  • While I love using Obsidian to take connected Bible notes, sometimes I prefer to bust out some pen and paper and take a sketchnote. The difficulty, combining sketchnotes and obsidian notes.
In today's video I show you how I make the most of both sketchnotes and digital bible notes for a unique approach.

Thanks Brother, your videos really helped me to understand Obsidian better and figuring out how I will use it in the future. Love the theme of the sermon as well, seems like someone has read Matthew Bates, no?

You know another commentator said the same thing and I then found the book on the preacher’s bookshelf so yes! Someone has been reading Bates. I think his idea of pistis as allegiance is very helpful but I need to actually check out his book rather than just interviews with him.

Curious about your linking of Bible texts ... do you have the hole Bible in your vault?
Also, do you use Obsidian for your actual sermon outline/manuscript or just for notes before hand?

Hey Andrew. Yes, I have the whole Bible (WEB version) in my vault. I do use Obsidian for my note taking and sermon planning but I also use Logos Bible software for that and I'm still refining what parts I like doing in each. Sorry I can't be clearer on that. For taking notes of a sermon I attend, I do that almost exclusively with pen and paper (unless I forgot them!)

@@chrisjwilson Thanks for the reply. I have preached 2 sermons now from my obsidian vault directly. I am enjoying the format and the way I can work with quotes. Logos would be great, but I'm too poor for it. So, I used to use a text editor with note file for notes and analysis, one file for quotes, and a third file for the final draft. Since I code webpages - I stored each sermon in a div tag with unique ID's. But the system was not the best for searches and quickly finding things I had done before etc., so I wanted to give Obsidian a go. I just want to keep it as lightweight as possible. Your videos have been helpful brother.
      with all godly affection,

It’s Minimal with some customised elements. But I use the LYT theme now.

Not a good sermon, whoever preached it.
Faith is trust. Trust in Jesus who died for ous sins and rose again. It's simple. So simple in fact that many people miss it, sadly.
