THE WORST GUCCI EXPERIENCE! HOW A BAD GUCCI SALES ASSOCIATE RUINED MY WHOLE SHOPPING TRIP!

- I'm still in shock over a horrible experience I had while shopping at one of my favorite brands, Gucci, over the holidays. While I was shopping at a Gucci boutique back home in North Carolina in December, I wanted to try on some handbags that I've had my eye on like the small Gucci Aphrodite bag and the 1947 Gucci Bamboo bag. But unfortunately I didn't end up buying anything, because I had a truly terrible experience with a Gucci sales associate who was oddly aggressive and pretty rude/condescending to me...which honestly made me feel really awful. But thankfully, another Gucci sales associate came in and essentially "saved the day", and totally turned around my experience. If it wasn't for that second sales associate, I would have left so upset about what happened to me. But that just goes to show you... not all luxury sales associates are created equal.
Now I normally genuinely enjoy going luxury shopping, but clearly this day was a very different story for me. I had a similar experience last week at Dior. I’m living in Germany and till now never had any bad experience either at Gucci nor another boutiques, but last week i decided i will gift myself my first dior bag(not really a bag), i didnt want anything fancy i only wanted the saddle belt bag and the mitzah scarf. Lil info.: Here in Germany u cant even go into the store till one associate is free for u, so u like standing outside in a line.
So I went there with my mom, it was the first experience for my mom in a luxury brand store. We finally came inside, we were offered a drink everyone was really sweet and smiley and then our associate came. At the first glance u knew he was rolling his eyes inside his head. You could read his face like an open book, he clearly didn’t want us there. I was showing him pictures of the belt bag i wanted, but he told me they don’t have it in the store, i was asking for something similar in size for comparison cuz i could then order it online, but i wanted “as u said” try it on before purchase. If i’m spending that much money i want to see how it fits, what it fits. He was clearly annoyed the whole time i checked the bag, he was like u can order the one u wanted online. I was like oooookay i do that… suddenly he took the bag and asked if it was all i wanted… i was left speechless. I said i would like the paris map mitzah scarf, and he straight told me they dont have it… even tho i saw it on the shelf, i asked him if he could check it for me, i would like the black one, he went to look for it and tadaaaaaaa he found it, after that i went to the cash register… and more surprise my card was declined… u could see the color draining from my face that how could this be happening… i wouldn’t even dream to go in such a boutique if i didn’t have enough money on my card, just to be humiliated?! No thx. So he was looking at me with this offensive side eye and tried multiple times with all the same results. I just want to mention by this point everyone was already looking at me. And finally one of his colleagues brought out another card reader… and it swiped my card straight away . So it wasnt my card that had the issues but his card reader wasn’t functioning well… he didn’t even apologize and nothing, at this point i just wanted to get out of the store as soon as possible. I don’t really even want to go back there ever again.
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I would be happy to have the HIDUPZ as my travel bag and not have to take care of it. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
I’ve had a horror experience at Chanel with my first purchase. I didn’t know better at the time because it was my first purchase, but looking back at it I realized how poorly I was treated. When I made a story time on my channel and people re-affirmed me I realized that I wasn’t just being dramatic and it was actually not acceptable 😅

I've never really experienced this, however i've definitely stepped into a store and been fully ignored, or been told if your coming here next time, figure out what you want( which is true i probably should). Personally i'm not obsessed with buying bags, not that i cant afford it, i just dont think i want to be spending more than 6.5+k on a bag, because i just think its a little ridiculous for me, which i guess for some sales SA, they think its because you cant afford it, so they will most definitely be treating you a little differently. I think as Dior is becoming almost like the next chennal where things are so so so expensive and majority of it are all in the top 9k, I definitely feel like they are judging you alot and it just gives off that vibe as soon as you walk in. Sometimes i really just want to walk in and see whats new and stuff, and that sometimes i feel forced to buy stuff. I agree, there will almost always be another ready to help and is so helpful and kind too. Unfortunately a lot of bags here in where i live are mostly ranging in the 6.5+ group, which is fine, as long as i really really love it, i guess i wouldn't mind completely, but how much your willing to spend plays an big factor in not only the way they see you but treat you as well. I do live in a pretty big city as well, so i find it surprising that big high brands like gucci, and Lv, ysl, etc they are all majority pretty nice, however for some reason here Dior sales associates are mostly the group that are on the poorer experience side unfortunately.
Had a similar experience in Vegas. Walked out and went to another location. Treated good, and they made a big sale. I don’t ever hesitate to either leave or ask for another salesperson.

I have had several bad experiences at Gucci in the last 20 something year. First bad experience I was in NJ that's when they had the bags not tacked down on the shelves. I was buying a bag the lady was verifying my check, drivers license asking if I had money available in my checking account.. Meanwhile while she was doing the most two ladies came in put their fake bags on the shelves and walked out with real ones .I told the sales people after they tried to embarrass me..I'm from CT my family lives in NJ. I spent 10k that day . Fast forward last summer was in the WRENTHEM MA outlet and purchased 4 bags a pair of shoes and two scarves. I specifically asked if one bag was a boutique ( I don't buy a made-for outlet) I went home and did a research bag I questioned was in fact made for an outlet. I drove two hours back the next day and told her why would she lie just to make a sale ? I let her know my daughter is a Manager in store planning in Gucci corporate in Manhattan..At that point she knew she could lose her job . I let her know the policy returned all the stuff purchased under her and purchased with the new salesperson. She lost a 4k commission. You need to call corporate on sales associate 1..

I hate bad customer service but judging by the different treatment by the 2 SAs, it’s not so much about the brand but the personality of the individual. I have not bought any Gucci bag from my local store but I did get very friendly treatment when I went in to try on some bags several years ago. Have a great day, Lily! ☺️

Oh I'm sorry this happened to you. I've always had incredible experiences in Gucci, their bags and aesthetic isn't really my style but I do actually buy a lot from the brand because of how above and beyond their staff are when I visit my local Gucci. They are always so kind and helpful to me.
I do also live in a very casual, tropical city full of tourists and I often just have my active wear on when I visit the luxury shops and never felt judged for how I looked.
What happened to you I would definitely be upset too.

This particular sales association’s demeanor has really nothing to do with you personally. The SA was there to try to close the sale. The core motto for sales is “A” “B” “C” meaning Always Be Closing (the sale). I completely agree with you that he was rude and over the top. He didn’t create a good rapport with you so it was impersonal. He should have gotten to know you better first and ask lifestyle questions to assist you in finding the best bag that you want or really need. Also it’s important to give the client some space and not hover. So sorry this happened to you but it was good another SA stepped in as they should for your sake and the boutiques sake. Don’t let it discourage you but glad you moved on! I used to sell handbags for years (contemporary and luxury) that’s why I thought I’d just share my thoughts. The Gucci Aphrodite is gorgeous and I hope you find the one you love! ❤

so true! i went into chanel dwntn w sweats on and they servied me wo an appt. during 'cvd season' (lol) and so i looked super bummy and suspicious haha
he was being super sass and hella pushy aggressive. the point of trying it on is so YOU can take it home, not him lol

I don't understand why employees at a luxury boutique act so rude. It's not all but majority are lol. I've had a bad experience at gucci also in San Jose Valley fair across the street from Santana row.

@@LilyShops it was a sad experience. The guy made is feel like we couldn't afford the bags (my boyfriend and i) when we were asking for prices, like we just wanted to know out of curiosity. And we went when they opened. We only drove a hour away to buy a bag, that was the purpose for the trip. He was snobby but we still got the bag and wallet just to prove him wrong, like we deserved to be there as a paying customer. We were going to try on shoes also but he was just giving bad vibes so we just got what we really wanted and will save the other stuff for another day.

This sounds like usual Chanel shopping experience in Paris.. until SA understands you got lots $ to spend & aren't just looking around.
SA's tend to get rude when you touch bags from display or take pictures without permission. But him pressuring you into going back to the bag you obviously didn't like while you showed interest in others is bizarre..
I never had bad experience at Gucci, but I usually have horrible shopping experience in German speaking countries with older female SA's who are dismissive of under 40 year old customers. So i completely understand your friend not wanting to shop at that mall, because of poor customer service

You are so sweet and so beautiful. Kill them with kindness but some people just won't die will they? I know the city and I am pretty sure of your friend's family name too. There are many rich families settled there of course, but one stands out for many reasons especially their beautiful daughters your age. I just have a feeling. Plus I can picture them giving up shopping there due to rudeness which no one in that family would ever return. I have shopped there too back when I attended the wedding of all weddings in that city, but I got very lucky. We even shopped with our dog. I am sorry that happened to you but you tried on a lot of cute bags.
i would just call sells associate 2 anytime i want to make a purchase bc it can be hard to find someone that can make an experience of spending your own money ha
