- In this video, we have a look at this air cooled Honda BF2.3D outboard engine and why it won't start.
It’s not a good idea to run these engine for a long time out of water as per manufacturer instructions but a short test run won’t hurt. This is down to the build up of exhaust gas temperatures over a prolonged time damaging internal parts which would normally be in water

Very helpful video for future reference. I only paid 100 quid for mine the guy advertised for parts, the only problem was spark plug socket loose. There is another problem now a little bit of oil leakage from somewhere. I think gaskets need replacing. Thank you for sharing.
Let me know how you get on with the oil leak.
Location and how you fixed it 👍
Nice! Copied what you did. Had the exact same problem. Runs fine now😊
👍 Brilliant, thanks for watching and glad it helped you !
I had mine cleaned. Now I empty the carb each time and stabilize fuel but far from a reliable engine and only 6 months old. I'm ready to give up on Hondas, bloody unless.
Sounds like the idle jet is still blocked if it won’t idle
Too bad we cant see anything you do as you always point too high with the camera
Hard to tell till after when using the head mount, will try harder next time 😅
Rereading my comment i came off a but entitled, what i mean was more like i have this same problem and would have loved to see in more detail how you checked for spark :)
@@demolaishonwowno worries,
I've got a video on testing outboard ignition, link below.
I know it's not the same engine, but the idea is the same for testing.
