By far the most jaw-dropping event of yesternight happened at the Oil Can. I couldn't even be mad at the Kings because this was like watching a top fuel dragster versus a stock Camaro...The assist machine that is Connor McDavid went on to show why they can be indefensible. What was that, a pirouette when he spun Mikey Anderson out of his kit? McDavid could've won a figure skating medal at the same time he's feeding Hyman 1,100 hats...That was impressive...

McDavid, Dreiseitl and Hyman just incredible. It wasn't just that they happened to score. It wasn't lucky. They are just lethal. McDavid's ability to make great decisions to stall a moment for a goal crossing pass is above everyone else.

This was an absolute blowout. Those two fluky goals at the end really mask just how nasty it was for LA.
That's how you have to play this Kings team. Bumrush them immediately and don't allow them to get their one goal and sit on it. Hope the Oil can stick to it 🙌

McDavid is just unreal. I’m a flames fan and it hurts SO MUCH watching him but I always watch the oilers once we’re out of the playoffs. He’s otherworldly and I can’t not watch the elite talent in the playoffs.

Never felt like the Oilers weren’t winning this game, other than the stretch in the 2nd. That Ceci stick break was pretty brutal in the 3rd

Oilers powerplay was a little different from regular season, seems they've been keeping some stuff away from eyes for post season. LA pk had no chance.

The Oilers 7 game losing streak in game 1's is over!
This is gonna be a quick series if the Kings can't slow down the Oilers offense. Especially the power play.
In the last seven playoff games against Los Angeles. Edmonton is 12 for 20 on the power play. So yeah if Los Angeles doesn't figure out how to slow down this Edmonton power play this is going to be a very short series.

McDavid was unbelievable in this game! Living in the eastern US, I don't get many chances to see the Oilers in action and it was worth staying up for!

Like three of the Kings' 4 goals were just complete luck. 6-1 would be more indicative of how the game went. If Oilers keep their foot on the gas, this could be over in 4 or 5.

Oilers finally win the first game of the series. Oilers PP was rockin at 75%. Oilers PK at 100%. The boys took very few penalties (2). They blocked a lot more shots and took more shots. LA was laying on the hits very heavy. I couldn't watch or listen to the game so I am going straight from stats. FYI, I get a few hours a day without the bandages on my eyes and I chose to use some of that time doing this. No guarantees for future games but I'll do my best.
In so far as the other matches this evening Toronto tied up their series with Boston by winning 3-2 (so all tied up at 1 each), Carolina came from behind and beat the Islanders leading their series 2-0, Vegas beat Dallas 4-3 to take a 1-0 lead in their series plus us beating LA.

This is the Cam Talbot I know as a Sens fan
As a kings fan our defense isn’t good when going against the oilers.. the entire game we just stood there and not a single guy put pressure on them and we let them constantly get closer and make easier passes through the middle.. we had hyman standing in front of the net to the side of talbot and both of our defensemen stood there and never took the man but when they see the pass go through them they try to get it with their stick and missed every time. Also our penalty kill was horrible! We let them win my PP alone.
The Oilers were flying. No team can stop them when McDavid and company are playing their best. LA didn't give up. They made it interesting late in the second.
i did feel bad about participating in the talbot chants, still love the guy. BUT HES NOT ON OUR TEAM ANYMORE SO CHANT AWAY BOYS

At one point, I started finding it hilarious that so many people were joining in and did so myself, I just wish it was more appropriately timed 😂

I know that it was either the Oilers or the Stars where it was the hockey’s version of “pick your poison,” but Dallas lose to Vegas on Monday night, so…
If the Oilers win Game 2, then it's all over...for the Kings' team, management, everything. It doesn't even matter what others think. This has happened to the Kings in their past and is a cautionary tale! It's a shame, but the entire hockey world knew what the Kings needed going into last summer. And blake-inbetween surfing the coast-obviously/or is that obliviously-chooses adding a questionable forward to finding an upscale goaltender. I've never seen such a move in my entire life. Meanwhile, did he really think he'd find anyone to match up to one of the best #1 picks in our generation? For those of you who wonder, I've followed the Kings for a lifetime...and, like watching games/live in L.A., there is a time for remaining/hopefully sweating things out, and there's a time to pass through the turnstiles and quickly exit to beat traffic. I can’t see anything different that the Kings can do to win this series.

I mean they're arguably one of the best defensive teams every year they just keep running into the Oilers who are getting better every year and one of maybe 2 teams that the 1-3-1 doesn't really work against.
they didn't really feel like they were playing their game here. i only really got to see the third period, but what i saw seemed to be a lot of standing around waiting to see what happened. which lines up with what i was told about by my family who was able to watch the first two periods. not helped by the refs. what i did see was inconsistent at best. now, when i see dubois take a penalty, i usually more or less "he probably earned it". but in the third period, he got holding for... as best i could tell, breathing on the guy? while being grabbed from behind himself. i doubt it was the difference in this game, the kings need to wake the hell up, based on what i saw, but something im inclined to keep an eye on going forward
@edschramm6757 Mcdavid was getting grabbed all night if either team was getting helped by the refs it was the Kings but honestly every fanbase thinks that way. The Kings tried to play their game for the 1st 2 periods until they fell far behind. I think you're just underrated the Oilers.

I still don’t understand why Lewis goal was disallowed. If it went straight in I’d have less issue. The puck hit off Edmonton goalie thus neglecting a redirect and resulting in an own goal. They counted the other put in by oil for La. I read and reread the rules and it seems like a grey area. Good win Edmonton probably wouldn’t change the outcome. GKG!

I have never seen a more lackadaisical attempt to even _try_ to prevent them from getting powerplays, and they're not even good at defending them either (12 for 20). Night in and night out the soilers FEAST on the kings while on the man advantage.
I was an optimist for LA this year, but this series isn't going anymore than 5. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if LA has a lead in game 4 and somehow manages to blow it in the final minutes of the third period and loses it in OT, resulting in a sweep.
Just a horribly coached and constructed team. Bergevin and Blake need to be gone as soon as this series is concluded!!

As a neutral fan I would love the goal at 4:30 to count. It's not like the player intentionally played the puck with their hand. They were turning and were trying to play the puck with the stick and got redirected into the net. 🧡💛🧡

Edmontons glaring past mistakes showing up again this game. Lethal offense… Mcdavid is a psycho maniac on the ice, but the defense was atrocious at times and the second they take their foot off the offensive pedal, they cough up goals. Not taking anything away from the Kings here but if the Oilers get cocky and let up. This could be a long series. Also, Desharnais still remains one of the worst defensemen in the league at times. I’d like to note that yeah maybe some of the Kings goals might be lucky, that’s hockey and you have to have skill to have luck. Need to take the Kings seriously.
Hope the Oilers knock out LA early, they are such a boring team.
