  • Which Hand to Use on the CROSSFADER for Scratching? ★ SCRATCH DJ TIPS // In this video, I answer a question that I get asked by DJs all the time: Which hand should you use on the crossfader for scratching?
I know this can be a pesky paw predicament for many DJs out there, so I'm here to demystify this maddening mitt mystery once and for all. 🐾
I'll get nerdy with it and dive into the anatomy of our hands because it's so important to understand how many bones are in each hand.
Do you know how many? Probably just a handful, right? 😹
But seriously, let's get to the answer you're really looking for: Which friggin’ HAND?!
    The quick answer is BOTH.
(Yup! The same advice I gave you for the record hand in this video: • Which Hand Should You ... ...but now we're talkin' about the crossfader.😘)
Wait wait wait… don’t have a finger freak out.
You do NOT have to be ambidextrous.
Each scratch requires a different type of hand movement, so the hand that feels easier on the fader is usually relative to the scratch itself.
Sometimes your non-dominant hand might even feel a little easier on the scratches that require a lighter touch, so it's important to give both hands a shot.
In this 10-minute video, I'll walk you through how to choose which hand to use on the crossfader for each scratch so you can learn and teach yourself new techniques super fast!
Remember, there's never just one right way to do something in the DJ world (or in the world-world!). We all have unique styles, strengths, and gifts.
So experiment a ton, learn a few different methods, and then do what feels right for YOU. 💖
    Hope you dig it! ⚡
    xo,

I used the platter far more than the cross fader for 20 years then put my decks on a shelf for 18 years! Been trying to get into it again now and pick up all these cross fader techniques. Videos like this really help. Thanks

This has been my biggest challenge all along. My right hand is way better on the fader but I remember playing guitar long ago where my left hand did most of the work and tying that to this is helping gain confidence in left hand on the fader. Love your vids!

And literally right as I was typing that last comment about comparing my weak hand to how well it worked playing guitar, a guitar lesson ad popped up. I see you big advertising❤

J'avoue 🙏! Je m'entraîne des deux côtés, je réalise que j'ai du coup développé deux identités scratchologiques..Et c'est trop cool et motivant! J'invite tout scratcheur à développer ces deux identités !

I'm right handed and my power side is left deck, right hand on the fader. I never thought about standing directly behind the right deck and relaxing my left on the fader, even though that's how Qbert does it, come to think about it... definitely gonna work on my weak side now 👍🏽
