rough, and it's nice to see real critique instead of "oh yeah, he's got the vibes"
Its weird hearing him talk normally but you still hear little bits and pieces of the characters naturally in his voice.

This is the most accurate rating of impressions so far. I appreciate John DiMaggio not sugar coating it and just calling bad impressions out for what they are. Everyone else has been too nice.
This guy is too unique to be replaced!
There are many voices and characters that many many skilled impersonators can do, but I think Bender might be a once in a lifetime kind of thing!

I’m listening to his Dr. Drakken and for some reason, I hear a hint of Mark Hamill’s Joker. Not the Arkham games Joker where he sounds older, but the animated series one where he still sounds young and energetic. Not saying he copied Mark Hamill, but I can really hear some similarities with his Drakken and Hamill’s Joker.
I know right, he's might favorite voice of the Joker next to Hamill's.

Drakken's voice is iconic. Just the way he talks and screams *SHEGO!* makes the show so much better.
In all of these videos, John Dimaggio is by far my favorite just because he legitimately criticizes the people he’s listening instead of saying “They’re really good but not quite there”
I'm impressed with his ability to articulate and teach his technique. If John DiMaggio every made a Master Class on voice acting it would be an instant success.

I think the first guy shows this. The voice sounded right, but the acting was off.
Exactly. Anyone can talk into a microphone. However, it takes expertise and vocal training to channel a character.

Jake’s voice really is a warm hug. A warm caring brotherly hug, which is what Jake is to Finn and to all of us.

I "aged" out of cartoons around the time the show became popular so I dont share the same nostalgic viewpoint but the voice still sounds like that even to me

That's what I thought about it. It's a good impression, but it needs a touch more aggression and bombastic energy.
Watch the first season of futurama....Bender sounds a lot different than the 4th+ seasons. He sounds way more like that.

His impression was actually the best one in the video, it was Season 1 Bender.
I asume he was “drunk” because he said he needed a beer. In Futurama Bender gets drunk if he doesn’t have booze.
I love John giving legit feedback and advice to these impressionists. Tough love is often more valuable than empty praise. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great when these voice actors are flattered and encouraging the impressionists (sometimes that's needed), but I really love an industry pro giving technique guidance and approach recommendations advice.

Yeah, I immediately thought he was doing season 1 Bender because it sounded spot on.
I thought it sounded good too, only thing I noticed is it seemed like he was speaking a bit slowly, which is understandable because he's trying to do the voice.
I kind of feel bad for these people doing John's voice. he's being very kind to them. most of these are not good.

John really had it tougher than the other voice actors. He isn't tryna be mean, but he's completely honest when the guys doing his voice just couldn't quite make the cut.

And that alone is why Wakka is my favorite character in FFX
He's got such a unique voice. I can't even get close to imitating Bender
John DiMaggios voice is literally a blend of all his characters. When he talks, I hear Jake and Drakken, with the toughness and laugh of Bender.
It wasn’t until recently I heard Drakken sounds more like a sophisticated bender
He does 1000 different versions of the same voice.

Met this guy at galaxy con in Richmond VA with my son. This guy couldn't have been more awesome. I asked for a selfie with him and my son, he grabbed my phone and snapped a TON of pics with him and my son making goofy faces. This guy is a class act !!!!

I'm so glad Futurama is returning. I've really been hoping it would. I have seen every episode multiple times.
John is on my long list of fav voice actors. Others include (but aren't limited too) Tress MacNeille, Nancy Cartwright, Tom Kenny, Richard Steven Horvitz, and Tara Strong.
I love that he has such multifaceted voices, but when you hear one of his characters you absolutely know it’s him. Especially in the laughs. It’s almost like his voice is a brand.

he is honestly a king when it comes to voice acting because he is still doing the whole gears franchise and a bunch of shows and his voices make up my entire childhood. i grew up kim possible, adventure time, futurama, and still growing up with gears.

I love how some actors doing the reviews of their impressions gave a lot of "A for effort" kind of praise, and John is just giving dead on critiques of their impressions and explaining exactly why their impressions aren't quite up to snuff, love this guy
Being a voice actor is something I always wanted to do and these videos are so helpful and fun too watch

the thing about voice impressions is not just doing a voice its becoming a character and brining it to life.
I didn't know he did Marcus Fenix I loved the first gears of war trilogy it was some of my favorite co-op games to play.
And I'm sure that there's many people besides myself that grew up with Futurama and it holds a special place in our hearts.

DUDE, this was the BEST one of these ever! It kept his reviews and reactions 100% honest. This is why I love John DiMaggio. Mad respect for him. No fake praise for the impressions just because they are doing his voices.

The problem is that all his voices are just modifications of his own voice. So unless your voice is similar to his you will struggle because he has a distinctive gravelly voice already.

I really appreciate the editor who put in a clip of the character's voice before each impression. I'm not familiar with the Gears of Wars or Adventure Time voices, so that was really helpful to get that immediate frame of reference before listening to the impression
I really liked his Joker, his Joker voice was so menacing and he really took that voice in a different direction.

I met John DiMaggio at a fan convention and got him to sign a Kim Possible poster with Dr. Drakken on it
I met him at an Amsterdam coffeeshop. They now have a very unique autographed Bender on their wall lol
