    wouldn't it be sick to integrate something like this with a smart assistant?
    Normal display: giant flip clock.
    Ask your smart speaker a question and have the answer display on the board!
    Not great for night-time use, absolutely amazing for a morning briefing!

    I’m curious, what order are the flaps in? They don’t appear to be the standard alphabet first, then symbols/numbers, and vice versa

    • @__-cd9ug
      @__-cd9ug Před 3 lety +4

      It's in alphabetical order but intercut with numbers and symbols, I suppose it's done that way to let you display things without having to wait too long, it's more versatile in a way:
      if it was the full alphabet and then numbers, you'd have to wait for the full alphabet to pass before you reach the numbers and vice versa, whereas here you can already get bits of the message before it's fully displayed
      here's the order from what I've been able to gather:
      0&ABCI-DEF2'GHJ3,KLM4.NPQ5#RST6@UVW7!XYZ8? (orange, yellow green) 9 (blue, pink, white, black or empty space)
      The number 0 also stands for the letter O and the same thing happens for I/1

    I see these are stareting to show up in the retail sector for sale... vestaboard wants 2900.00 for one of these for home use, what kind of retail pricing do you guys offer?

    • @OatFoundry
      @OatFoundry  Před 3 lety

      We build every display by hand to order. So, the price varies. This Split Flap is 7R x 32C - 4' H x 8' W. You'd need a few vestaboards to reach this size.

    • @OatFoundry
      @OatFoundry  Před 3 lety +1

      The signs can be loud. It depends on the size. This one is 8ft wide x 4ft tall. 224 individual modules spinning at once. If only 5-25 were spinning it would be softer.

    • @OatFoundry
      @OatFoundry  Před 3 lety +2

      @@rohanpoddar2562 Good thought - the way to reduce sound is actually by changing the speed at which flaps rotate. This is adjustable in the control web app we built for the displays.

    I want to type on one of these in real time, just to see how responsive it is. I'd settle for watching a video that includes a shot of the keyboard the person is typing on, with audio of the key presses, just to see and hear how laggy this is.
