I was in the England end for this match. The noise during Flower of Scotland was ridiculous. I don't really have a problem with fans booing opposing anthems, although I never do it myself. Pretty much all the England fans were booing as loud as they could and on top of that was the noise of 60,000 Scots bellowing Flower of Scotland at the top of their voices. The combined effect was the loudest noise I've ever heard at a football match, and I've been to a lot. Fabulous atmosphere and hugely enjoyable evening.
So, we're English but the Flower of Scotland is an amazing national anthem. Pete has been to Murrayfield many times and says the anthem always gives him goosebumps. Amazing to hear!
It's unfortunate that Scotland froze on the night. Would've loved the same drama as the 2-2 draw with Griffiths almost taking the roof down before Kane broke hearts
I was born 1977 and i used to watch passionate matches when i was young. What i see nowadays is snowflake team vs snowflake team with snowflake supporters who supposed to watch an event at the evening . I am not british but i love to see this derby from beginning to the end...one of the rare football matches i really enjoy !
It's a Scotland home game for starters...At Hampden.........also look up footage of England v Scotland 1977 for a prime example of how p[assionate Scotland fans are for this fixture, That 1977 match was at England's national staduim at Wembley in London. 100,000 seats were available..Scotland fans aka The Tartan Army filled the staduim with approx 90,000 fans.....The English fans in their own staduim could barely be heard. 😂😂😂
This singing is about Scottish people and their pride and love of their country. First they are Scottish, not British, or vassals of England . Hopefully their soverignity can be achieved in a fair and peaceful way. The football result is disappointing , yes, but secondary.
