I really appreciate the addition of some trauma gear to this list. It is often overlooked. I’ve been fortunate enough to not have had any major injuries, but I live alone so this is a must have in my book.
Great video man. I look forward to the next one.
Overture is pretty much all I use for PLA and PETG. Also, check out the Ryobi cordless compact glue gun! It's super tiny and runs off their 18V battery platform..
I really like my FastCap tape measure. It’s got the fractions written out and it’s got the numbers written to be read both directions. Pretty awesome.
My favorite, too.
Second that
Yep
I have their lefty/righty. It is great.
I have a couple fast cap tapes and love using them, but it did take a couple times making the mistake of reading the incorrect side of the tape (68” instead of 86”) to make me pay more attention when pulling the tape
Love this video. I keep meaning to leave a comment on the podcast, but one of the things I always enjoy about your work is both seeing you "figure it out", and also knowing that you've likely tried a number of options (of glue, or filament, for example) and landing on something that works. Takes out a lot of guesswork for us amateur makers out there, and it's appreciated.
Thanks, I appreciate that
Funny because it’s true. Okay, maybe not exactly funny. But, still very true.
I like the overture PETG quite a bit. That's usually what I buy. Glad to see they have moved to cardboard packaging.
overture is trash PLA once you actually get into good filament like the jessie brand or filament one you can see a very noticeable difference
I bought my Gerber Crucial YEARS ago after Bob recommended it and I love it. It goes everywhere with me.
Same here 😁
You should consider doing a shop, shed and HQ tour soon... You made some significant improvements, adjustments, and decorations over time.
I see you even count your items in the imperial system now! 😆 Thanks for the list!
Haha!
This is a top notch list, and somehow feels much more genuine than the typical "10 gifts to buy a maker" videos that flooded youtube last week.
Thanks Devin!
Fast Cap makes a 12 foot Metric/Standard tape measure. In addition to displaying measurements in centimeters or inches, it also has a scratchpad to write dimensions in pencil. It also has a pencil sharpener built into it.
I have this tape and love it
Great video.
My grandfather had a toolbox like that when he was young, me and my dad still use it.
I feel like you can never have a cutting mat big enough, just wanna cover my entire floor.
First aid stuff is very important, why do I have a kit in my car and not in my garage/shop?
Gotta get that helping hands, great for other projects, not just electronics
Oh I remember you talking about those boxes on the podcast a couple years ago. Definitely want to check those out!
I have a spool of the Overture TPU in the P1S right now, love it! Great product.
Thanks a bunch for all the tips, Bob! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
And happy holidays!
I love my Gerber paraframe knife! Always in my pocket
Right before thanksgiving I had an incident with my table saw. Nothing super bad, just touched the meat of my thumb to the blade accidentally. Took a small chunk out of the center of my fingerprint area. (I got lucky; it could have been a LOT worse.) At urgent-treatment they decided it was too wide to stitch, but they put a small square of that clotting foam on the wound and wrapped it up in surgical tape with some gauze. Healed up fine within a couple of weeks. The foam protected the wound really well and soaked off with warm water or saline solution.
Love these types of videos and very much appreciate learning about something I didn’t know I needed (looking at you Armbar).
I’ll second those shelf brackets. I used some in a video a while back when I made a pizza oven cart and needed some extra out-of-the-way shelf space.
Love seeing the Royal Ambassadors knife! Sure wish I still had mine. But I’ve still got my vest lol
Another bonus for that Blue Trusco toolbox? It's Tardis Blue, and it's bigger on the inside.
All cool, useful items. Definitely going to check out those tool boxes. Thanks Bob!!
Appreciate you keeping safety on the list, even for gift giving. I recently bought and mounted up a first aid kit in my garage because the teenagers keep moving the bandages and we can never find them when we need it (for minor scrapes thankfully!). Good to have the reminder at a time of year when people might be out making gifts.
I've got the QuadHands helping hand kit, and I agree it's worth the money for anyone who does soldering or electronics regularly. Would also be useful for model-making, I imagine.
Overture is a solid choice for filament. Would also add that Hatchbox is another good option in the same price range, if the color or material you want isn't available from Overture. Also, if you have a Prusa printer, I think there's merit to going with Prusament. With a slicer profile that's tuned for both printer and filament, you can get really outstanding results. Same probably goes for the Bambu labs stuff though I don't have one of those.
Keep up the good work, and thanks for the suggestions...will likely pick up (or ask for) some E6000, as I've been wanting a good option for an all-around glue.
I keep one of those clotting sponges attached to my tablesaw with a magnet, and another in the bathroom of my shop. Going to add compression bandages to both locations - thanks!
Thanks for the recommendations for the collapsible table support. I need to build an out feed extension, this will be great
Great video, Bob~! I'll be looking at several of these items, especially the clotting sponge & pressure bandage. I have a first aid kit, but these are great additions to it. Only one tool in my shop with SawStop tech on it, so these are must haves. Thanks much~!!
Thanks Bob!
Have a great holiday!
I'll give a thumbs-up to the Overture filaments, I've tried a variety and they work just about as well as anything else. I am partial to Polymaker, but Overture is often cheaper. I also love those toolboxes! Such a classic design, they would probably last a lifetime.
fast cap glu bot has been my favorite wood glue bottle. highly recommend if doing alot of glue ups.
Haven't used the Armbar yet, but I love my Gerber Multipliers, I've had one since I was in Boy Scouts. I've been carrying the MP600 for a couple of years but used the MP400 before that.
I really like carrying a compact set of pliers, and I like the way you can deploy them one handed with a flick of the wrist
The 400 had a pair of scissors on it and they were incredibly handy. I might have to go back to those again. The 600 are bigger, but I don't really need the extra size.
I'm a big fan of esun pro pla and my Ryobi hot glue gun. Its powered from the drill battery and when you're done with it you can just set it down you don't have to worry about it falling over using the little metal piece that some of them have
To go with your trauma items, consider a tourniquet. Have several, each near a device that can perform an unplanned amputation.
Love those tool boxes, I have the same ones you do! ANA (the airlines) has these boxes (larger size) as standard issue at their aircraft maintenance facilities in Japan.
I use overture too, printed many spools of it. Great results, cheap, consistent.
Good call with the trauma sponge! Definitely one of those "hope you never need it" bits of first aid kit, but first aid is something that's not often talked about - trauma first aid doubly so
Love Gerber. I carry the Gerber Dime on my keychain and it's saved me a hundred times over.
This is what I love most about this channel. Form & Function. and I too am a member of the E6000 fan club. I always say I could glue Lou Ferrigno to a lawn chair with that stuff.
Great list! When I got a laser engraver I had to buy a Metric tape measure it just makes it easier, for me at least, when working out sizing on the laser engraver.
Can’t live without my engineer scale tapes. I have a pile of them in my toolbox just from ordering more while the others were lost.
I like my ryobi glue guns. I have the one for the small sticks that is a cordless and has the base to heat it up. Better than a plug in one. So if you stop your project for a bit your glue does not run out to a melted pile. I also have the large glue gun as well. Matter of fact I just used it last night. A drawer that I use a lot has some baskets in it holding stuff in it and they always move so I just added some glue to the edges to keep them in place. Works wonders!
Compression bandage and clotting agent are great but compressed gauze too and a tourniquet is a must-have (carried on body!) when operating just about anything powered and with saw in it's name or that could otherwise give you an inch deep by inch long laceration. (Inch by inch is my standard because that covers most of the places on your body that could give you enough of an arterial bleed to forever end your making within just 30-120 seconds. You do you.)
Where has the crew been? Haven't seen them in a while now
Thank you so much for sharing all the tips. Have a happy holiday! Thank you!
I picked my desk that I got for home office work to fit a 24x36 cutting mat. For cutting mats, as big as will fit is the best size.
Thanks for the tips Bob! I just loaded up my cart and ordered a bunch of stuff through your links. Happy Holidays!
Thanks!
Very nice and informative video! Happy holidays! 🙂
Love you‘are videos 🎉❤
Great info Bob - merry Christmas!!
Fantastic list! Going to give Weld Bond a try, Glue that dries clear sounds amazing :)
Overture is all I’ve used since they became available. Love it.
Another really good brand for printer filament is Inland. Especially if you're using PLAs. They're inexpensive and always work great for me. They have also moved over to cardboard spools and even offer spooless options that you can swap onto a reusable spool.
Thanks for the ideas Bob, gonna get that gerber multi-tool and try out that wellbond!
Great vid Bob!
Thanks!
Heck yes. Great video! Nice to see some different things.
quad hands also makes one tha attaches to the base of a panavise. its a great addition to the pana
The nextool flagship mini is my favourite multitool. Tiny, but mighty with pliers and actually good, full size scissors.
Got the arm bar drive. Looks nice. Thanks
A genius use of “in no particular order” also, I’ve never related to a blooper harder as my family seems to know when I’m filming and choose that moment to flush.
Absolutely!! That main drain line goes RIGHT THROUGH THE SHOP! :)
Lots of cool stuff and stuff that no shop should be without! Thanks for the ideas!
Good vid, thanks!!! Keep up the good work.
Hey Bob. Nice vid, always informative and fun. Any chance you could make a follow up on your arduino powered blast gate automation? Interested in how much maintenance is needed since you installed it.
Thank you again!
Heh, those blue fold-out tool boxes are THE standard toolbox where I live. I inherited my grandfather's one. Different brand, but exact same idea.
Thanks Bob
less a pocket and more a keychain tool but i have the old style swiss mini champ and love it for a single inclusion the pen. now it looks like they made a diffrent model that also has a pen
Great video and great tips
There is also white E6000 glue. Been using it for years. Great video
I just bought like 5 of the overtruder glow in the dark filament, I need to tune the heat since I get a lot of 🧵, but the regular filament has been good.
Hands down, best part of the video was the number "final v_2". That was hilarious!
That’s a great list and very entertaining video.
Thanks!
thanks for including the link for the list! could you share the link for the maker knife? I didn't see it in the list...
I've been using the Gerber Armbar in my mountain bike pack for years. Having a full size blade and tool arm has been a life safer! Going to get my father one of those Trusco tool boxes for xmas!
Overture ❤ never fails me!
Best wish list I've seen this season.
Great list and loved how you gave up on counting and went with it! 😂
do you have a video on your desk at 10:50 i love that design
Love your Videos!
The Cable Holder at your Electronics Bench, is it DIY or did you buy it somewhere?
You had me a Gerber😂
Might get those helping hands. I have some but they're so cumbersome
Thanks bob!
Very useful stuff! Actually am going to put some of these on my list. How do you share a CZcams video with Santa?
Great!!
Nice list. Especially like the clotting inclusion. Thanks from Colorado.
I love overture petg great stuff
Like the list.random() ordering 🤗
can you do a CZcams short about tape measures where you extend all of your 12' tapes and compare their precision and accuracy?
All the measuring tapes that you can buy in my country in the local hardware stores are imperial and metric like the komelon.
Was funny when you were talking about knives and the ones you had ”fallen Into recently” and have a red spot on your T-shirt. Very clumsy!😂
Lots of good ideas that you don't see on other channels, thanks. - Chris
Re: Overture filament - They seem to be about the same price as Polymaker normally. I think I'll have to check them out once I get through all of the rolls that I bought.
Never heard of the sponge but could have done with it when I cut my thumb open.
E6000 is great. I've used it for so many things. You can even repair shoes with it!
It’s a good day when Bob posts a new video!
Nice video - where is the knife link?
imperial/metric tape measures are literally all we have in the UK lol unless you specifically buy one that isnt from a tool merchant or amazon
🎁 cool beans 🎁
B.e.a.n.s. C.o.o.l.
Ranch beens 🫘
I thought the cutting board said SLAYER MAT and was like "yayy, SLAYEEERRRR!!!!!!"
those toolboxes are vintage man ;-) my grandfather had it like for 50 years
I second overture filaments, I use them for most of my pla and it always works great. Also I don’t think it’s an Amazon brand, I’ve used Amazon basics brand filament and it actually sucked, couldn’t get it to stick to the bed reliably
They arent Amazon brand but do 100% of their shipping through Amazon's warehouses
the numbering "system" was specifically made to make my OCD go CRAZY today 😅😅😅 thanks!
As nice as a compression bandage is, a windlass tourniquet can also be applied with one hand.
